Development of the Fundamental Technology for Ubiquitous Road Disaster Management System (유비쿼터스 도로재해관리시스템을 위한 기반기술 개발)

  • This study is aimed at the development of ubiquitous based road disaster management system. The fundamental technologies used for developing this system are classified into three modules - wireless internet communication module, mobile module and server module. These fundamental technologies can be used not only for developing road disaster management system but also for developing various mobile or ubiquitous systems. With this system, workers can download many DB (Digital map, Attribute information etc.) from server to the field in realtime. The accuracy and objectivity of the DB could be improved with these informations collected at fields because these data can be used as basic data for road disaster information collection. Because in the web based server module - Web based Road Disaster Management System (URDMS) - field disaster information was showed link up with exist DB on road by absolute coordinate, the decision making with all of the field information was made and it sent to a field staff in realtime. The problems of current road disaster management rule ran be solved by this URDMS.

  • Reflective and solar LED road studs are being used as a way of securing visibility for road environments. Road markers have various advantages and disadvantages in terms of versatility, efficiency, simplicity and visibility as individual products of reflective type and solar LED. However, in addition to the above, it is possible to prevent secondary accident after accident, It has a common drawback that it is difficult to have. In this paper, we propose a road stud system incorporating a wireless control function using RF - based communication with existing solar LED road studs and a system for controlling them. The proposed system is called the smart road stud system and it can control the equipment through the central control unit and the relay unit connected to the central control room by incorporating the RF communication function in the existing solar LED road stud. In addition, since it is possible to control the lighting method, color, etc. according to the road condition, it is possible to provide the driver with the state of the road to perform the function for preventing the second accident after the accident. It also adds features that minimize the ongoing power consumption of LED and RF communications. In order to verify the validity of the proposed system, prototypes were produced and it was confirmed that it is possible to act as a university for prevention of accident after accident by linking with other traffic system besides accident prevention function by securing existing visibility.

  • The vibration environment essentially companied by vehicle operation on the ground is determined by the shape of road surface, which is called profile. This paper focuses on development of a profile and severity measurement system for unpaved test courses. In general, the profile and severity of unpaved road is an important issue in the reliability of endurance test. In order to measure unpaved road profile and severity, it is necessary to develop a profilometer system. The developed profilometer system is composed of data processing computer, power unit, air compressor and sensors(encoder, vertical gyro and laser displacement) This paper presents the measuring system configuration, measurement principle of road profile and analysis method of road characteristics used at CPG(Changwon Proving Ground) for this purpose.

  • Systems Engineering is the process that controls the technical system development effort with the goal of achieving an optimum balance of all system elements. FRACAS(Failure Reporting an d Corrective Action System) is one of RAMS(Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety) tasks which is conducted from a manufacturing phase. FRACAS is to determine the basic cause of failure resulting from design or manufacture, and to provide a closed-loop method of implementing corrective action. This paper presents the FRACAS established for assessment of the reliability, the analysis and management of the failure data for Korean High Speed Train and application cases.

Road-friendliness of Fuzzy Hybrid Control Strategy Based on Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations

  • Purpose: In order to improve road-friendliness of heavy vehicles, a fuzzy hybrid control strategy consisting of a hybrid control strategy and a fuzzy logic control module is proposed. The performance of the proposed strategy should be effectively evaluated using a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation model of a semi-active suspension system based on the fuzzy hybrid control strategy prior to real vehicle implementations. Methods: A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation system was synthesized by utilizing a self-developed electronic control unit (ECU), a PCI-1711 multi-functional data acquisition board as well as the previously developed quarter-car simulation model. Road-friendliness of a semi-active suspension system controlled by the proposed control strategy was simulated via the HIL system using Dynamic Load Coefficient (DLC) and Dynamic Load Stress Factor (DLSF) criteria. Results: Compared to a passive suspension, a semi-active suspension system based on the fuzzy hybrid control strategy reduced the DLC and DLSF values. Conclusions: The proposed control strategy of semi-active suspension systems can be employed to improve road-friendliness of road vehicles.

NOx Emission Characteristic according to Aging of EGR Cooler in Non-Road Diesel Engine (EGR 적용 비도로 엔진의 쿨러 열화에 따른 질소산화물 배출특성)

  • Exhaust gas recirculation has the advantage of being low-cost and easy to control of NOx emission. Therefore, it is most generally used to reduce NOx emission according to strengthen regulation. In the case of a non-road engine, such as the agricultural engine, since it mainly operate a middle or high-load state, NOx emission is decreased in accordance with the mapping range of the EGR rate, but results in an increase in the particulate matter which is caused to deposit and fouling problem of the EGR system. This problem has become an important issue for maintaining the performance of the engine, as well as emission performance. This study had examined the effects of cooler aging on the performance of heat transfer efficiency and NOx emission in non-road diesel engine. As a result of the EGR cooler aging during 200 hours engine operation, the cooling performance decreased about 25% compared with that of fresh cooler and the NOx emission increased about 14.6% on NRSC(non-road steady cycle) and 20% on NRTC(non-road transient cycle) compared with that of fresh cooler respectively.

  • Mobile mapping system is a surveying system that use vehicle carrying various sensors as CCD camera, GPS and IMU(Inertial measurement Unit). This system capturing images of forward direction continuously while running road. Use these images, then acquire road and road facilities information as facilities position, size or maintenance condition. In this study, we organized data and each data processing steps that are needed for 3 dimensional positioning. And develop digital photogrammetry S/W easy to use and accurate for mobile mapping system.

Evaluation on the Effect of Air Quality Improvement Due to the Employment of Clean-Road System in Daegu (대구의 클린로드 시스템 운영에 따른 대기 질 개선효과 평가)

  • To improve air quality around a broad way, Daegu Metropolitan city employed the clean-road system at a part of the broad way of Dalgubul (Daigubul-daero) in 2011. The clean-road system in general is operated two times (4 am, 2 pm) during summertime. In case of scorching alert, the system is operated 3 times a day (4 am, 2 pm and 4 pm). To evaluate the effect of air quality improvement due to the system, we analyzed the time variation of monthly mean particulate matter (PM10) concentration in recent 3 years (2011-2013). The improvement of air quality was estimated at about 5~15 % under the system.

  • DSRC system is a communication system that consists of road side equipment and on board equipment to provide services of communication technology for intelligent transportation systems. In this paper, we carry out a short-range dedicated high-speed wireless communications via DSRC system based on board equipment that is installed in the vehicle and road side equipment through wireless channels of communication. on board equipment is system that have a memory which initialization information is stored, it loads physical layer and MAC layer, LLC layer, L7 layer in turn. In the upper, it should analyze the various commands that are sent from roadside base stations, and carry out the operation which is in accordance with the command. and also it designs the structure of protocol stack which is TRM Layer loaded that is to initialize on L7 layer and MAC layer and efficiently designs operation between on board equipment and the road side equipment.
