종횡비가 큰 이차유로에서 냉각성능 향상을 위한 요철배열 연구 (Numerical Study of the Rib Arrangements for Enhancing Heat Transfer in a Two-pass Channel of Large Aspect Ratio)

  • 터빈 블레이드의 내부냉각 설계 강화를 위해 설치된 경사요철과 가이드 베인에 대한 연구를 진행하였다. 채널의 입구로 들어오는 공기와 요철이 만나는 각도를 기준으로, 서로 상반된 두 가지 요철배열을 전연면과 후연면에 평행하게 배치하였다. 채널의 종횡비(AR)는 5:1이고, 요철의 각도는 $60^{\circ}$, 요철의 높이와 요철간 간격 비($e/D_h$)는 0.075이다. 레이놀즈 수는 10,000으로 고정하였다. 요철배열에 따른 2차 유동과 딘 와류의 상호작용이 곡관부와 전체 채널의 열전달 결과와 유동특성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 확인할 수 있었다. 결론적으로 첫 번째 유로의 요철배열이 팁 면의 열전달 분포에 지배적인 요인이며, 곡관부에서 유동의 분포에도 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 U자 형상 가이드 베인을 사용하였을 때 모든 요철에서 팁 면의 열전달 값이 상승하였으며, 특히 공기와 요철의 충돌각도가 양의각도일 때 가장 높은 냉각성능계수를 보였다.

  • 양 벽면이 수축되는 채널에서 ${\vee}/{\wedge}$형 리브의 각도가 열전달에 미치는 효과를 실험적으로 조사하였다. 한 벽면에만 설치된 ${\vee}/{\wedge}$형 리브의 충돌 각은 각각 $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ 그리고 $90^{\circ}$이다. 리브의 높이(e)는 10 mm 그리고 리브 간격(p)과 높이(e)비는 10으로 제작하였다. 길이가 1,000 mm인 시험 부는 입구의 단면적은 $100mm{\times}100mm$, 출구는 $50mm{\times}100mm$으로 제작하였다. 레이놀즈수가 22,000에서 75,000까지의 범위에서 실험을 수행하였다. 연구결과 전체적으로 레이놀즈 수가 높을수록 누셀트 수가 컸고, ${\wedge}$$45^{\circ}$ 리브가 가장 누셀트 수가 컸다.

  • This work presents a numerical procedure to optimize the shape of three-dimensional channel with angled ribs mounted on one of the walls to enhance turbulent heat transfer. The response surface method is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of flow and heat transfer. SST turbulence model is used as a turbulence closure. The width-to-height ratio of the rib, rib height-to-channel height ratio, pitch-to-rib height ratio and attack angle of the rib are chosen as design variables. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat-transfer and friction-loss related terms with weighting factor. D-optimal experimental design method is used to determine the data points. Optimum shapes of the channel have been obtained for the weighting factors in the range from 0.0 to 1.0.

한면에 리브가 설치된 4면 수축 사각채널에서 리브의 각도가 열전달에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Rib Angles on Heat Transfer in a Square Convergent Channel with Ribs on One Wall)

  • The local heat transfer and pressure drops of developed turbulent flows in the convergent channels with square cross-sectional areas along the streamwise distance have been investigated experimentally. Four different parallel angled ribs (a = $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$, and $90^{\circ}$) are placed to the one sided wall only, respectively. The ribbed walls are manufactured with a fixed rib height (e)=10 mm and the ratio of rib spacing (p) to height (e) = 10. The measurement was run within the range of Reynolds numbers from 22,000 to 79,000. The result shows that the increases in the Nusselt numbers for the flow attack angles can be seen in the order of $30^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$.

  • The present study investigates the convective heat/mass transfer characteristics and pressure drop inside the rib-roughened cooling passage of gas turbine blades. The internal cooling passage is simulated using a square duct with h- and V-shaped rectangular ribs which have a 60。attack angle. A naphthalene sublimation technique is employed to determine the detailed local heat/mass transfer coefficients using the heat and mass transfer analogy. The ribs disturb the main flow resulting in the recirculation and secondary flows near the ribbed wail. The secondary flow patterns and the local heat transfer in the duct are changed significantly according to the rib orientation. A square duct with ∧ - and V-shaped ribs have two pairs of secondary flow due to the rib arrangement. Therefore, the average heat/mass transfer coefficients and pressure drop of ∧ - and V-shaped ribs are higher than those of the continuous ribs with 90$^{\circ}$ and 60$^{\circ}$attack angles. The ∧-shaped ribs have higher heat/mass transfer coefficients than the V-shaped ribs, and the uniformity of heat/mass transfer coefficient are increased with the discrete ribs due to the flow leakage and acceleration near the surface.

The local heat transfer and the secondary flow in the duct are changed largely according to the rib orientation. A square duct with $\wedge$ and V-shape ribs has two pairs of secondary flow because of the rib arrangement. So, the duct has complex heat/mass transfer distribution. The average heat/mass transfer coefficient and pressure drop of $\wedge-$ and V-shape ribs are higher than those with $90^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$ attack angles. The average heat/mass transfer coefficient on the $\wedge-shape$ ribs is higher than that on the V-shape ribs. Also, the uniformity of heat/mass transfer coefficient on discrete ribs is higher than that on continuous rib.

  • This study conducts shape optimization of rib turbulator on the internal cooling passage that has triangular cross-section of high pressure turbine nozzle. During optimization, various types of rib turbulator including angled, V-shaped, A-shaped and angled rib with intersecting rib are considered. Each type of rib turbulator is parameterized with attack angle(s), rib height, spacing ratio and bending/intersecting location. For optimization, Design of Experiment (DOE) and Kriging surrogate model are used to utilize computational resource more efficiently and Genetic Algorithm (GA) is used to search the optimum points. As a result, Pareto front of each type of rib turbulator with friction factor that relates to pressure drop in cooling passage and spatially averaged Nusselt number that relates to heat transfer on the wall is drawn and optimum points on the Pareto front are suggested.

  • A numerical optimization has been carried out to determine the shape of the three-dimensional channel with oblique ribs attached on both walls to enhance turbulent heat transfer. The response surface based optimization is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer. Shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model is used as a turbulence closure. Numerical results fur heat transfer rate show good agreements with experimental data. four dimensionless variables such as, rib pitch-to-rib height ratio, rib height-to-channel height ratio, streamwise rib distance on opposite wall to rib pitch ratio, and the attack angle of the rib are chosen as design variables. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat-transfer and friction-loss related coefficients with a weighting factor. D-optimal method is used to determine the training points as a means of design of experiment. Sensitivity of the objective parameters to each design variable has been analyzed. And, optimal values of the design variables have been obtained in a range of the weighting factor.

  • The purpose of this work is to Investigate the pressure drop and the heat transfer characteristics in the channel of plate heat exchanger with crossed-discrete ribs. The flow is assumed to be three-dimensional, laminar and periodically fully developed. Computations have been carried out for angles of attack from $0^{\circ}$ to $90^{\circ}$ and ratios of rib height from 0.15 to 0.46 for various values of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. The heat transfer was improved by inclined ribs generating helical vortices and secondary flows. The results show that the pressure drop has a maximum value at $70^{\circ}$ and the heat transfer has a maximum value at $45^{\circ}$. As the rib height increases, the pressure drop and the heat transfer increase quadratically, and the increasing rate of pressure drop is higher than that of the heat transfer. As Reynolds number increases, the pressure drop increases in proportion to the square of Reynolds number and the heat transfer increases linearly.

  • The present study investigates the pressure drop characteristics in rotating two-pass ducts. The duct has an aspect ratio (W/H) of 0.5 and a hydraulic diameter $(D_h)$ of 26.67mm. Rib turbulators are attached crossly in the four different arrangements on the leading and trailing surfaces of the test ducts. The ribs have a rectangular cross section of $2mm(e){\times}3mm(w)$ and an attack angle of $70^{\circ}C$. The pitch-to-rib height ratio (pie) is 7.5, and the rib height-to-hydraulic diameter ratio $(e/D_h)$ is 0.075. The results show that the highest pressure drop among each region appears in the turning region for the stationary case, but appears in the upstream region of the second pass for the rotating case. Effects of cross rib arrangements are almost the same in the first pass for the stationary and rotating cases. In the second pass, however, heat transfer and pressure drop are high for the cases with cross NN or PP type ribs in the stationary ducts. In the rotating ducts, they are high for the cases with cross NP or PP type ribs.
