A finite element analysis and Monte Carlo method have been applied to calculate the ppressure pprofiles around the ppohang Light Source (ppLS) electron storage ring with the aim of ppredicting the pperformance of the vacuum system designed for the ppLS vacuum system. After ppropperly choosing the design pparameters, the ppressure distribution are calculated as a function of the integrated stored beam current [AmppHrs]. The effect of changes of the vacuum pparameters, such as installed ppumpping sppeeds and synchrotron radiation induced gas desorpption rates on the ppressure pprofile, is also studied. The results indicate that the use of lumpped non-evapporable getter ppumpps together with spputter ion ppumpps for ppumpping the ppLS down to the required ppressure is ppossible in the ppresence of synchrotron induced gas loads, after resonable beam cleaning time.

The kicker modulator was upgraded and installed in 1995. The PLS-II injection kicker modulator is configured with series resonant circuit. A total of four kicker magnets are used to distribute the normal storage ring beam orbit toward the septum magnet wall. Only one kicker modulator is used to drive the four kicker magnets. It is not adjust the current magnitude and timing of magnets. During the kicking, the beam has oscillation of 2 mm horizontal direction and $200{\mu}m$ vertical direction in present injector system. Our goals is to decrease the oscillation less than $300{\mu}m$. To give balanced current for all four magnets and to have precise timing between magnet current, we have plan to divide kicker power supply into four individual power supply. In this paper, the design of new individual kicker power supply and Fabrication of the new injector system is presented.

Synchrotron 방사광으로 부터 soft X-ray, 광에너지 300-1200eV, 영역의 특정 파장을 선택할 수 있는 단색화 장치의 설계에 대하여 알아보았다. C.T.Chenㅡ이 새로운 제안에 의해 건설되어 그 성능이 기존의 여러 단색화 장치보다 우수하다고 알려진 Brookhaven National Laboratory의 CEM(cylindrical element monochromator) 형태인 Dragon beam line을 모델로 하여 PLS(Pohang Light Source) 방사광 가속기의 구조에 맞게 광학적 설계시 고려해야할 조건을 조사하였다.

본 논문에서는 나노 임프린트 기술을 이용한 폴리머 링 광공진기를 제안하고 구현하였다. 공진기 역할을 하는 링 도파로에서의 전파손실과 링 및 버스 도파로 간의 광파워 결합계수를 빔전파방법을 도입하여 계산하였으며, 또한 전달 매트릭스 방법을 도입하여 이들이 소자에 미치는 영향을 분석하고 소자를 설계하였다. 특히, smoothing buffor layer를 갖는 임프린트용 스탬프를 도입하여 다음과 같은 성과를 얻을 수 있었다. 먼저 식각공정으로 얻어진 스탬프 상의 도파로 패턴의 측면 거칠기를 링 도파로의 산란손실을 개선함으로써 Q값을 획기적으로 향상시켰다. 또한, 결합영역에서 버스와 링 도파로 간의 간격을 기존 lithography 공정에서는 불가능하였던 $0.2{\mu}m$정도까지 효과적으로 줄이고 제어함으로써 링과 도파로 간의 광파워 결합을 정밀하게 조절할 수 있게 되었다. 제작된 소자의 성능을 살펴보면, 링 반경이 $200{\mu}m$인 경우에 대해 1550 nm 파장 대역에서 Q값은 ~103800이고, 소멸비는 ~11 dB, free spectral range는 1.16 nm였다.

The degradation of image due to the finite size of sensing device has been one of the problems to all of the digital imaging systems. The improvement of the spatial resolution has been attempted by "differential method" with fixed sensor size and finer sampling. The computer simulations were carried out for the cases of PLF system (Parallel Linear Fan-beam) and SR(Stationary Ring) system and the results are presented.

Tensile behavior of polypropylene fiber reinforced concrete due to restrained shrinkage has been investigated experimentally by ring and beam tests. Parameters include types of concrete, water-cement ratio, volume fraction of fiber and steel ratio. Results show that little influence of the addition of polypropylene(Vf=0.1%) has been observed as expected and results from other researches.

Mg 원자선속의 냉각에 쓰일 diode laser의 특성과 이용가능성을 연구하였다. Mg 원자의 3P2-3D3 천이의 공명선 383.8nm를 얻기 위하여 Mitsubishi사의 ML형 laser diode를 택하여 주입전류와 온도를 변화시키고, 회절격자를 써서 767.6nm의 laser 광을 얻은 후 LiIO3 결정에 의해 383.8nm인 제2조화파를 생성하였다. Ring cavity 내에서 기본파가 공명할 때 증강계수는 15이었다.

Principles of electron diffraction patterns in transmission electron microscope are described for beginners in terms of reciprocal lattices and Ewald sphere. Analysis of both ring patterns and spot patterns are illustrated with practical examples as well as basic calibrations of TEM. Especially convergent beam electron diffraction method is emphasized for the determination of lattice parameters, microstrains, and thickness of thin foil followed by a review of microcomputer programs for the electron diffraction analyses explained in this paper.

Using the "MAGIC" code, computer simulation is performed to design a cathode structure which provides a radial distribution of electron beam density matching the field distribution of the $TM_{05}$ mode. Thus, very narrow band $TM_{05}$ mode microwave radiation can be generated in an open end waveguide. The simulation results show that the vircator can indeed be operated at the selected frequency 10.2GHz with a very narrow bandwidth(${\Delta}{\omega}/{\omega}$ < 1%).
