  • This study analyzes taxi driver's risk-taking propensity with respect to risk-taking behaviour and traffic locus of control. In order to explore the traffic risk-taking, we present a predictive model by structural analysis of driver's risk-taking propensity. By applying this model to survey data from taxi drivers, we can observe that driver's risk-taking propensity has a significant impact on the traffic violation intention, and the higher perception of law and the lower lack of law-abiding drivers have, the more they tend to violate. Second, we test using multivariate analysis if the level of risk-taking propensity differs by the locus of control( external or internal). Drivers of external control shows higher risk-taking level compared to those of internal control so that the risk-taking propensity shows difference according to the locus of control for the responsibility of traffic accidents. The structural equation model of our study yielded ${\chi}^2$ = 279.7, ${\chi}^2$/df = 1.55, RMSEA = 0.44, GFI = 0.911, TLI = 0.916, CFI = 0.929.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze whether SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities affect the export performance of the SMEs and to empirically test the moderating effect of the CEO's risk propensity on such a relationship. We obtained data from 190 SMEs located in Gwangju and Jeonnam Province in Korea through survey and performed a regression analysis for hypothesis testing based on these data. As a result of the analysis, it was found that SMEs' technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities had a significantly positive (+) effect on export performance, respectively. Also, the CEO's risk propensity was found to reinforce the relationship between technical competence and export performance, and the relationship between marketing capabilities and export performance was also found to be strengthened in the positive (+) direction. These results suggest that it is necessary for SMEs to continuously develop technological capabilities and international marketing capabilities to achieve successful export performance in overseas markets. Also, the CEO's propensity to promote these relationships may be important.

  • The level of sunk cost and risk-taking theory have been offered as one explanation for the escalation of commitment behavior. This Study attempted to replicate Keil's study in Korea. Keil examined the level of sunk cost associated with the risk propensity and risk perception of decision-makers, and these factors are assessed for cross-cultural robustness using matching laboratory experiments carried out in three countries. The level of sunk cost and the risk perception of decision-makers contributed significantly to their continuous willingness to their project. Moreover, the risk propensity of decision-makers was inversely related to risk perception, and this inverse relationship was significantly more weak in Korea than in Singapore. These results show that the sunk-cost effect exists across cultures, and that the risk-taking behaviors are partially mediated by cultural factors.

  • In order to improve organization performance by CEO's leadership, the control systems have to be designed in accordance with CEO's strategic orientation. A management control systems (MCS) is a system which gathers and uses information to evaluate the performance of different organizational resources like human, physical, financial and also the organization as a whole considering the organizational strategies. The current study is conducted with the objective to explore the effects of CEO's Characteristics (Risk-taking tendency, and Achievement motivation) and control types (Behavioral control, and Result control) on organization performance. The characteristics of ceo - behavior control and risk-taking propensity - results in significantly positive effect on management control. On the other hand, risk-taking propensity has influence negatively on behavior control. The behavioral control is received negative influence from risk-taking propensity. and it received positive influence from motivation. and then it has effect on organization performance(indirct effect). To achieve the purpose of this study, Structural Equation Model (SEM) has been applied.

  • In the cut-throat competitive environment of business, large-scale IS investment is becoming inevitable strategic necessity for gaining competitive advantage. However. it bears great deal of risk over all the associated processes so that the investment decisions need to be taken in a greatly careful manner. Nonetheless, Korean organizations are prominently showing risk taking behaviors regarding major is investment, in terms of system downsizing. Although decision theory argues decision makers' rational choice of options through the assessment of risk and benefit, the notable trend toward system downsizing in Korea defies common understandings on IS project risk. Furthermore, it encourages us to investigate many impenetrable characteristics underlying organizational risk taking decisions with IS investment. We found out that there is Significant effect of IS decision makers' risk propensity when they make system downsizing decisions. Moreover. we Identified that IS decision makers do not get a strong pressure of cost savings and have tendencies to mimic competitor's decisions.

  • Objectives Risk taking has been implicated in the development of various psychiatric disorders. Previous studies have indicated that risk taking behavior is associated with high levels of impulsiveness. Risk taking entail uncertain situation that outcome probability is unknown. This study tested impulsivity, intolerance of uncertainty and risk taking behavior. Methods A total of 73 participants completed a test battery comprised of the UPPS-P scale as a psychometric measurement of five dimensions of impulsivity, Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale, and Balloon Analog Risk Task (BART) as a behavioral measure of risk taking. The Pearson correlation analysis was used. Results The sensation seeking factor was positively correlated with BART measure (r = 0.27, p = 0.02). Specifically, the relationship between sensation seeking and BART was significant in females. Conclusions Among the five factors of UPPS-P, only the sensation seeking factor predicts risk taking propensity.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to empirically identify the risky behavior of mobile device users using the Internet of Things on a situational perspective. Design/methodology/approach This study made a design of the research model based on model of the determinants of risk behavior. Data were collected through a survey including hypothetical scenario. SmartPLS 2.0 was used for the structural model analysis and t-test was conducted to compare the between normal and situational behavior. Findings The results were as follows. First, the central roles of risk propriety and risk perception were verified empirically. Second, we identified the role of locus of control as a new factor of impact on risky behavior. Third, mobile risk propensity has been shown to increase risk perception. Fouth, it has been shown that risk perception does not directly affect risky behavior and reduce the relationship between mobile risk propensity and risk behavior. According to the empirical analysis result, Determinants of risk behavior for mobile users were identified based on a theoretical framework. And it raised the need to pay attention to the impact of locus of control on risk behavior in the IS security field. It provided direction to the approach to risky behavior of mobile device users. In addition, this study confirmed that there was a possibility of taking risky behavior in the actual decision-making.

  • Creating jobs that will lead future communities is essential, and for this purpose, educational programs and support projects to instill entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention in entrepreneurs have become essential. In this study, we aimed to investigate the influence of individuals' MBTI personality types on entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention. A survey was conducted with 294 participants nationwide, and factor analysis and T-tests were used to analyze the differences in entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intention based on MBTI. As a results, extroversion type showed higher risk-taking propensity, openness to new ideas, and entrepreneurial intention compared to introversion type, while intuition types showed higher risk-taking propensity and entrepreneurial intention compared to sensing types. These results suggest the importance of considering MBTI personality types in entrepreneurship education and support programs to increase the likelihood of entrepreneurial success. This will enable more effective and efficient support for entrepreneurs.

  • Despite intensive inquiry, we still know relatively little about the entrepreneurship. The lack of progress in entrepreneurship may be due to the theories and methods used to identify those characteristics. But the appropriate approach for studying entrepreneurial behavior remains contentious. This study model used three themes (achievement motivation, risk-taking propensity, and preference for innovation) in order to measure a proclivity for entrepreneurship. In this study there was a significant difference in the plan for venture creation and the confidence for venture creation between high-entrepreneurship group and low-entrepreneurship group. In addition, It is found that proclivity for entrepreneurship is significantly related to create new venture and to build up confidence regarding venture creation.
