The delamination in the filament-wound composite flywheel rotor often lowers the performance of the flywheel energy storage system. A conventional ring type hub usually causes tensile stresses on the inner surface of the composite rotor, resulting in lowering the maximum rotational speed of the rotor. In this work, the stress and strain distributions within a hybrid composite rotor were derived from the two-dimensional governing equation with the specified boundary conditions, and an optimum pressure at the inner surface of the rotor was proposed to minimize the strength ratio and maximize the storage energy. A split type hub was introduced to apply the calculated optimum pressure at the inner surface, and a spin test was performed up to 40,000 rpm to demonstrate the performance of the split type hub with radial and circumferential strains measured using a wireless telemetry system. From the analysis and the test, it was found that the split type hub successfully generates a compressive pressure on the inner surface of the rotor, which can enhance the performance of the composite rotor by lowering the strength ratio within the rotor.
This study analyzed the structural and electrical characteristics of an iron fittings type Corrugated Stainless Steel Tubing (CSST) damaged by the Primary Current Injection Test System (PCITS). CSST consists of cladding, tube, nuts, clamp ring, flare cap, socket, and ball valve. For an evaluation of the dielectric withstand voltage, the area between the live part and non-live part of the CCST shall withstand a voltage of 220 V AC for one minute. For an evaluation of the insulation performance by 500 V DC, it is required that the insulation exceed more than $1M{\Omega}$ before the temperature rise test, $0.3M{\Omega}$ after the test. Although the average resistance of the product was $11.5m{\Omega}$, that of the product damaged at a current of 130 A by the PCITS was $11.50m{\Omega}$. Furthermore, parts of the cladding were melted and black smoke appeared when a current of 130 A applied for 10 s. After 60 s, most parts were heated and turned red. At 120 s, the parts that turned red had widened. Although it did not form a normal distribution because the P value was 0.019 with a confidential interval of 95%, it revealed outstanding characteristics with an AD (Anderson-Darling) value of 0.896 and a standard deviation of 0.5573.
Silent information regulator 2 (Sir2) or sirtuins are NAD(+)-dependent deacetylases, which hydrolyze the acetyllysine residues. In mammals, sirtuins are classified into seven different classes (SIRT1-7). SIRT1 was reported to be involved in age related disorders like obesity, metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes mellitus and Parkinson’s disease. Activation of SIRT1 is one of the promising approaches to treat these age related diseases. In this study, we have used HipHop module of CATALYST to identify a series of pharmacophore models to screen SIRT1 enhancing molecules. Three molecules from Sirtris Pharmaceuticals were selected as training set and 607 sirtuin activator molecules were used as test set. Five different hypotheses were developed and then validated using the training set and the test set. The results showed that the best pharmacophore model has four features, ring aromatic, positive ionization and two hydrogen-bond acceptors. The best hypothesis from our study, Hypo2, screened high number of active molecules from the test set. Thus, we suggest that this four feature pharmacophore model could be helpful to screen novel SIRT1 activator molecules. Hypo2-virtual screening against Maybridge database reveals seven molecules, which contains all the critical features. Moreover, two new scaffolds were identified from this study. These scaffolds may be a potent lead for the SIRT1 activation.

Free body diagram analysis is done for key parts of pilot stage of LLV (Load Limit Valve) which is used to protect overload for static structural test of aerospace flight vehicle. It is shown through the analysis that diameter ratio($D_2)^{ten}/D_2)^{comp}$) of two poppets in a pilot stage must be equal to piston area ratio($A_{comp}/A_{ten}$) of a hydraulic actuator for making a poppet open consistently at constant force applied by an actuator. The result of the analysis is verified by measuring geometries of the poppets in the four different LLVs which are corresponding to four actuators with different capacity and have been used after being imported in this laboratory. Results of "Adjuster resolution tests" with two different pilot stages show the max. deviation of Fi(actuator force in instant of opening poppet) from average Fi obtained for each turn of adjuster is 0.3KN and max. deviation of the Fi normalized by average Fi of each turn of adjuster is 3.7%. From the results, it is verified that the two pilot stages with same poppet diameter ratio make a poppet consistently open at Fis within ${\pm}3.7%$ deviation from the average Fi. The deviation is shown to be caused from frictional force of O-ring in the poppet. Additionally, design factors for poppet spring and adjuster, which are also key parts of the pilot stage, are distinguished and procedure for deciding the factors are also shown in this study.

The biofilm of white-rot fungi fully exposed in atmosphere are that operation is easy, management cost and energy waste is low. To develop biofilm of white-rot fungi fully exposed in atmosphere, basic test are as follows. To select most effective microoganism species, investigated treatment characteristics of wastewater containing non-biodegradable material for three species of white-rot fungi(Phanerochaete chrysosporium PSBL-1, Phanerochaete chrysosporium KCTC 6147, Trametes sp. KFCC 10941) and activated sludge. And then investigated attached and detached biomass of selected white-rot fungi species on HBC ring surface. Among the three strains tested, P. chrysosporium PSBL-1 and P. chrysosporium KCTC 6147 showed higher efficiency for organics removal than Trametes sp. KFCC 10941, and P. chrysosporium PSBL-1 showed higher efficiency for nitrogen removal than P. chrysosporium KCTC 6147 and Trametes sp. KFCC 10941. Respectively, 51$\sim$59.8%, 57.5$\sim$60.3% of NBDCOD was removed for P. chrysosporium PSBL-1 and P. chrysosporium 6147 in pH 3.5$\sim$5.5. TN removal efficiency showed 39.3$\sim$85.3%, 3.4$\sim$7.6% for P. chrysosporium PSBL-1 and P. chrysosporium 6147 in pH 4.5$\sim$11.5 respectively. Considered that white-rot fungi remove organism and nitrogen simultaneously, the microorganism selected white-rot fungi P. chrysosporium PSBL-1. White-rot fungi P. chrysosporium PSBL-1 attached on HBC ring surface 4,538 mg/L, 4,546 mg/L, 4,531 mg/L after 5 minutes, 4,575 mg/L, 4,573 mg/L, 4,568 mg/L after 10 minutes from initial MLSS 4,600 mg/L in pH 4, 7 and 10 respectively. Also detached biomass is negligible from right after attachment to 10 day in pH 4, 7 and 10.
We have designed, fabricated and tested an integrated planar DC SQUID which incorporates input coil and mofulation coil in thin film structure. The SQUID uses Nb /Al-oxide /Nb Josephson junctions and Pd shunt resistors, and the SQUID loop incorporates two rings connected in series forming figure '8' structure and has the advantage of a negligibly small circulating current for the spatially homogeneous noise fields. The devices were fabricated using photolithographic technique, RF magnetron sputtering, anodic oxidation for insulation and lift-off process. The preliminary test of the fabricated SQUID at 4.2 K showed that the flux-voltage characteristics were smooth enough to adopt standard readout system, and the voltage noise was too small to be measured by direct method and so the white noise was thought to be less than $10^{-4}\;{\phi}_o/\;\sqrt{H_z}$.

Laser Inertial Navigation System(LINS) consists of Ring Laser Gyroscopes(RLG) and accelerometers. RLG has a lock-in region in which there is zero output for input angular rates less than 0.1deg/sec. The lock-in region is generated by the imperfect mirrors in RLG. To avoid the lock-in region, sinusoidal motion which is called dither motion is applied on RLG. Therefore without the fault in LINS, the dither motion must be measured by RLG/accelerometer. In this paper, we propose the method to detect the fault of LINS through checking out whether or not the dither motion is always measured by RLG/accelerometer using the Fast Fourier Transformation(FFT) on the real time. The feasibility of the fault detection method proposed in this paper is verified through the stationary and van test.

The focus of this investigation is to evaluate the effect of joining parameter on the microstructure and mechanical properties of welds produced by friction stir lap welding. The dissimilar Al alloys, KS5J32 and AA6K31, were joined by friction stir lap welding technique under several welding conditions, and KS5J32 alloy was placed on the top of AA6K31 alloy. The tool rotation speeds were 1000, 1250, and 1500rpm, and the welding speeds were 100, 300, 500, 700mm/min, respectively. The results showed that two shapes of nugget, such as onion ring and irregular vortex type, were observed with various revolutionary pitch. In all welding conditions, fracture occurred at the soften region of bottom sheet(AA6K31) and the strengths were 64~78% of those of base metal. Fractured positions were classified into three types : HAZ, triple point, void depending on the revolutionary pitch. The actual thickness of specimen at the fractured location was decreased with decreasing heat input. A linear relationship exists between the effective thickness of fractured position and peak load.
Purpose: This study was conducted evaluate the influence of reconstruction parameters of micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) images on bone mineral density (BMD) analyses. Materials and Methods: The sample consisted of micro-CT images of the maxillae of 5 Wistar rats, acquired using a SkyScan 1174 unit (Bruker, Kontich, Belgium). Each acquisition was reconstructed following the manufacturer's recommendations(standard protocol; SP) for the application of artifact correction tools(beam hardening correction [BHC], 45%; smoothing filter, degree 2; and ring artifact correction [RAC], level 5). Additionally, images were reconstructed with 36 protocols combining different settings of artifact correction tools (P0 to P35). BMD analysis was performed for each reconstructed image. The BMD values obtained for each protocol were compared to those obtained using the SP through repeated-measures analysis of variance with the Dunnett post hoc test(α=0.05). Results: The BMD values obtained from all protocols that used a BHC of 45% did not significantly differ from those obtained using the SP (P>0.05). The other protocols all yielded significantly different BMD values from the SP(P<0.05). The smoothing and RAC tools did not affect BMD values. Conclusion: BMD values measured on micro-CT images were influenced by the BHC level. Higher levels of BHC induced higher values of BMD.
Identification of the selective chemical features for Aurora-B inhibitors gained much attraction in drug discovery for the treatment of cancer. Hence to identify the Aurora-B critical features various techniques were utilized such as pharmacophore generation, virtual screening, homology modeling, molecular dynamics, and docking. Top ten hypotheses were generated for Aurora-B and Aurora-A. Among ten hypotheses, HypoB1 and HypoA1 were selected as a best hypothesis for Aurora-B and Aurora-A based on cluster analysis and ranking score, respectively. Test set result revealed that ring aromatic (RA) group in HypoB1 plays an essential role in differentiates Aurora-B from Aurora-A inhibitors. Hence, HypoB1 used as 3D query in virtual screening of databases and the hits were sorted out by applying drug-like properties and molecular docking. The molecular docking result revealed that 15 hits have shown strong hydrogen bond interactions with Ala157, Glu155, and Lys106. Hence, we proposed that HypoB1 might be a reasonable hypothesis to retrieve the structurally diverse and selective leads from various databases to inhibit Aurora-B.
