Background: Individuals with mechanical neck pain show biomechanical and neurophysiological changes, including cervical spine muscle weakness. As a result of deep muscle weakness, it causes stability disability and reduced upper thoracic spine mobility, which finally leads to functional movement restriction such as limited range of motion and dysfunction. Recent studies have shown that thoracic spine manipulation and mobilization could reduce symptoms of mechanical neck pain in patients. Objects: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of thoracic mobility exercise on cervicothoracic function, posture feature, and pain intensity in individuals with mechanical neck pain. Methods: The study subjects were 26 persons who were randomly assigned to the experimental (with thoracic mobility exercise) and control groups (without thoracic mobility exercise), with 13 subjects in each group. The cervicothoracic function (neck functional disability level and cervicothoracic range of motion), posture feature, and pain rating (using a quadrupled visual analogue scale [QVAS]) were measured before, after 3 weeks, and after 6 weeks. Results: Statistically significant group-by-time interactions were found with repeated analyses of variance for the Korean neck disability index (KNDI), all cervical range of motion (CROM), all thoracic range of motion (TROM), cranial rotation angle, sagittal shoulder posture (SSP), and QVAS (p<.05). All groups showed significant improvements from all times in all the evaluated methods. The KNDI, CROM, TROM of left rotation, and SSP in the experimental group showed significant improvements after 3 weeks, and the TROM of the right rotation and QVAS in the experimental group showed significant improvements after 6 weeks when compared with the control group. Conclusion: Thoracic mobility exercise during 6 weeks might be effective intervention to improve the functional level, posture feature, and QVAS pain rating for managing individuals with mechanical neck pain.
Purpose: This study was done to assess the effect of changes in forward head posture (FHP), neck mobility and headache clinical parameters on episodic tension-type headache (ETTH) and chronic tension-type headache (CTTH) who did craniocervial exercises. Methods: Twelve CTTH subjects and twelve ETTH subjects were studied. Side-view pictures of subjects were taken in both sitting and standing positions, in order to assess FHP by measuring the craniovertebral angle. Cervical range of motion (CROM) was employed to measure cervical mobility. A headache diary was kept to assess headache intensity, frequency, and duration. All subjects did three types of craniocervical exercise over 8 weeks. Measurements were done at pre-treatment, and at 4 and 8 weeks post-treatment. Results: Forward head posture and headache-related clinical parameters showed a significant improvement after craniocervical exercise (p<0.05). Flexion/extension and left/right rotation of CROM was significantly increased after the intervention (p<0.05), whereas changes in left/right bending did not reach statistical significance. Conclusion: This study indicates that craniocervical exercise may be effective in the management of tension-type headache.

In Korea, there is no clear regulation about right of way (ROW) for personal mobility device (PMD). So it is now illegal to use PMD in a space other than roadway. PMD has an advantage of being able to travel a long distance to move on foot with a relatively high speed, so it seems to spread widely in the near future. In this study, we'd like to establish the permission criteria for PMD in sidewalk, with the performance factors of the PMD. We review the cases of ROW of PMD in some foreign countries, and the performance standards for similar products that are currently allowed to use in the sidewalk or used in the sidewalk. Based on the maintenance standards for the sidewalk, we establish criteria to select the PMD moving means that can be used in sidewalk.
The purpose of this study was primarily to determine the relationship between temporomandibular joint mobility and generalized benign joint hypermobility. The subjects were 85 men and 76 women, who were students of dental and dental hygiene schools, aged 18 to 30 years old. They had no disturbances or complaints of movement of temporomandibular joints and other joints in the body. The joint mobility was measured by a test which is a modification of a method developed originally by Carter and Wilkinson (1964). The mandibular mobility was measured during active and passive maximal opening, laterotrusion, protrusion, and retrusion by Ingervall's method (1970). The obtained results were as follows: 1. The distribution of joint hypermobility disclosed was 4.8% in men and 19.7% in women, and 11.8% of total subjects. 2. The joint mobility index was a mean of 0.37 for men and 0.51 for women in total subjects, and 0.80 for men and 0.73 for women in hypermobile subjects. 3. The angle of passive dorsiflexion of the little finger was greater in the left than in the right hand for both sexes and in hypermobile subjects than in total subjects. 4. There was a positive correlation between the joint mobility index and the angle of passive dorsiflexion of the little finger in total subjects. 5. The joint mobility was greater in women than in men, and in the left than in the right hand. 6. In the active maximal mandibular movements of total subjects, the mean values for the opening capacity was 56.01 mm and 52.04mm, the laterotrusion mean 8.07 and 8.08, the protrusion mean 8.72 and 8.24, and the retrusion mean 0.48 and 0.49 for men and women respectively. 7. In the passive maximal mandibular movements of total subjects, the mean values for the opening capacity was 59.07mm and 54.85mm, the laterotrusion mean 8.90 and 9.12, the protrusion mean 10.03 and 10.00, and the retrusion mean 0.69 and 0.72 in men and women respectively. The active and passive maximal opening capacity was larger in men than in women but in the other movements there were no significant differences between men and women. 8. The range of active and passive maximal mandibular movements of hypermobile subjects tended to be larger in men but no significant difference in women compared with that of total subjects. 9. The range of maximal mandibular movements was increased more in passive than in active.
Each year research institutions such as the Korea Employment Information Service(KEIS), a government institution established for the advancement of employment support services, and Job Korea, a popular Korean job website, announce first job waiting times after college graduation. This provides useful information understand and resolve youth unemployment problems. However, previous reports deal with the time as a completely observed one and are not appropriate. This paper proposes a new study on first job waiting times after college graduation set to 4 months prior to graduation. In Korea, most college students hunt for jobs before college graduation in addition, the full-fledged job markets also open before graduation. In this case the exact waiting time of college graduates can be right-censored. We apply a Cox proportional hazards model to evaluate the associations between first job waiting times and risk factors. A real example is based on the 2008 Graduates Occupational Mobility Survey(GOMS).

PURPOSE: The respiratory function and range of joint mobility deteriorate due to aging, respectively, and the respiratory function may be related to the range of joint mobility. To the best of the authors' knowledge, there has been little research on how the deterioration of the range of joint mobility caused by aging is related directly to the respiratory function. This study investigated the relationship between the respiratory function and the range of joint motion in the cervical and lumbar regions of older adults. METHODS: Thirty-two older adults participated in the study. The forced vital capacity (peak expiratory flow: PEF and forced expiratory volume in 1 second: FEV1) and the range of cervical joint motion were assessed in all subjects. The results were analyzed using the Pearson's correlation coefficient. RESULTS: The respiratory function moderately correlated with age. A moderate correlation was observed between FEV1 and right cervical lateral flexion. PEF was moderately correlated with the lumbar lateral flexion. In addition, FEV1 correlated strongly with lumbar lateral flexion. CONCLUSION: The respiratory function was correlated with the cervical and lumbar lateral flexion. Therefore, rehabilitation of the respiratory function should involve improving the limited range of motion of the joints, and a stretching program is needed for older adults.
Background: Active trigger points (TrPs) of the suboccipital muscles greatly contribute to the occurrence of chronic tension-type headache, with increased sensitivity of TrPs and facilitated referred pain. Objects: This study aimed to investigate whether the integration of high-frequency diathermy into suboccipital release is more beneficial than the use of suboccipital release alone. Methods: Thirty subjects were assigned to either experimental group-1 (EG-1) to undergo suboccipital release combined with high-frequency diathermy (frequency: 0.3 MHz, and electrode type: resistive electronic transfer), or EG-2 to undergo suboccipital release alone, or the control group (CG) with no intervention, with 10 subjects in each group. The assessment tools included the headache impact test 6 (HIT-6), perceived level of tenderness, neck disability index, and neck mobility. Intervention was performed for 10 minutes, twice per week, for 4 weeks, and measurements were performed before and after the interventions. Results: The between-group comparison of the post-test values and changes between pretest and post-test showed significant differences for all parameters at p<.05, except for the left-to-right lateral bending range. In the post hoc test, EG-1 showed significant differences for the parameters in comparison with the CG, while no significant differences in the perceived tenderness level, on both temporal regions, were found between EG-2 and CG. Furthermore, the HIT-6 score and perceived tenderness level, in the right temporal region, showed significant differences between EG-1 and EG-2. In the within-group comparison, EG-1 and EG-2 appeared to be significantly different between pretest and post-test (p<.05), except for the perceived tenderness level in the right temporal region, with significance for the EG-1 group only (p<.05). Conclusion: These findings suggest that the suboccipital release technique may be advantageous to improve headache, tenderness, and neck function and mobility, with more favorable effects with the incorporation of high-frequency diathermy.
Objectives The purpose of this study is to know the effect of acupuncture on brachial plexus palsy due to birth injury. Methods We decided to treat one week of Vojta therapy and occupational therapy, but other were combined, and then add three weeks of acupuncture treatment as well. Results Right clavicle fracture at birth brachial plexus injury due to decreased locomotion of the right upper extremity, muscle weakness in children aged 7 months to Vojta therapy, occupational therapy and acupuncture, when performed in conjunction mobility increase of the shoulder joint, elbow support improvement, recovery of motor function of the hand grip, etc. to obtain a significant motor function recovery improvement. Conclusion Acupuncture was a good treatment of choice for the better shoulder, joint and hands movements.
The purpose of this study was to delve into what type of expression mode of fashion design could suit the life style of digital nomads, as the appearance of nomadic life style was concurrent with people's modified way of thinking and sociocultural changes in today's digital society. It's basically meant to define the roles of fashion design, which was discussed as a way of improving the quality of life as a sort of 'culture,' and to suggest some of the right directions for fashion design in the future. The culture of today's digital era is marked by a pursuit of high mobility and high speed, and by nomadic disposition that is built on flexible thinking. The kind of design that lets people carry nomadic things with them and thereby improve their mobility can satisfy their needs for mobility, and body-friendly design that functions as a device of information in itself can meet their needs for mobility as well. The leading example of the latter is a wearable computer, and wearable scientific technology will be taken to another level, thanks to the advance in digital technology. In the future, that will be more accessible to people in general, and subminiature digital equipment will gain popularity in fashion industry as part of textiles and clothing or as an accessory. And specific kinds of design will be widespread, including variable design, multi-functional design and modular design. The first serves as a tool to protect the human body and to facilitate the adaptability of it to the given circumstances, and the second is characterized by a superb physical and psychological protectability. The third lets wearers bring design to completion at their own option, owing to an increase in the number of open-minded people and the development of interactive media. All these types of design could be called a wearer-friendly, human-oriented design that is specifically appropriate for the digital age. Wearers can actively be involved in design process as productive consumers, which is expected to help increase opener practices in fashion design sector.
The shoulder joint permit ate greatest mobility of any joint area carries out the importment function of stabilization for hand use. So handgrip activity is important to evaluate while assessing shoulder load in manual work. There was an association between static handgrip and shoulder muscle activity. The purpose of this study was to find out the changes of the hand grip strength according to shouter an81e. One hundred (50 female, 50 male) college adult volunteers with no known shoulder dysfunction participated subject in three positions with elbow extension: (1) shoulder $0^{\circ}$ flexion (2) shoulder $90^{\circ}C$ flexion (3)shoulder $180^{\circ}C$ flexion. The paired t-test was used to determine the different in grip strength between right and left hand at shouter position change. All, there was significiant for all three position by right and left shoulder (p<0.001). In mon, the ANOVA results revealed not a significiant F-ratio fer all three position by right and left hand. In woman, revealed significiant (p<0.05).
