  • From the General Circulation Models(GCMs), it is known that the increases of concentrations of greenhouse gases will have significant implications for climate change in global and regional scales. The GCM has an uncertainty in analyzing the meteorologic processes at individual sites and so the 'downscaling' techniques are used to bridge the spatial and temporal resolution gaps between what, at present, climate modellers can provide and what impact assessors require. This paper describes a method for assessing local climate change impacts using a robust statistical downscaling technique. The method facilitates the rapid development of multiple, low-cost, single-site scenarios of daily surface weather variables under current and future regional climate forcing. The construction of climate change scenarios based on spatial regression(transfer function) downscaling and on the use of a local stochastic weather generator is described. Regression downscaling translates the GCM grid-box predictions with coarse resolution of climate change to site-specific values and the values were then used to perturb the parameters of the stochastic weather generator in order to simulate site-specific daily weather values. In this study, the global climate change scenarios are constructed using the YONU GCM control run and transient experiments.

  • This paper proposes a new dual-loop digital PLL(DPLL) using seamless frequency tracking methods. The dual-loop construction, which is composed of the coarse and fine loop for fast locking time and a switching noise suppression, is used successive approximation register technique and TDC. The proposed DPLL in order to compensate the quality of jitter which follows long-term of input frequency is newly added cord conversion frequency tracking method. Also, this DPLL has VCO circuitry consisting of digitally controlled V-I converter and current-control oscillator (CCO) for robust jitter characteristics and wide lock range. The chip is fabricated with Dongbu HiTek $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. Its operation range has the wide operation range of 0.4-2GHz and the area of $0.18mm^2$. It shows the peak-to-peak period jitter of 2 psec under no power noise and the power dissipation of 18mW at 2GHz through HSPICE simulation.

  • Current speech recognition technology s achieved high performance with the development of hardware devices, however it is insufficient for some applications where high reliability is required, such as voice control of powered wheelchairs for disabled persons. For the system which aims to operate powered wheelchairs safely by voice in real environment, we need to consider that non-voice commands such as user s coughing, breathing, and spark-like mechanical noise should be rejected and the wheelchair system need to recognize the speech commands affected by disability, which contains specific pronunciation speed and frequency. In this paper, we propose non-voice rejection method to perform voice/non-voice classification using both YIN based fundamental frequency(F0) extraction and reliability in preprocessing. We adopted a multi-template dictionary and acoustic modeling based speaker adaptation to cope with the pronunciation variation of inarticulately uttered speech. From the recognition tests conducted with the data collected in real environment, proposed YIN based fundamental extraction showed recall-precision rate of 95.1% better than that of 62% by cepstrum based method. Recognition test by a new system applied with multi-template dictionary and MAP adaptation also showed much higher accuracy of 99.5% than that of 78.6% by baseline system.
