Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is promising, sustainable and efficient air transportation in a metropolitan area. Korean government has recently announced operation demonstration plans as a step toward commercialization of UAM. However, there is lack of understanding on the potential impact of weather on UAM operation. We collected weather observations from Gimpo International Airport and 5 automatic weather stations (AWS) along UAM corridor of the Han-River to assess weather barriers such as low visibility, wind gust and wind shear. The results show the frequency of low visibility near the corridor fluctuated significantly from year to year depending on the concentration of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) in Seoul. The frequency of high wind speed-shift calculated using 1-minute wind observations was increased not only during the spring season (March, April, and May) but also the beginning of rainy season (Jun). In addition, a chance of high wind shear from 1-minute wind observations varied by the stations, suggesting that the condition is largely affected by topography including a river and high-rise buildings. These basic weather properties suggest that there are substantial weather barriers to UAM operations along the Han-River Corridor, while they cannot properly surveil micro-scale weather conditions in detail such as wind gust and wind shear over the corridor. Thus, this study suggests that potential barriers related to adverse weather need to be evaluated, building high-density weather observations infrastructure prior to UAM demonstration and commercialization.
Purpose: To examine the economic effects of logistics under the influence of policies. Research design, data and methodology: This study is the first to use the panel data of 31 provinces and municipalities in China from 2012 to 2021, and use the OLS and DID models to evaluate whether the New Western Land-Sea Corridor (NWLSC) has promoted the economic development of the regions along the corridor. Results: The NWLSC has stimulated local economic growth by promoting the development of transportation, postal, and telecommunications industries along the corridor. Further, considering the locational differences of the regions along the NWLSC, we examined the differences in economic effects between regions along the Yangtze River and those not along the Yangtze River under the background of NWLSC implementation. We found that waterway and airway transport located along the NWLSC and in the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB) region can significantly promote economic growth. However, for regions located along the NWLSC but not in the YREB region, the impact of roadway, railway, and airway transport in these regions on economic growth is more significant. Conclusions: This study has important reference value on how to use logistics to promote the economic and cross-border commerce development of landlocked countries or regions.

This research aimed at measuring Park and Green Satisfaction (PGS) using subjective indicators of 'surface, line and spot' green evaluated by citizens. Also frequency of visits to park and green measured using objective indicators (number of visits) to find the relationship with PGS. A conceptual model of PGS was developed to relate evaluation to satisfaction and finally to utilization of open spaces. A sample of 500 questionnaire survey was employed for Uijeongbu City in Korea. A Structual Equation Modeling (AMOS) techniques was used to test the hypothesized relationship among factors (construct). As a result, first, PGS was explained by three latent factors of 'urban park' (${\gamma}=0.54$), 'linear facilities' (${\gamma}=0.25$), and 'surface green' (${\gamma}=0.15$) respectively. These three exogenous construct was found very useful classification system for open spaces of cities. Second, PGS (${\gamma}=0.34$) was found as a mediating variable to utilization of open spaces and also PGS was closely related to citizens Environmental Quality Satisfaction (EQS), such concept as, 'livability' and 'aesthetic quality'. The more satisfied with park and green the more people use the space. The PGS was an important QOL indicator together with the subjective indicator of 'livability'. Third, jogging and walking trails and bike ways along the river corridor was the most important green facilities contribute to the PGS and EQS. The near the distance (within 500m) the more number of visit to river corridor (green way). The river corridor promote accessibility to nature and other parks.
One of the most important elements in creating the pleasant residential environment is the wind. For the pleasant residential environment, it is important that the air pollutants are not stagnant but appropriately and swiftly diffused and removed by winds. Especially, the river becomes a main route of wind in the urban core. So, it is necessary to secure the space to circulate the sufficient cool air to this area. But, recently many high-rise apartment complexes have been built along the rivers that have the fine view and pleasant environment. As a result, the cool and fresh air coming from mountains hardly diffuses into the urban core but just flows along the river. Considering the facts above, this study selected types of building layout and kind of land cover as complex or architectural design factors that have an influence on wind environment. Based on the factors, it analyzed change in wind environment according to apartment complex development aiming at the Sinchun area which is Daegu Metropolitan City's main wind corridor. Therefore, when apartment complex development is planned in the future, it can offer basic data for establishing plans for more pleasant complexes. As a result of the analysis, it was shown that the layout type of housing and the building height plan in consideration of wind corridor around the river were pretty effective in increasing the wind speed and circulating the air in the apartment complex. Therefore, if wind corridor is considered when apartment complex development is planed in the future, this study can offer useful information contributing to improve comfort in residential environment in the level of complex building as well as city planning.

The river environment of many streams in Korea has been deteriorated through the rapid industrialization and urbanization since the early 1960s. Deterioration includes single-purpose channel works for flood control and dense riparian land uses such even as the covering of the channel, as well as water pollution. As a result, many streams have lost their precious river environment such as ecological habitat, river friendliness and riparian scenery. In the early 1990s, however, the necessity of restoring those channelized streams was felt among the river engineers as well as environmentalists in Korea. This article describes a summary of the literature review of the stream restoration guidelines and relevant publication including those published in Japan, Europe and USA. A special focus is on the Stream Corridor Restoration, which was recently in the USA in 1998. First, the meaning and background of stream restoration is reviewed. Last, a draft of the contents of the stream restoration guideline, which is being developed by the authors and their colleagues, is briefly introduced.

The modern times is as special as from the river, the river is very important of our life. The importance to preserve the river environment has been issued and the river developing method is being changed to use potential function of nature as well as flood control. Essential element of the river restoration is a vegetation. The flow resistance by vegetation along the river banks is greatly increase the flood stage. Therefore, the flow resistance due to vegetation in the river and roughness coefficient changes to understand the hydraulic characteristics is an important elements in the river restoration. The purpose of this study is to analyze the flood stage and the aspects of riverbed changes due to the corridor restoration with river vegetation. In order to simulate the flood stage and riverbed changes, HEC-RAS, RMA-2, and SED-2D model were applied for the upstream and downstream in study reaches, respectively.

The objective of this planning proposal is to rehabilitate the urban stream which has been ecologically disturbed in the urban process. The experimental stream, Su-am stream located in Anyang City is typical urban stream in adjacent land use and the spatial condition. The stream in the watershed context, is the second tributary of Han River, in the Anyangcheon watershed. The Characteristics of the stream reach were analyzed by the river corridor survey. In the conceptual phase, Rehabilitation Programs were established based on the hydrological, ecological and spatial characteristics of the stream. Spatial zoning concept according to the characteristics of the stream and adjacent land use, was suggested 4 types of zoning; ecological preservation zone, natural landscape zone, neighborhood water-friendly zone and CBD water-friendly zone. Implementation Practices can be summarized as follow: For The longitudinal river continuum, some In-stream practices were suggested and implemented; such as channel alignment, step & pool, pool & riffle and low-flow channel bank. For latitudinal continuum and intimate spatial relationship between Sam-duk Park & Su-am stream, gentle sloped bank was planned and implemented. After stream improvement & ecological Implementation, follow-up monitoring and adaptive management programs will be a meaningful process for ecological rehabilitation.
