CDe 표현형의 환자에서 항-E와 항-E/-c 항체 생성 특이성의 차이 (Difference in Characteristics in the Formation of Anti-E and Anti-E/-c in Patients with the CDe Phenotype)

  • 배경: CDe 표현형 환자에서 수혈에 의해 항-E 또는 항-E/-c 항체가 생길 수 있다. CDe 표현형 환자에서 항-E 또는 항-E/-c 항체의 생성에 따른 특성의 차이를 조사해 보고자 하였다. 방법: 2014년에 실시된 비예기항체 동정 검사결과를 후향적으로 검토하였다. Rh 표현형과 항체 특이성을 조사하였고, CDe 표현형 환자의 수혈 및 의무 기록을 조사 하였다. 결과: 총 76명의 환자가 포함되었다. 76명의 환자 중 38명(50.0%)이 CDe 표현형이었다. 항-E 항체 양성군은 23명(60.5%)이었고, 항-E/-c 양성군은 9명(23.7%) 이었다. 총 수혈 단위와 혈소판 수혈 단위는 항-E/-c 항체 양성군에서 유의하게 높았다(P=0.028, P=0.01). 분류된 질병군의 분포는 항-E 및 항-E/-c 항체 양성군간에 차이가 없었다. 수혈의 빈도가 4회 이상을 차지하는 비율은 간담도계 질환 환자군에서 85.7%로 가장 높았다. 결론: CDe 표현형 환자에서 항-E 양성군보다 항-E/-c 양성군에서 혈소판 수혈이 의미 있게 높아 적혈구 동종면역에 혈소판의 역할이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 한국인에서 E 항원 면역원성이 가장 높기 때문에 CDe 표현형 환자들에게 E 항원과 c 항원 음성 혈액의 수혈이 요구되는 질환군을 향 후 정의할 필요가 있다.

노화에 대한 고정관념 위협이 노인의 공간 작업기억 및 정서인식에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Stereotype Threat on Spatial Working Memory and Emotion Recognition in Korean elderly)

  • 본 연구에서는 고정관념 위협이 노인의 공간 기억 및 정서인식기능에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 개인이 지니고 있는 노화에 대한 인식에 따라 고정관념 위협의 효과가 다르게 나타나는지 검증해 보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 자발적으로 연구 참여 의사를 밝힌 60세 이상 노인 17명(남=7)을 대상으로 연구를 진행하였으며, 첫 번째 방문 시 K-WMS-IV와 MMSE를 포함한 기본 인지기능 검사를 실시하고, 자신의 노화에 대한 인식, 노화 불안, 노화에 대한 태도, 연령 정체성 척도에 응답하도록 하였다. 두 번째 방문 시, 실험군의 경우 노화가 인지기능을 저하시킨다는 스크립트를 읽도록 하여 고정관념 위협에 노출시켰으며, 대조군의 경우 중립적인 스크립트를 읽도록 하였다. 고정관념위협을 조작한 이후 공간 작업기억 과제 (콜시 블록 태핑 과제)와 정서 인식 과제 (얼굴표정 정서인식 과제)를 수행하도록 하고, 수행의 정확도를 관찰하였다. 연구 결과, 고정관념 위협에 노출된 노인 군이 그렇지 않은 노인 군에 비해 정서인식 과제에서 유의하게 저조한 수행 정확도 (p<.05)를 보였다. 또한 자신의 노화에 대한 인식과 고정관념 위협 사이에 상호작용 효과가 확인되어(p<.05), 자신의 노화에 대한 인식이 긍정적인 노인들은 고정관념 위협에 노출되더라도 정서인식 과제와 어려운 공간 작업기억 과제에서 대조군과 유사한 수행 정확도를 보인 반면, 자신의 노화에 대한 인식이 부정적인 노인들은 고정관념 위협에 노출되었을 때, 매우 저조한 수행 정확도를 나타내는 양상을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 고정관념 위협이 노인의 정서인식 기능에 부정적 영향을 미치는 것을 검증하였으며, 자신의 노화에 대한 긍정적 인식이 고정관념 위협으로 인한 인지기능 저하의 보호 요인으로 작용한다는 것을 확인하였다.

Identification and functional prediction of long noncoding RNAs related to intramuscular fat content in Laiwu pigs

  • Objective: Intramuscular fat (IMF) is a critical economic indicator of pork quality. Studies on IMF among different pig breeds have been performed via high-throughput sequencing, but comparisons within the same pig breed remain unreported. Methods: This study was performed to explore the gene profile and identify candidate long noncoding RNA (lncRNAs) and mRNAs associated with IMF deposition among Laiwu pigs with different IMF contents. Based on the longissimus dorsi muscle IMF content, eight pigs from the same breed and management were selected and divided into two groups: a high IMF (>12%, H) and low IMF group (<5%, L). Whole-transcriptome sequencing was performed to explore the differentially expressed (DE) genes between these two groups. Results: The IMF content varied greatly among Laiwu pig individuals (2.17% to 13.93%). Seventeen DE lncRNAs (11 upregulated and 6 downregulated) and 180 mRNAs (112 upregulated and 68 downregulated) were found. Gene Ontology analysis indicated that the following biological processes played an important role in IMF deposition: fatty acid and lipid biosynthetic processes; the extracellular signal-regulated kinase cascade; and white fat cell differentiation. In addition, the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor, phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase-protein kinase B, and mammalian target of rapamycin pathways were enriched in the pathway analysis. Intersection analysis of the target genes of DE lncRNAs and mRNAs revealed seven candidate genes associated with IMF accumulation. Five DE lncRNAs and 20 DE mRNAs based on the pig quantitative trait locus database were identified and shown to be related to fat deposition. The expression of five DE lncRNAs and mRNAs was verified by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). The results of qRT-PCR and RNA-sequencing were consistent. Conclusion: These results demonstrated that the different IMF contents among pig individuals may be due to the DE lncRNAs and mRNAs associated with lipid droplets and fat deposition.

  • Building Ukraine as an independent, sovereign state requires the education of a citizen-patriot, able to live and work in a democracy, ensure the unity of Ukraine, feel constant responsibility for themselves, their people, country, seek to make a real contribution to the reform process. Modern modernization of the education system requires the search for new information and communication technologies that can ensure the formation of a citizen with an active civic position, which involves not only students mastering the rights and responsibilities of citizens, convincing them of the feasibility of democratic transformation of society, patriotic qualities and feelings, but also the identification of motivated civic actions. The pandemic and hostilities have led to significant changes in the field of education around the world, they have caused educational problems in Ukraine. At the beginning of the quarantine in the spring of 2020, all educational institutions in the emergency mode switched to distance learning. Intensive use of information and communication technologies in the life of modern society has led to a rethinking of the content of education and training of future professionals: the main role is played not so much by the information itself as the ability to work with it, critically comprehend and produce new knowledge; the main thing is not the amount of information, but its quality; information is needed for further practical application and transformation into knowledge, and the ability to work with information becomes one of the important competencies of the modern specialist in the new transformation of society: from information to the knowledge society. In this context, one of the main forms of training is distance learning, which is able to respond to the challenges of society. The main methodological positions that are taken into account in the construction of the structure and dynamics of the formation of civic responsibility of the individual during the use of information and communication technologies are highlighted. The structure of civil responsibility as a holistic system of information and communication technologies is outlined, which includes three subsystems that characterize the natural, social and systemic qualities of citizenship, interconnected hierarchically and synergistically.The constituent elements of the structural part of the model of civic culture of the individual are analyzed.

Accuracy evaluation of liver and tumor auto-segmentation in CT images using 2D CoordConv DeepLab V3+ model in radiotherapy

  • Medical image segmentation is the most important task in radiation therapy. Especially, when segmenting medical images, the liver is one of the most difficult organs to segment because it has various shapes and is close to other organs. Therefore, automatic segmentation of the liver in computed tomography (CT) images is a difficult task. Since tumors also have low contrast in surrounding tissues, and the shape, location, size, and number of tumors vary from patient to patient, accurate tumor segmentation takes a long time. In this study, we propose a method algorithm for automatically segmenting the liver and tumor for this purpose. As an advantage of setting the boundaries of the tumor, the liver and tumor were automatically segmented from the CT image using the 2D CoordConv DeepLab V3+ model using the CoordConv layer. For tumors, only cropped liver images were used to improve accuracy. Additionally, to increase the segmentation accuracy, augmentation, preprocess, loss function, and hyperparameter were used to find optimal values. We compared the CoordConv DeepLab v3+ model using the CoordConv layer and the DeepLab V3+ model without the CoordConv layer to determine whether they affected the segmentation accuracy. The data sets used included 131 hepatic tumor segmentation (LiTS) challenge data sets (100 train sets, 16 validation sets, and 15 test sets). Additional learned data were tested using 15 clinical data from Seoul St. Mary's Hospital. The evaluation was compared with the study results learned with a two-dimensional deep learning-based model. Dice values without the CoordConv layer achieved 0.965 ± 0.01 for liver segmentation and 0.925 ± 0.04 for tumor segmentation using the LiTS data set. Results from the clinical data set achieved 0.927 ± 0.02 for liver division and 0.903 ± 0.05 for tumor division. The dice values using the CoordConv layer achieved 0.989 ± 0.02 for liver segmentation and 0.937 ± 0.07 for tumor segmentation using the LiTS data set. Results from the clinical data set achieved 0.944 ± 0.02 for liver division and 0.916 ± 0.18 for tumor division. The use of CoordConv layers improves the segmentation accuracy. The highest of the most recently published values were 0.960 and 0.749 for liver and tumor division, respectively. However, better performance was achieved with 0.989 and 0.937 results for liver and tumor, which would have been used with the algorithm proposed in this study. The algorithm proposed in this study can play a useful role in treatment planning by improving contouring accuracy and reducing time when segmentation evaluation of liver and tumor is performed. And accurate identification of liver anatomy in medical imaging applications, such as surgical planning, as well as radiotherapy, which can leverage the findings of this study, can help clinical evaluation of the risks and benefits of liver intervention.

통일과정에서의 한류의 의미와 가치 (The Meanings and Values of Korean Wave(Hallyu) for the Reunification of the South Korea and North Korea)

  • 지금까지의 통일에 대한 접근은 정치·경제·군사·외교를 통한 국가통일과 민족중심의 통일로 나누어 국가 정책적인 차원에서 이루어졌다. 그럼에도 불구하고 지금까지의 통일에 대한 진전은 보이지 못한다고 하겠다. 여기에 본 연구자는 지금까지의 통일에 대한 성찰을 통해 문화적 접근을 통한 통일을 병행할 필요가 있다고 보여진다. 특히 통일을 위한 다양한 의미와 가치를 담아내고 있는 한류는 한국의 대중문화로서 아시아를 넘어 전 세계로 그 영역이 확장되어 가고 있다. 이러한 상황에 북한도 예외일 수 없는 것이다. 그러므로 통일을 위한 한류의 가치와 의미를 통해 그 가능성을 살펴보는 것도 의미 있을 것이라 본다. 먼저 한류에 대한 남북한의 공유와 향유는 통일에 대한 새로운 동력으로 작용할 수 있을 것이다. 이러한 기저에는 한류가 가지고 있는 동력으로서 민족적 정서가 남북한 사람들에게 문화적 공감대를 형성하게 해준다. 다음으로 민족적 정서가 반영된 한류의 문화는 치유의 역할을 할 수 있을 것이다. 남북한의 한류 공감은 서로에 대한 민족적 자긍심을 높이고, 남북한의 분단된 상처를 치유하는 역할을 가능하게 할 수 있을 것이다. 이를 통한 공감은 통일에 대한 역량을 높인다고 하겠다. 마지막으로 한류는 남북한이 서로 공유하고 향유하면서 통일의 촉매제 역할을 할 수 있는 것이다. 한류의 경험을 통한 통일에 대한 역량을 높이는 계기가 되어 인류의 보편적인 행복을 지향하는 삶으로의 전환을 꿈꾸게 한다. 결국 통일은 사람을 위한 통일이어야 한다. 사람을 위한 통일은 누구나가 행복 할 수 있다는 인류 보편적인 정서를 내포하는 문화를 의미한다. 이러한 것을 가능성을 담아내고 있는 것이 한류인 것이다.

Screening of key miRNAs related with the differentiation of subcutaneous adipocytes and the validation of miR-133a-3p functional significance in goats

  • Objective: Adipocyte differentiation is regulated by a variety of functional genes and noncoding RNAs. However, the role of miRNAs in lipid deposition of goat white adipose tissue is still unclear. Therefore, this study revealed the miRNA expression profile in goat subcutaneous adipocytes by sRNA-seq. Methods: The miRNA expressed in goat subcutaneous preadipocytes and the mature adipocytes were sequenced by sRNA-seq. The differentially expressed miRNAs (DEm) were screened and gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto encyclopedia for genes and genomes (KEGG) analyses were performed. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function combined with oil red O staining, Bodipy staining, and quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) were utilized to determine the effect of miR-133a-3p on adipocyte differentiation. Results: A total of 218 DEm were screened out. The target genes of these DEm were significantly enriched in GO items such as biological regulation and in KEGG terms such as FAK signaling pathway and MAPK signaling pathway. qPCR verified that the expression trend of miRNA was consistent with miRNA-seq. The gain-of-function or loss-of-function of miR-133a-3p showed that it promoted or inhibited the accumulation of lipid droplets, and CCAAT enhancer binding protein α (C/EBPα) and C/EBPβ were extremely significantly up-regulated or down-regulated respectively (p<0.01), the loss-of-function also led to a significant down-regulation of peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) (p<0.01). Conclusion: This study successfully identified miRNAs expression patterns in goat subcutaneous adipocytes, and functional identification indicates that miR-133a-3p is a positive regulator of the differentiation process of goat subcutaneous adipocytes. Our results lay the foundation for the molecular mechanism of lipid deposition in meat-source goats from the perspective of miRNA.

Risk of Carbon Leakage and Border Carbon Adjustments under the Korean Emissions Trading Scheme

  • Purpose - This paper examines South Korea's potential status as a carbon leakage country, and the level of risk posed by the Korean emissions trading scheme (ETS) for Korean industries. The economic effects of border carbon adjustments (BCAs) to protect energy-intensive Korean industries in the process of achieving the carbon reduction target by 2030 through the Korean ETS are also analyzed. Design/methodology - First, using the Korean Input-Output (IO) table, this paper calculates the balance of emissions embodied in trade (BEET) and the pollution terms of trade (PTT) to determine Korean industries' carbon leakage status. Analyses of the risk level posed by carbon reduction policy implementation in international trade are conducted for some sectors by applying the EU criteria. Second, using a computable general equilibrium (CGE) model, three BCA scenarios, exemption regulations (EXE), reimbursement (REB), and tariff reduction (TAR) to protect the energy-intensive industries under the Korean ETS are addressed. Compared to the baseline scenario of achieving carbon reduction targets by 2030, the effects of BCAs on welfare, carbon leakage, outputs, and trading are analyzed. Findings - As Korea's industrial structure has been transitioning from a carbon importing to a carbon leaking country. The results indicate that some industrial sectors could face the risk of losing international competitiveness due to the Korean ETS. South Korea's industries are basically exposed to risk of carbon leakage because most industries have a trade intensity higher than 30%. This could be interpreted as disproving vulnerability to carbon leakage. Although the petroleum and coal sector is not in carbon leakage, according to BEET and PTT, the Korean ETS exposes this sector to a high risk of carbon leakage. Non-metallic minerals and iron and steel sectors are also exposed to a high risk of carbon leakage due to the increased burden of carbon reduction costs embodied in the Korean ETS, despite relatively low levels of trade intensity. BCAs are demonstrated to have an influential role in protecting energy-intensive industries while achieving the carbon reduction target by 2030. The EXE scenario has the greatest impact on mitigation of welfare losses and carbon leakage, and the TAF scenario causes a disturbance in the international trade market because of the pricing adjustment system. In reality, the EXE scenario, which implies completely exempting energy-intensive industries, could be difficult to implement due to various practical constraints, such as equity and reduction targets and other industries; therefore, the REB scenario presents the most realistic approach and appears to have an effect that could compensate for the burden of economic activities and emissions regulations in these industries. Originality/value - This paper confirms the vulnerability of the Korean industrial the risk of carbon leakage, demonstrating that some industrial sectors could be exposed to losing international competitiveness by implementing carbon reduction policies such as the Korean ETS. The contribution of this paper is the identification of proposed approaches to protect Korean industries in the process of achieving the 2030 reduction target by analyzing the effects of BCA scenarios using a CGE model.

Introduction of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services in Korea and Their Role During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Focusing on the Ministry of Education Policy

  • This study aimed to discuss mental health services for children and adolescents that are being implemented as initiatives of the Korean government and to review the functions and roles of these projects during the COVID-19 pandemic. Three government departments are in charge of providing mental health services for children and adolescents: Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and Ministry of Health and Welfare. The Ministry of Education has implemented several policies to facilitate the early detection of mental health issues among school students (from preventive interventions to selective interventions for high-risk students). The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family additionally serves out-of-school children and adolescents by facilitating early identification of adolescents in crises and providing temporary protection or emergency assistance (as required) through the Community Youth Safety-Net Project. Furthermore, the Ministry of Health and Welfare operates relevant mental health agencies for individuals of all ages including children and adolescents. Any high-risk students who have been screened through the projects of the Ministry of Education are supported through referrals to the following institutions for appropriate treatment of their symptoms: specialized hospitals, the Youth Counseling and Welfare Center operated by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the National Youth Healing Center, the Mental Health Welfare Center operated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Suicide Prevention Center, and the Child Welfare Center. To assist students who are facing any psychological difficulties because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education has established a psychiatric support group for providing emergency mental health care; furthermore, schools are promoting psychological surveillance (e.g., provision of non-face-to-face counseling services that are centered around the Wee Center). The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, and Ministry of Health and Welfare have provided varied mental health support services in order to address the challenges faced by children and adolescents during the pandemic. Nevertheless, the mental health services operated by each ministry do show some limitations because their service provision system is insufficiently collaborative. The present study discussed the positive effects of each initiative as well as its limitations; furthermore, it suggested improvements for facilitating the healthy development of children and adolescents' mental health.

임상적으로 중요한 무산소성 세균의 분류 업데이트 (Update on the Taxonomy of Clinically Important Anaerobic Bacteria)

  • 임상미생물학 분야에서 세균의 분류는 끊임없이 변화하는 상태에 있다. 무산소성 세균의 대규모 분류와 명명법은 지난 수십년 동안 발생되었는데, 주로 16S rRNA 염기서열 분석 및 전체 게놈 염기서열(WGS) 분석과 같은 분자 기술의 발전 때문이다. 새로운 균속과 균종이 추가되었고, 기존 균종과 균속은 재분류되었거나 재명명되었다. 임상미생물검사실의 주요 역할은 임상적으로 중요한 세균의 정확한 동정 및 적절한 감수성 시험, 그리고 신속한 보고 및 임상의와의 의사 소통이다. 무산소성 세균의 분류학적 변화는 진단적으로 적절한 보고 항균제의 선택과 항균제 감수성 해석 기준의 적용에 잠정적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 이는 신흥 병원성 무산소성 세균의 항균제 내성 및 잘못된 동정은 환자 치료에 있어서 부적절한 경험적 치료를 유발할 수 있기 때문이다. 따라서, 임상미생물검사실은 주기적으로 무산소성 세균의 분류학적 변경 사항을 업데이트하고, 임상의에게 이러한 변경 사항을 적절하게 알려야 한다. 이 논문에서는 임상적으로 중요한 무산소성 세균의 분류에 관한 업데이트을 제시하였고, 이전의 균명 또는 동의어을 함께 기술하였다. 무산소성 세균의 분류 업데이트는 무산소성 세균 감염에 대한 항균제 요법을 안내하고, 치료 실패를 예방하는데 임상미생물검사실과 임상의 모두에게 도움이 될 수 있다.
