Purpose : The purpose of this study is to identify the factors affecting the degree of job embeddedness by examining role conflict among intensive care unit nurses, the nursing organizational culture, nurse-physician collaboration, degree of job embeddedness, to understand the relationship between these variables. Method : Participants are 148 nurses from two hospitals in the intensive care unit. Collected data are analyzed using independent t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlations, and multiple regressions using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results : The factors that significantly influenced the participants' job embeddedness are role conflict (𝛽=-.19, p =.015), innovation-oriented culture (𝛽=.26, p =.003), and nurse-physician collaboration (𝛽=.24, p =.002). The total explanatory power of these factors for job embeddedness is 44.5% (F=15.06, p =.001). Conclusion : This study identifies role conflict among intensive care unit nurses, innovation-oriented culture, and nurse-physician collaboration as important factors affecting job embeddedness.

This research has been conducted in order to compare and analyze the role-conflict, job stress and job satisfaction of nurses according to their current work posts. The subjects of this research were carefully selected 426 nurses from 2 university hospitals. The research tool were a role-conflict measurement index, job stress a tool, and job satisfaction Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. The data have been collected using a structured questionnaire from March to May 2003. The collected data have been analyzed using the SPSS PC 10.0V program. The nurses at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) showed highest level of job stress while the nurses at surgical ward showed the lowest level of job stress (F=8.37, p=.000). There was no significant difference in role-conflict and job satisfaction according to the current work posts. According to the results of this research, there was a difference in stress according to the current work posts, and it turned out that the nurses at ICU had the highest level of stress compared to the nurses at other departments, and it causes a fall in job satisfaction.

The purpose of this study was to compare the illustrations used in elementary science textbooks of Korea and BSCS in USA, and analyze the types, role, and characteristics of the illustrations. For the analysis, we used 8 elementary science textbooks of the 7th curriculum of science education in Korea from 3rd through 6th grade, and 16 volumes (stage 2 to stage 5) used in BSCS in USA. We examined types of illustrations, including photograph, picture, graphic, cartoon, chart, and their 4 roles such as, motivation, introducing the lesson activity, providing the materials, presenting the learning result. The results were as follows: First, Korean textbooks have more "photograph" type of illustration than BSCS. In BSCS textbooks, diverse types of illustrations were used compared to Korean textbooks. Second, large portion of illustrations in Korean textbooks took a role of providing materials. In BSCS textbooks, the roles of illustrations were more diverse. In BSCS, there were many illustrations to describe students working together with the disabled children, and to explicitly encourage cooperative learning. Considering the findings in this study, educational implications were discussed.

Small conductance calcium-activated potassium channels (or SKCa channels) are potassium selective, voltage-independent, and activated by intracellular calcium concentration. These channels play important roles in excitable cells such as neuron in the central nervous system (Vergara et al., 1998). The activity of SKCa channels underlies the slow afterhyperpolarization that inhibits neuronal cell firing (Hille, 1991; Vergara et al.,1998). Until now, N-terminal region of rSK2 isn't characterized. To study the role of N-terminus, we constructed the N-terminal deletion mutant and characterized by electrophysiological means. Interestingly, N-terminal deletion mutant be trafficked to membrane couldn't evoke any ionic currents. Thus, N-terminal region has a role in functional rSK2 channel formation. To elucidate the function of N-terminal region, (His)6-conjugated protein was purified and filtrated by affinity column chromatography. Surprisingly, N-terminal region was shown in tetramer size that was supported by cross-linking result. Thus, we predicted that N-terminal region might be involved in the tetramerization of rSK2.

Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) is known to interfere with viral replication and infection by limiting the viral infection of cells. Interferon-stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) interferes with viral replication and infectivity by limiting viral infection in cells. It also plays an important role in the immune response. In this study, tissue-specific expression of ISG15 in healthy rock bream samples and spatial and temporal expression analysis of rock bream ISG15 (RbISG15) were performed following rock bream iridovirus (RSIV) infection. RbISG15 expression was significantly higher in the eye, gill, intestine, kidney, liver, muscle, spleen, and stomach, but low in the brain. There were particularly high levels of expression in the liver and muscle. RbISG15 expression was also examined in several tissues and at various times following RSIV infection. ISG15 expression increased within 3 h in the whole body and decreased at 24 h after infection. In addition, temporal expression of several tissues following RSIV infection showed a similar pattern in the muscle, kidney, and spleen, increasing at 3 h and decreasing at 72 h. These results suggest that ISG15 plays an important role in the immune response of rock bream. Overall, this study characterizes the response of RbISG15 following RSIV infection.

The wave of the 4th Industrial Revolution was announced by Schwab Klaus at the 2016 World Economic Forum in Davos, and prospects and measures with the future society in mind have been put in place. With the launch of the Moon Jae-in administration in May 2017, Korea has shifted all of its interest to Big Data, which is one of the most important features of the 4th Industrial Revolution. In this regard, this study focuses on the role of the public sector, explores related issues, and identifies an agenda for determining the demand for ways to foster Big Data ecosystem, from an objective perspective. Furthermore, this study seeks to establish priorities for key Big Data issues from various areas based on importance and urgency using a Delphi analysis. It also specifies the agenda by which Korea should exert national and social efforts based on these priorities in order to demonstrate the role of the public sector in reinforcing the Big Data ecosystem.

A series of experiments demonstrated that an addition of Ag into $(Cu_{0.5}Zr_{0.5})_{100-x}Ag_{x}$ amorphous alloys alters the plasticity of the alloys in a systematic manner. Energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) conducted on the $(Cu_{0.5}Zr_{0.5})_{100-x}Ag_{x}$ alloys exhibited the presence of compositional modulation, indicating that compositional separation had occurred. The presence of compositional modulation was also validated using a combined technique of molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo simulation. In this study, the effect of Ag on the compositional separation in $(Cu_{0.5}Zr_{0.5})_{100-x}Ag_{x}$ bulk amorphous alloys was investigated to understand the role played by the phase-separating element on the plasticity of the amorphous alloys.

Government-sponsored Research Institutes(GRIs) have played a great role to the development of Korea Science and Technology(S&T) However, GRIs are facing with challenges of change for their role and function, appearing emerging technology, accelerating technological innovation and increasing research capabilities of other organizations(i.g., universities and firms). We will argue that GRIs should increase competitiveness of their focused research discipline in order to produce a superior outcome and in charge of distinguished role compared with other organizations. This paper aims to suggest a alternative which could increase competitiveness of GRIs's focused research discipline. As a case, in this paper, we analyzed Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology(KRIBB) which is a part of GRIs in Korea.

The korean society confronts with social problems which are resulted from the rapid development of science and technology. While the governments politic has concentrated on the economic application of science and technology, various citizens groups have been organized to solve the social problems by themselves. Historically the so called citizens movement in the field of science and technology was formed with the influence of students movement in 1970s. The activities and the aim of the movement have changed in accordance with the state of the korean society. They pay more attention to the enhancement of citizens participation in the development of science and technology. This paper is intended to evaluate the role of the citizens organizations in terms of their participation in the policy-making, formation of alternative scientist and engineer. The practices of the organizations are classified in three periods which corresponds to the process of social movement in Korea. It is further attempted to suggest the future role of those organizations.
