This study is investigated the extent of the noise and ground vibration in an adjacent zone of a cattle pen and an antiquated housing structures for judgement of the spot applicability on the extents of the noise and ground vibration of the rock-splitting method by an oil pressure. It is studied by measuring and analysing in an adjacent position the extents of the noise and ground vibration according to the work process of the rock-splitting method, such as drilling, rock-splitting, arranging rock, loading and by being compared with the permitted level on the noise and ground vibration fixed at the spot. To the results, it is identified that the influence to the noise has to be considered, even if the rock-splitting method is applied as an excavation method to lower a ground vibration by the classification on blasting method of the ministry of land, transport and marine affairs.
Wave velocity was measured to define the weathering characteristics of rock and the strength evaluation of weathered rock on a target of the Aso gravestones with various sizes under the natural environment. As a result, the size correction method which was changed sample of the different size to one of the same size for evaluating wave velocity was proposed, and also suggested the NET (Normalized Elapsed Time) as a new weathering index of rock. In addition, the strength of the weathered rock was estimated from the weathering classification of rock using the NET. Wave velocity of welded tuff was high and didn't show velocity degradation, on the other hand, one of andesite was low and showed velocity degradation. The degree of weathering between rocks of the different size is considered to be comparable, applying the NET based on the on the $V_p/V_o$-NET curve. Furthermore, the classification of rock weathering stages using the NET based on the $S_c/S_o$-NET curve was available, and the estimation of strength for the weathered rock was also possible.
RQD is used to evaluate the degree of fracture in the rock mass and is also used as input into rock mass classification scheme, such as RMR and Q-system. However there are some drawbacks of the RQD caused by anisotropy and calculation length. Thus it is important to understand the variation of RQD in 3-D space in order to evaluate the properties of rock mass. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the distribution of RQD in the equal-angle stereo net, to investigate the effects of scanline length and joint frequency and to inquire the effect on the selection of rock mass strength parameters in the numerical analysis. Analysis has been extended to field joint survey data using same method. The results can be applied to contribute for more accurate interpretation of the results of engineering geological survey for better design and construction work.
Quick identification of the condition of tunnel face and optimized determination of support patterns during tunnel excavation in underground construction projects help engineers prevent tunnel collapse and safely excavate tunnels. This study investigates a CNN technique for quick determination of rock quality classification depending on the condition of tunnel face, and presents the procedure for rock quality classification using a deep learning technique and the improved method for accurate prediction. The VGG16 model developed by tens of thousands prestudied images was used for deep learning, and 1,469 tunnel face images were used to classify the five types of rock quality condition. In this study, the prediction accuracy using this technique was up to 83.9%. It is expected that this technique can be used for an error-minimizing rock quality classification system not depending on experienced professionals in rock quality rating.
There is cattle shed and house structure of a country village in the vicinity of the construction site. that is why the environmental effect evaluation on blasting had been done in advance to prevent any harm to those from the work. As the result, it is impossible to apply to the blasting method, and the Super wedge method, a kind of a rock-splitting method which there is no secondary breaking by a breaker of the methods breaking &excavating rock according to the classification of the blasting method by the ministry of construction & transpotation, applied to decrease noise and vibration, and to the work classification, the extent of noise and vibration measured with the instrument only for noise(SC-310c) and with the instrument only for vibration(BLASTMATE) respectively. A drilling, splitting, collecting, loading works at the closest point(about 10m) is barely possible on the consideration of vibration to the result of measurement, but carefulness needs on moving of equipment. On the case of noise, even drilling, collecting, loading work except splitting at the comparatively close point(about 20m) is difficult. So, the method breaking &excavating rock according to the classification of the blasting method by the ministry of construction & transpotation has to apply in consideration of noise level in accordance with the work processing.

Rock mass classification by using electrical resistivity tomography(ERT) method is widely performed for the determination of rock support type in tunnel design. In the region of high electrical noise level, however, the result of the ERT will have many erroneous features. In this study, the back ground electrical noise had been measured to find out the reason why the results of ERT in this area did not agree to the expected geology confirmed by boreholes. In order to overcome this limitation of ERT, a hybrid surface-borehole array seismic refraction tomography had been followed. Using this technique, we could get P-wave velocity section including the depth level of tunnel. The comparison of the P-wave velocity and RMR shows fairly good statistical relationship to make it possible to set up the rock mass classification for the entire tunnel line.
It was described Several Tuneling method for applying petrolum oil storage. The most Important factor of Tunneling is not only reinforcing works such as pre-grouting and after grouting but also rock bolting and shotcrete. The efficent works should be done by professional skillman, and also the classification of rock should be decided by professional engineers.
In this paper, the application of the rock classification method based on indicator kriging and the cost of errors, which can incorporate qualitative data, was presented. In particular, the binary classification of rock masses was considered. To this end, a simplified RMR system was used. Since most of subjectivity in this analysis occur during the estimation of loss functions, a sensitivity analysis of loss functions was performed. Through this research, it was found out that an expected cost of errors could successfully be used as an indication for how well a sampling plan was designed. In certain conditions, qualitative data can be more economical than quantitative data in terms of expected costs of errors and sampling costs. Therefore, an additional sampling should be carefully determined depending upon the surrounding geologic conditions and its sampling cost. The application method shown in this paper can be useful for more systematic rock classifications.
This paper describes a new quantitative process for evaluating the roughness of discontinuity, which is suggested as a qualitative criteria in RMR or Q-system. For this purpose, the Delphi method which is one of the surveying methods was introduced. The selected panels were asked to evaluate the roughness of discontinuities on the Web which was hosted by authors in advance. A total of 3 surveys were performed using JRCs suggested by Barton and Choubey as well as Ai generated by the Monte Carlo simulations. After each survey, the results were provided to all panels for comparing their decisions to others. As surveys proceeded, better consensus and convergence were achieved. With a good agreement of panels on roughness classification, the quantitative criteria for roughness of discontinuity in RMR and Q-system was established in this study.
