This paper presents a two-wheel balancing mobile robot with linear workspace extension structures. The two-wheel mobile robot has two linear motions at the waist and shoulder to have extended workspace. The linear motion of the waist and shoulder provides some structural advantages. A dynamic equation of the simplified robot system is derived. Simulation studies of the position control of the robot system are performed based on the dynamic equations. The dynamic relationship between a two-wheel mobile system and linear extension mechanism is observed by simulation studies.

Korea High Speed Train(KHST) is supposed to run up 350km/h, in which the braking system has a crucial role for the safety of the train. In the design st데 of the braking system, its very hard to ac-quire information data for design guidelines. A HILS(Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation) system can be used to get design data which could simulate the braking system of the real train in real-time. In this paper, cars are modelled including car dynamics, brake blending algorithms, pneumatic actuator dynamics, the models of each braking devices, adhesive coefficients, and soon. Real-time braking time, distance, and other design parameters are simulated using a DSP board and C language which shows the validity of the proposed method.

In this paper we propose an angular rate and acceleration matching method for initial transfer alignment in aircraft. The conventional angular rate and acceleration matching method performs compensation for the lever arm effects between the master and slave INS before initial alignment. However, the conventional method does not take the flexure angular acceleration into account and thus is not effective when the flexure angular acceleration is large. We propose a new angular rate and acceleration matching method to cope with the flexure acceleration between the master and slave INS and compare the results with those of the conventional method by simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed matching method is better than the conventional matching method in case of large flexure acceleration.

The electro-hydraulic servo system with a servo valve is applied widely in force control. However, the composition of control system using a servo valve is difficult due to nonlinearities in the servo valve, such as square-root terms in flow equation. The electro-hydraulic servo system using a DDV(Direct Drive Valve) instead of a servo valve was proposed and it's characteristics was estimated. The DDV and whole system are modelled by parameter identification using the input-and-output data, then the models are verified by the comparison of simulation with experiment. Also, the state feedback controller has been designed based on this model, then the performance of the electro-hydraulic force servo system using a DDV is evaluated by simulation and experimental results.

An adaptive predictive level control of waste heat steam boiler was studied by using mathematical models considering the inverse response. The simulation experiments of the model identification were performed by using linear and bilinear models. From the results of simulations it was found that the bilinear model represented the actual dynamic behavior of steam boiler very well. ARMA model was used in the model identification and the adaptive predictive controller. To verify the performance and effectiveness of the adaptive predictive controller used in this study the simulation results of the adaptive predictive level control for waste heat steam boiler based on bilinear model were compared to those of P, PI and PID controller. The results of simulations showed that the adaptive predictive controller provides the fast arrival to setpoint of liquid level.
A humanoid robot hand with one thumb and two fingers has been developed. Each finger has the specially designed compact joints, called "MEC Joint", which convert the rotation of a motor to the swing motion of a pendulum. The robot hand with the MEC Joints is compact and relatively light but strong enough to grasp objects in the same manner as human being does in daily activities. In this paper the kinematic model and the torque characteristics of the MEC Joint are presented and compared with the results of the dynamic simulation and the dynamometer test. The dynamic behavior of the thumb and two fingers with MEC Joints are also presented by computer simulation.

In this paper, position tracking control of an autonomous helicopter is presented. Combining an LQR method and a proportional control forms a simple PD control. Since LQR control gains are set for the velocity control of the helicopter, a position tracking error occurs. To minimize a position tracking error, neural network is introduced. Specially, in the frame of the reference compensation technique for teaming neural network compensator, a position tracking error of an autonomous helicopter can be compensated by neural network installed in the remotely located ground station. Considering time delay between an auto-helicopter and the ground station, simulation studies have been conducted. Simulation results show that the LQR with neural network performs better than that of LQR itself.

In this paper, the error caused by the measurement delay in INS/GPS integrated systems with Kalman filtering is defined and analyzed through the analytical method and the simulation. It is proved that the error of measurement delay causes not only the position error but also the estimate error of the x-axis accelerometer bias when a vehicle turns. And the estimation method of the delay time and the compensation method using an extrapolation method are presented. The performance of the compensation method is shown by the analytic method and the simulation.

Target tracking performance improvement using multi-sensor data fusion is a challenging work. However, biases in the measurements should be removed before various data fusion techniques are applied. In this paper, a bias removing algorithm using measurement data from multi-radar tracking systems is proposed and evaluated by computer simulation. To predict bias estimation performance in various geometric relations between the radar systems and target, a system observability index is proposed and tested via computer simulation results. It is also studied that target tracking which utilizes multi-sensor data fusion with bias-removed measurements results in better performance.

Through the AUTOSAR methodology, the embedded software shall become more flexible, reusable, maintainable than ever. However, it is not mentioned about specific timing constraints of software components in AUTOSAR. There are a few basic principles for mapping runnable entities. At this point, AUTOSAR software design with optimal scheduling method is one of the enabling technologies in vehicle embedded system. This paper presents an approach based on mapping runnable entities and task scheduling design method for EPS (Electric Power Steering) software components, based on AUTOSAR. In addition, the experimental results of concurrent simulation show that the proposed scheduling technique and timing synchronization in the software component design can achieve the improved torque ripple performance and it well suited for EPS application software.
