Since 2000, people who lived in the city begin to see returning to farming in a new perspective. People returning to the farming became a trend and therefore, the number of people who are returning to farm are increasing. Because of the concept of take up farming is developing as an idea of establishing a new business, the government agency and the government-related organization are very supportive as the government is interested in the business. The conclusion is below regarding the analysis result In order to receive the analysis of actual proof, we conducted a survey targeting 300 people who returned to farming village in the whole country, excluding Jeju Island from Aug 1st 2013 to Aug 30th 2013. Except uncandidness answers, we used 252 survey results of our sample. Also we used SPSS Wim Ver. 18.0 to draw a conclusion regarding the collected sample. First, regarding of Hypothesis 1 "Personal characteristic will give positive effects in returning to farming village", was partially supportive Second, regarding of Hypothesis 2 "Reason of settling will give positive effects in returning to farming village", was partially supportive Third, regarding of Hypothesis 3 "Geographic characteristics will give positive effects in returning to farming village", was partially supportive Fourth, the effect of social support between the individual characteristic, reason of settling, and geographic characteristics, the result indicated that the social support was partially supportive in farm returners regarding reason of settlement. However, there were no social support effect in returning to farm satisfaction regarding of geographic characteristic. Fifth, after analysing the difference of personal characteristic regarding demographic characteristic, reason of settlement, and geographic characteristic, the result indicated that people who are age 40+, who graduated graduate school lived in metropolitan city, settling to Jeollabuk-do felt higher satisfaction of returning to village than people who are in their 30s, graduated university, lived in city/district, and now settling to Kyung-book and Choong-nam.

As the aging population of Korean agriculture and rural areas and the decline of the agricultural population are gradually deepening, the influx of population through returning to farming and rural areas is urgently needed. To this end, the most important problems to be solved were the lack of information that would help those who want to return to farming or rural areas when making decisions. Therefore, a survey was conducted for AHP analysis on related experts to find out the information (decision factors) required when selecting a return-to-farm or return-to-country migration area through this study. The AHP analysis showed that "Economic factors" were the most important among the three items in the primary class, while "Housing and land prices", "Metropolitan accessibility and traffic" and "Residential information" were the most important in the secondary class. The results of these studies are reflected in the information system to systematically support the decision-making of those who wish to return to farming or rural areas. It is hoped that it will be indirectly helpful and ultimately contribute to the revitalization and development of Korean agriculture and rural areas, which are aging.

Through this study, the policy proposals were intended to be presented to the head of the farming policy. Therefore, the meaning of this study is as follows. First, rather than judging the returning farmer on his own, he should provide sufficient information to consult with his family and increase access to agriculture. Second, by opening up SNS and YouTube to returning farmers, they should instill confidence in rural areas by providing them with information about the joy of rural life and the success of farming so that they can easily access information about rural life through villages, youth associations and women's associations. Efforts should be made to create vibrant rural areas by providing infrastructure around farmland, providing various amenities for settling young people and forming a family farmers' association. Third, the head of the return farming policy should come up with customized support policies for the return farming (e.g., one-year farm support, free farm support, institutional sales guarantee, tourism in advanced countries, modernization of farmland facilities). Public relations strategies should also be strengthened so that such policies can lead to agriculture. Finally, the government should provide subsidized economic activities (e.g. Airbnb, donation of expertise and work-related personnel before returning home, rural experience, etc.).

This study aims to identify the decision-making factors of people who have returned to rural areas for farming and residence according to personal characteristics and regions. The survey was conducted on 420 return farmers of six cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-Do from September 1st to October 11th 2013. For data analysis, researchers used 280 answered sheets and utilized two-way ANOVA and multinomial logistic regression analysis. Research results indicate three factors of returning to farm which are pull to rural area, push from city, and policy factor. The highest scores of factor is pull to rural area (2.93), the second one is push from city (2.31), and the lowest score is politic factor (2.18). In addition, these three factors of returning to farm are elucidated by environmental variable, economic variable, and information and opportunity provided by government. In other words, the factor of pull to rural area is related environmental variable and the factor of push from city is affected by economic variable. Lastly, politic factor pertains to information and opportunity provided by government.
The aging of farm households has caused serious problems such as productivity slowdown and aggravated income polarization in South Korea. Urban-to-rural migration has been recently suggested as a measure to attenuate the aging of rural population and other related problems. The inflow of migrants for farming can have a substantial effect on agriculture and rural communities while the natural adjustment of rural population caused by birth and death is slow. This paper forecasts population distribution of different provinces using the Origin-Destination (OD) analysis, taking into account both the size and directions of migration. In the analysis, nodes where the migration takes place are divided by the industrial sectors (agriculture and non-agriculture), regions, and ages. The results of a ten-year forecast shows that the aging of total population in most provinces will be intensified, but the portion of people over sixty will decrease in the agricultural sector. This finding implies that migration into rural areas, when occurring by a large extent, can mitigate the aging process and attendant problems.
This research tried to present some basic data necessary to give effective support to urban retirees who already returned to the farm by looking into factors effecting on their adjustments to the lives before they returned to the farm and after they did so to know how well they adapt to the rural lives. For the purpose, we made a survey of 408 returners to the farm over the age of 50 for 6 days from October 18 to October 23 in 2004 using questionaires. The results show the followings. First, there are significant difference in the satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the sociological demographic changes according to 'health condition', 'subjective economic ability' and 'previous job'. Second, the difference of satisfaction with the rural lift which was taken place by the reasons before they moved to the farm is effected considerably by what made them decide to return to the farm first whether they prepared for it or not and how much money they have to do so. Therefore, to succeed in adjustment to the rural lives, their decision should be made by positive causes, they have to prepare concretely for it before they carry out their plans and they had better have enough money to move. Third, the difference of satisfaction with the rural life occurred by the reasons after they moved to the farm is effected by 'satisfaction with the forming information', 'the number of friends or neighbors', 'the frequency of meeting the friendly', 'the level of intimacy with neighbors' and 'their efforts to improve the relations with other residents'. And the sensitiveness to perceive the inconvenience according to the rural life is related strongly to the satisfaction with the rural life in the above 6 areas. Fourth, the repression analysis implemented to find how much the above 3 factors effect on the satisfaction with the rural life shows that it is 'returner's current health condition', 'farming education', 'farming fund' and 'effort to be intimate with other residents' that are very important.
The purpose of this study was to examine the intention of consumer acceptance of technology in agricultural production by applying the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) to smart farm. In particular, this study analyzed the intention to accept the technology of agricultural students, farmers, start-up farmers, returning farmers, and returnees in the general manufacturing industry and high-tech industries, and in agricultural sectors corresponding to primary industries. The results showed that performance expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, IT development level, and reliability had a significant influence on the intention to use smart farm technology. However, effort expectancy and price value were rejected because no significant impact on use intention was tested. In addition, the influences of the variables showing their influence were reliability (β=.569) > IT development level (β=.252) > social influence (β=.235) > performance expectancy (β=.182) > facilitating conditions (β=.134).
The problems of agriculture and food production in Korea are serious. These problems were brought about by the global food system. In this system, farmers and consumers are disconnected. The distance between food production on the farm to the consumer's table is too long. Farmers can not survive as their food dollar is steadily decreasing. Consumers have to eat old, unclean, and poor-quality foods because the foods do not come from nearby farms. They do not know where their food has come from or by whom their food was grown. In order to solve these problems, the transition from the global food system to a local food system is imperative. In a local food system, farmers and consumers are connected and they can help each other. This study identifies the consumers' role in the local food system. They are the purchasers of local food. They are active participants both in producing and distributing local food, and in taking part in the local food movement. Above all, they are the teachers of the younger generation consumers. While consumers in the global food system are passive, those in the local food system are active. We call the former "food illiterates" and the latter "food citizens." In order to revitalize the local food system, consumers must be food citizens, and therefore, consumer education is necessary. There are several interdependent media forms available for consumer education such as field trips, farm experiences, education for returning to the farm, and food education.
Path planning for field operation of agricultural machinery is an indispensible part for precision farming or autonomous field operation. In this study, two algorithms (I, II) of generating a time-based shortest operation path were suggested to plan an optimal operation of an agricultural tractor-implement in a rectangular shaped field. The algorithms were based on modification of a minimum spanning tree algorithm, and applied for tractor-implement operations. the generated path was consisted of round operation and returning operation sections. The number of round operation was determined from the condition that a tractor can turn smoothly at headlands. The performance of the algorithms was evaluated by the calculation number for path generation and the total path length generated. Their stability was affected by the number of returning operation, but the algorithm II was considered to be more stable. In addition, the performances of the developed algorithms were compared with those of the conventional field operations at selected field sizes and shapes. The results showed that the algorithms could reduce field operation time greatly. For a 100m$\times$40m field, the reduced path length was 78m. The study also included an user interface program for implementing the algorithms and generating GPS coordinates that could be used in GIS softwares for precision farming.

In this paper, the purpose of this study is to melt the process of returning to farming through games and settle down in a stable manner to ensure that there are no more prospective young farmers who wish to return to farming but cannot proceed with their dreams due to various barriers of reality. The game was designed to develop in the order of fields, greenhouses, automation systems, and smart farms, and to grow the crops they want at the early level, and added a community system to highlight that rural areas are community life, not individualistic life. Support benefits or information provided by local governments or governments were inserted into the community system so that prospective farmers could naturally access the information.
