The purpose of this study is to develop and apply a Design Thinking-based Maker education program utilizing Arduino for middle school students. The study progress was made in four stages of preparation, development, implementation and evaluation according to the PDIE model. In this study, experts were verified for validity and pre-applied to students to improve the maker education program developed based on literature review. Then, it was applied to middle school club classes to check the effects through analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. In addition, the development of the program was completed by supplementing the improvements found in the course. The results of this study are as follows. First, the topics of the maker education program that can be used in middle schools were selected in consideration of the analysis of the 2015 revised curriculum, methods to using the Arduino, and social interest. Second, the program developed based on the selected topic consists of 4 classes of maker basic learning and 16 classes of design thinking-based maker activities. Third, the developed maker education program had a significant effect in improving STEAM literacy of middle school students, but did not have any significant effect in the interest in technology and orientation towards an engineering career. Fourth, learners were interested in the activities of designing and freely making by themselves, and they positively evaluated the experience of realizing the physical computing with Arduino. In addition, they practiced the spirit of a maker, such as autonomously collecting data and sharing them with colleagues, etc. while acting as a maker.

The purpose of this study is to develop a STEAM program for teaching climate change through CLAMP (Climate-Leaf Analysis Multivariate Program) paleoclimate inquiry in connection with high school 'Integrated Science' subject. In order to do so, we analyzed the 2015 revised national curriculum and science textbook in terms of the PDIE instructional design model, and developed the teaching-learning materials for 10 class hours through expert panel discussion and pilot test. According to the STEAM class procedure, in the situation presentation stage, the fossil leaves were collected from the dicotyledon plants near school, and the LMA (Leaf Margin Analysis) climate inquiry activity. was presented as the learning goal. During the creative design stage, students were taught about geology and leaf fossils in the study region, and CLAMP input data (31 characteristics of morphotype and leaf architectural of fossil leaves) were given. In the emotional experience and new challenge stage, we collected leaf fossils for outdoor learning, explored paleoclimate with CLAMP method, and promoted climatic literacy in the process of discussing tendencies and causes of Cenozoic's climate change. The validity of the development program was assessed (CVI .84) as being suitable for development purpose in all items through the process of establishing reliability among expert panel. In order to apply the program to the high school, a pilot test was conducted to supplement the discrepancies and to review the suitability. The satisfaction rate of the participants was 4.48, and the program was complemented with their opinions. This study will enable high school students to have practical knowledge and reacting volition for climate change, and contribute to fostering students' climate literacy.
The purpose of this study is to develop an astronomical observing education program that enables high school students to inquire the distance of astronomical bodies based on the research methods (observing open clusters and exploring collected big data) using small telescopes and DSLR cameras. After analyzing the 2015 revised science curriculum, we developed science club activity materials and teacher-student learning contents suitable for high school earth science education. A panel of six teachers and researchers of earth science education and astronomy, participated in developing the educational materials. The validity of the program was verified through establishing the agreement among the panels after in-depth discussions and clarifications. The program, developed with 10 lessons in total, showed high satisfactory content validity (CVI, .89) and conformity of school class (Likert's 5 point scales, 4.17). The feedback of the panels and the Delphi analysis continued to improve the quality of the program. The pilot testing result with high school students (N=9) showed that the students' satisfaction rate was high as 4.48. Using the astronomical observational education program of this study is expected to contribute in improving the convergence educational activity, interest, curiosity, and inquiry ability of students in the universe and the astronomical bodies.

This study purposes to figure out the effects of applying discussion-based science class on concept of science achievement and science teaching efficacy. This study established an twelve-week period of experimental treatment from April to June 2019, and the students who participated in this study formed a research group consisting of 27 students in the first semester of the second year of the B University of Education. and taking courses in 'elementary Science Textbook Research 1' For the classes applying discussion-based science class, the analysis was made on 2015 revised curriculum, and 12th process-centered performance assessment based on discussion. The developed data had designed to develop concept of science achievement and science teaching efficacy. The study group applied process-centered performance assessment based on discussion science class, so unaffectedly study group could improve their concept of science achievement and science teaching efficacy. B University of education is singleness class that doesn't have compare group, so this study is constituted only study group. Applying based-discussion science class to study group, before and after concept of science concept test, science teaching efficacy test is performed. The results of the study were as follows. First, the study group applied discussion-based science class had statistically significant differences in concept of science achievement (p<.05). Second, the study group applied discussion-based science class had statistically significant differences in science teaching efficacy(p<.05). Third, after discussion-based science class of pre-service teachers have a very good feeling. Through such study results, the study could figure out that the class applying discussion-based science class has positive effect on concept of science achievement and science teaching efficacy.

In this paper, the effect of artificial intelligence convergence education program that provides STEAM education using machine learning platform on elementary school students' STEAM literacy and learning flow was analyzed. A homogeneous group of 44 elementary school 6th graders was divided into an experimental group and a control group. The control group received 10 lessons of general subject convergence class, and the experimental group received 10 lessons of STEAM-based artificial intelligence convergence education using Machine learning for Kids. To develop the artificial intelligence convergence education program, the goals, achievement standards, and content elements of the 2015 revised curriculum to select subjects and class contents is analyzed. As a result of the STEAM literacy test and the learning flow test, there was a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group. In particular, it can be confirmed that the coding environment in which the artificial intelligence function is expanded has a positive effect on learners' learning flow and STEAM literacy. Among the sub-elements of convergence talent literacy, significant differences were found in the areas of personal competence such as convergence and creativity. Among the sub-elements of learning flow, significant differences were found in the areas such as harmony of challenge and ability, clear goals, focus on tasks, and self-purposed experiences. If further expanded research is conducted in the future, it will be a basic research for more effective education for the future.

This study explored the concept of artificial intelligence and the problem-solving process that can be explained through literature research. Through this study, the educational meaning and application plan of artificial intelligence that can be explained were presented. XAI education is a human-centered artificial intelligence education that deals with human-related artificial intelligence problems, and students can cultivate problem-solving skills. In addition, through algorithmic education, it is possible to understand the principles of artificial intelligence, explain artificial intelligence models related to real-life problem situations, and expand to the field of application of artificial intelligence. In order for such XAI education to be applied in elementary schools, examples related to real world must be used, and it is recommended to utilize those that the algorithm itself has interpretability. In addition, various teaching and learning methods and tools should be used for understanding to move toward explanation. Ahead of the introduction of artificial intelligence in the revised curriculum in 2022, we hope that this study will be meaningfully used as the basis for actual classes.
This study aims to find meaningful implications for the development of Korean elementary school math education courses and textbooks by comparing and analyzing the number and arithmetic areas of Korean and Canadian math textbooks in fifth and sixth grades. To this end, the textbook composition system of Korean and Canadian elementary schools was compared and analyzed, and the number and timing of introduction of math textbooks and math textbooks by grade, and the number in fifth and sixth grade and the learning contents of math textbooks were compared and analyzed. The following conclusions were obtained from this study: First, it is necessary to organize a textbook that can solve the problem in an integrated way by introducing the learned mathematical concepts and computations naturally in the context of problems closely related to real life, regardless of the type of private calculation or mathematics area. Second, it is necessary to organize questions using materials such as real photography and mathematics, science, technology, engineering, art, etc. and to organize textbooks that make people feel the necessity and usefulness of mathematics. Third, sufficient learning of the principles of mathematics through the use of various actual teaching aids and mathematical models, and the construction of textbooks focusing on problem-solving strategies using engineering tools are needed. Fourth, in-depth discussions are needed on the timing of learning guidance for fractions and minority learning or how to organize and develop learning content.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the questions generated by elementary school pre-service teachers when reading the teacher's guide for the refraction of light, and to analyze the difficulties in understanding the concept and in making instructional plans. A total of 592 meaningful questions were generated by 283 elementary school pre-service teachers after reading the teacher's guide of 'light and lens' unit in the 6th grade of the 2015 revised curriculum. Of these, 306 questions are for understanding the concept of physics and 286 are pedagogical questions. As a result of the analysis, in terms of understanding the concept of physics, the elementary school pre-service teachers encounter difficulties in understanding the concept of the 'cause' of the phenomenon suggested in the textbook, such as the cause of refraction, the reason for scattering light, and the cause of the image change depending on the focal length of the convex lens. In terms of instructional planning, it was followed by questions about how to explain concepts, questions about not being able to explain concepts to elementary school students and having to teach only phenomena, specific explanation methods for specific concepts, and experimental methods. Although the teacher's guide contains various explanations and supplementary materials to help teachers understand the concept, it can be seen that there are many elementary pre-service teachers who cannot answer questions about some concepts even after reading the guide. For concepts with a high frequency of questions, it is necessary to prepare a tutorial that is more understandable. In the instructional plan, there were many questions about teaching methods and experimental methods, so it is necessary to provide more examples and specific experimental methods for explaining concepts in the teacher's guide.
The purpose of the study was to investigate mothers' beliefs and executions in the social relations area of the 2019 revised Nuri curriculum, and to investigate the effects of beliefs and executions on the emotional intelligence and prosocial behavior of young children. For this purpose, data were collected by distributing questionnaire packets to 268 mothers of children aged 3-5 years who were enrolled in 7 early childhood education institutions in Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. As a result of the study, first, there was a statistically significant difference in the overall belief according to the mother's personal characteristic, the educational level, and a significant difference in the sub-factor, living together, in the execution. Second, it was found that there was a significant positive correlation between all variables except for the relationship between social relation execution and the ability to regulate others, which is a sub-factor of emotional intelligence. Third, beliefs and executions in social relation were found to affect all emotional intelligence and pro-social behavior, except for the effect of social relation execution on the ability to regulate others. This study is expected to provide basic data to improve parents' interest in the improvement of young children's social ability and practical interaction in child rearing.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the chemisry education contents of South Korea and North Korea for understanding chemistry education of North Korea. Chemistry education in South and North Korea was investigated in terms of learning period and learning quantaty. Especially, what content North Korea learned prior to South Korea and what contents learned more were analyzed. The subjects of this study were South Korean 2015 revised National Science Curriculum and North Korean science textbooks in Kim Jong-un era. The North Korean textbooks analyzed are 'Nature' for North Korean elementary school 3, 'Natural Science' for North Korean middle school 1 and 2, and 'Chemistry' for North Korean high school 1 and 2. The analysis results are as follows. First, the content elements to be learned in advance in North Korean textbooks were density, oxidation and reduction, battery, and atomic weight. Second, the content elements additionally learned in North Korean textbooks include separation of mixtures, fuels, oxidation and reduction, metals, organic and inorganic substances, metals and non-metal oxides and hydroxides, inorganic substances used as fertilizers, nutritional substances, and salt reaction and utilization, atomic orbitals, hybridization of orbitals, coordination bonds and complexes. As a future research task, a qualitative analysis of the elements of North Korean chemistry, the activities of textbooks, and an experimental analysis were proposed.
