Two new chemosensors, rhodamine 6G derivative bearing hydroxyethyl group (1) and rhodamine base derivative bearing 15-crown-5 group (2) were synthesized and their sensing behaviors toward various metal ions were investigated by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. Addition of $Hg^{2+}$ ion to a $CH_3CN$ solution of 1 and 2 gave visual color changes as well as fluorescent OFF-ON observations. Selectivity and sensitivity of 1 towards $Hg^{2+}$ are excellent enough to detect micromolar level of $Hg^{2+}$ ion, even in equeous media and biological sample (HeLa cell).
Basic dyes, Rhodamine 6G(R6G), Rhodamine B(RB), and Methylene Blue(MB), dissolved in water were used to investigate single-component adsorption affinity to the pearl layer fractionated according to the size. Unfractionated pearl layers were also used as adsorbents for the R6G and RB. The Langmuir and the Redlich-Peterson(RP) models were used to fit the adsorption data, and the goodness of fit was examined by using determination coefficient($R^2$) and standard deviation(SSE). The 3-parameter RP model was found to be better in describing the dye adsorption data than the 2 parameter Langmuir model, as can be expected from the number of parameters involved in the model. The adsorption affinity to the fractionated pearl layer was higher than that to the unfractionated layer The affinity order to the fractionated Conchiolin layer was found to be R6G > MB > RB. Furthermore, the dye adsorption capacity of the various types of pearl layer was found to be in the order, the fractionated pearl > powdered pearl > unfractionated pearl, exhibiting different adsorption isotherms according to the types of layer used in the study.
We have investigated the output characteristics and optimal conditions of a multi-stage amplifier system of Rhodamine 6G dye laser. The parameters in this simulation work were the beam diameter of the dye laser oscillator, the size of dye cell, the dye concentration, the number of stages in the amplifier system, and the pumping energy ratio of each amplifier at given pump energy. As a result, the output energy 10 mJ and the conversion efficiency of 40% in the two stage amplifier system were obtained with the pumping energy of 25mJ and the oscillator energy of 0.01 mJ.
In order to obtain a transparent and dimer-free Ormosil embedded with orgainc dye variations of gel struc-ture and optical properties were studied as a functiion of the change of gel composition. The Ormosils which have good optical property were produced in the 90/10 ratio of TEOS/PDMS and the structural variations of the gel were achived by the change of ratio of HCl/TEOS. As the ratio of HCl/TEOS was increased pore size of the Ormosil enlarged and porosity increased. Increasing HCl concentration led to gradually lower trans-mittance values. In the xerogel doped with the organic dye Rhodamine 6G perchlorate a dimer peak near 500nm was observed with the increase of the ratio of HCl/TEOS

The detection of blood at a crime scene is an important process for identification and case reconstruction. However, blood may be difficult to observe with the naked eye on dark or multi-colored surfaces. Acidic hydrogen peroxide (AHP) is a recently reported blood enhancement reagent that can enhance blood with high sensitivity by increasing the exposure time of the camera. However, it has never been compared to previously known techniques on dark or multi-colored surfaces. For this purpose, the method of observation/photographing (UV and IR photography), alginate casting, leuco rhodamine 6G (LR6G), and AHP were applied to bloody impression on dark or multi-colored surfaces and the results were compared. As a result, blood treated with AHP had a higher contrast to the surfaces than UV and IR photography, and it was applicable on all surfaces, opposed to alginate casting. In addition, AHP successfully enhanced blood on dark or multi-colored surfaces, similar to LR6G.
Quenched dye laser (QDL), which operates with relaxation oscillation mode, is one of the most powerful source for ultra-short pulse light. In this paper, the output characteristics of QDL is theoretically analyzed by a computer simulation. The QDL is assumed that the laser dye is Rhodamine 6G which has the oscillation wavelength of 590 nrn and that the active length is 5 mm and that the pumping source is XeCllaser which has oscillation wavelength of 308 nm. It is revealed ilim the pulse width of short cavity dye laser reduced less than 1/100 than pumping pulse duration and has the linear relationship with spatial width of pumping beam approximately. In addition, it is revealed that the short cavity dye laser is a powerful candidate of pulse width variable light source, which is adjusted by spatial size of pumping beam_ beam_

Through sol-gel process, inorganic/organic composite as a dye host was made. It was observed that this composite has about 90% of trnasmittance by UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The transmittance is the most important requirement to decide whether the composite could apply or not as the dye host. The transmittance was increased with decreasing HCl as a catalyst, aging time, and amount of PDMS. Also, fluorescent and transmittant charateristics of Rhodamine 6G Perchlorate that was doped into ORMOSIL were measured. The fluorescent intensity was increased and the trnasmittance was decreased with rising gelling temperature.
CdS nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized in an aqueous phase in order to investigate their spectral behaviors as efficient fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) donors for various organic dye acceptors. Our prepared CdS NPs exhibiting strong and broad emission spectra between 480-520 nm were able to transfer energy in a wide wavelength region from green to red fluorescence dyes. Rhodamine 6G (Rh6G), rhodamine B (RhB), and sulforhodamine 101 acid (Texas red) were tested as acceptors of the energy transfer from the CdS NPs. The three dyes and synthesized CdS NPs exhibited good FRET behaviors as acceptors and donors, respectively. Energy transfers from the CdS NPs and organic Cy3 dye were compared to the same acceptor Texas red dye at different concentrations. Our prepared CdS NPs appeared to exhibit better FRET behaviors comparable to those of the Cy3 dye. These CdS NPs in an aqueous solution may be efficient FRET donors for various organic dyes in a wide wavelength range between green and red colors.
It is generally known to be difficult to etch a surface of a transparent material such as fused silica by conventional laser ablation in which the surface is simply irradiated with a laser beam. A lot of studies have been done to provide a method capable of efficiently etching transparent materials without defects such as cracks. One of the promising methods or the micro-machining of optically transparent materials is laser induced etching. In this study, micro-drilling of fused silica by laser induced wet etching was conducted. KrF excimer and YAG laser were used as light sources. Acetone solution pyrene and ethanol solution of rhodamine were used as etchant.
In this research, we synthesized Au/TiO2/graphene composites using ionic surfactants for the exfoliation of graphite layers, directly. In the graphene composite, TiO2 with thin nanosheet shapes was distributed on the graphene surface and Au nanoparticles with less than 10 nm sizes were evenly distributed on the surface of the TiO2 nanosheets. The Au/TiO2/graphene composite was then applied to the photodegradation of various dyes such as methylene blue, methylene orange and rhodamine 6G, and B. Among them, the methylene blue showed the most excellent photodegradation activity (91.6%) while the rhodamine B exhibited 31.0%.
