A GPS sensor is widely used in many areas such as navigation, or air traffic control. Particularly, the car navigation system is equipped with GPS sensor for locational information. However, when a car goes through a tunnel, forest, or built-up area, GPS receiver cannot get the enough number of satellite signals. In these situations, a GPS receiver does not reliably work. A GPS error can be formulated by sum of bias error and sensor noise. The bias error is generated by the geometric arrangement of satellites and sensor noise error is generated by the corrupted signal noise of receiver. To enhance GPS sensor accuracy, these two kinds of errors have to be removed. In this research, we make the road database which includes Road Database File (RDF). RDF includes road information such as road connection, road condition, coordinates of roads, lanes, and stop lines. Among the information, we use the stop line coordinates as a feature point to correct the GPS bias error. If the relative distance and angle of a stop line from a car are detected and the detected stop line can be associated with one of the stop lines in the database, we can measure the bias error and correct the car's location. To remove the other GPS error, sensor noise, the Kalman filter algorithm is used. Additionally, using the RDF, we can get the information of the road where the car belongs. It can be used to help the GPS correction algorithm or to give useful information to users.

Recently, Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) has been applied to satisfy increasing traffic demand every year and to solve many traffic problems. Especially, Advanced Traveller Information System(ATIS) is a transportation system to optimize the trip of each other vehicle. It is important to provide the driver with quick and comfortable path from source to destination. However, it is difficult to provide a shortest path in a road network with dynamic cost. Because the existing research has a static cost. Therefore, in this paper we propose an operator for searching traffic dependent shortest path. The proposed operator finds the shortest path from source to destination using a current time cost and a difference cost of past time cost. Such a method can be applied to the road status with time. Also, we can expect a predicted arrival time as well as the shortest path from source to destination. It can be applied to efficiently application service as ITS and have the advantages of using the road efficiently, reducing the distribution cost, preparing an emergency quickly, reducing the trip time, and reducing an environmental pollution owing to the saving the fuel.

In this study, we analyzed applicability of object database, designed the concept model based on object-oriented idea for measurement data management, and applied the design model to object database. The concept model composes three sub models Infrastructure managing information model, Infrastructure measurement data model, and Measurement unit model. The process to expand measurement data of new type was executed easily without changing database schema in object database. The process to expand measurement data of new type was executed easily without changing database schema in object database. Therefore, applicability of new technology to infrastructures for building a safety management network of road bridges could be increased with object database system.
PURPOSES : The objective of this research is establishing system components and optimizing operational procedures in order to systematically manage road cave-ins in urban areas. METHODS : Based on the literature review and alternative comparison, optimization methods is suggested. RESULTS : Throughout the study, location referencing system, database structure, and operation strategy(procedure) were clarified, and the optimization methods for each item were suggested. CONCLUSIONS : Road cave-in management should be focused on user safety rather than focusing on economic aspects. The occurrence of road cave-in should be addressed thoroughly by road management system(location referencing system, database structure, and operation strategy(procedure), and the optimization methods), since they are closely related to road users' safety.

Because of road construction and expansion, Update of the road traffic facilities DB is steadily increased each year, and, Increasing drivers and cars, safety signs for traffic safety are required management and additional installation continuously. To update Safety Sign database promptly, we have developed auto recognition function of safety sign, and analyzed coordinates accuracy. The purpose of this study was to propose methods to update about road traffic facilities efficiently. For this purpose, omni-directional camera was calibrated for acquisition of 3-dimensional coordinates, integrated GPS/IMU/DMI system and applied image processing. In this experiment, we proposed a effective method to update database of road traffic facilities for digital map.
In Korea, previously implemented road construction project caused a big budget waste due to overestimation of transport demand. There could be reasons for such inaccuracy of transport demand estimation, but the main reasons are: (1) low reliability of used basic road transport data and (2) inadequate sharing of data among agencies/departments. The National Transport Database and the Household Travel Database in Seoul Metropolitan Area, two representing basic road transport database, will be used to the establishment of a road construction plan that will be promoted afterwards. However, these materials have problems such as low reliability and inadequateness, too. Hence, focusing on transport demand estimation related databases, this paper will make proposals for enhancing their reliability and data sharing.

This study is a study on the development of AEBS test scenarios for traffic accidents in Korea, and was compared and analyzed using the Traffic Accident Analysis Program. To ensure the safety of passengers and pedestrians in traffic accidents, the number of cars equipped with ADAS is increasing rapidly at all car manufacturers in each country. For traffic accidents used in this study, the domestic traffic accident database (ACCC) produced by SAMSONG was used. Domestic traffic accidents differ from overseas traffic accidents in terms of road type, signal system, driver's seat location and number of vehicles. ACCC databases, which supplemented and reinforced these differences, built a database based on the PC-CRASH program. In the study, we analyze the types of accidents to develop comparative scenarios for each type of road and collision type of traffic accidents. When the road types of traffic accidents in Korea were divided into five types and the collision types were divided into six, it was confirmed that the most types of FRONT-SIDE crashes appeared at the intersection. It is expected that the frequency of possible traffic accidents and collision types can be predicted according to the road type in the accident database, we that it can be used as an AEBS test scenario development suitable for the domestic road environment.

This paper presents the implementation of an automatic road sign recognizer for an intelligent transport system. In this system, lists of road signs are processed with actions such as line segmentation, single sign segmentation, and storing an artificial sign in the database. The process of taking the video stream and extracting the road sign and storing in the database is called the road sign recognition. This paper presents a study on recognizing traffic sign patterns using a segmentation technique for the efficiency and the speed of the system. The image is converted from one scale to another scale such as RGB to grayscale or grayscale to binary. The images are pre-processed with several image processing techniques, such as threshold techniques, Gaussian filters, Canny edge detection, and the contour technique.
In this paper, a graph data model is introduced to effectively recognize the situation between each object on the road detected by vehicles or road infrastructure sensors. The proposed method builds a graph database by modeling each object on the road as a node of the graph and the relationship between objects as an edge of the graph, and updates object properties and edge properties in real time. In this case, the relationship between objects represented as edges is set when there is a possibility of approach between objects in consideration of the position, direction, and speed of each object. Finally, we propose a spatial indexing technique for graph nodes and edges to update the road object graph database represented through the proposed graph modeling method continuously in real time. To show the superiority of the proposed indexing technique, we compare the proposed indexing based database update method to the non-indexing update method through simulation. The results of the simulation show the proposed method outperforms more than 10 times to the non-indexing method.

This research deals with generating via points for autonomous navigation on a roadway for unmanned vehicles. When a vehicle plans a path from a starting point to a goal point, it should be able to map out which lane on which road it passes by. For this purpose, we should organize positional information of roads and save it as a database. This paper presents methods to save the database and to plan a shortest path to the goal by generating via points in consideration of the moving direction and the lane directions. Then we prove that the proposed algorithm can find the optimal path on the road through simulations.
