Convergence Effect of College Students Knowledge on the Elderly and Recognition of Retirement on the Preparation for Retirement (대학생의 노인에 대한 지식과 노후인식수준이 노후준비에 미치는 융합적 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to find out impact of level of awareness about old age, knowledge of the elderly and preparing for later life on college students in Korea. The study was composed of 133 students who were studying in 4-year system at colleges. Data were collected from October 1st to November 31st, 2019. Data analysis included an independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression using the SPSS 19.0 program. As a result of this study, factors influencing the subject's preparing for later life included knowledge of the elderly (β = 0.21, p = .012), men (β = 0.28, p = .001), and level of awareness about old age (β = 0.23, p =. 005), and the accounting power of these factors was 18% in total (F=9.14, p<.001). The results of this study suggest that understanding of the elderly must be improved in order to effectively prepare for later life and gender should be taken into account when planning for intervention.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the possibility of application of Continuing Care Retirement Community concepts for the development of elderly housing in Korea. The data was collected from 28 CCRC models in "Design", an Annual Publication of Nursing Homes Long Term Care Management, from 1999 to 2001. This paper comers the potential benefits of CCRC ; provide support services, prepare appropriate environment and promote social interactions. The further research about how to develop and manage CCRC will be necessary in the future.

Determinant of the Elderly Poverty Using Decision Tree Analysis (의사결정나무분석을 활용한 노인빈곤 결정요인 분석)

  • This study is to examine the determinants of the elderly poverty by using the Decision-tree analysis. In line with this perspective, this study includes individual characteristics, family characteristics, working characteristics, and periodic income characteristics after retirement as determinants for senior poverty. The study uses data from the Korean Retirement and Income Study based on panel survey and employs the Decision-tree analysis to explain the causes of the elderly poverty. As the result of analysis, earned wage has the greatest effect on the elderly poverty. Depending on status of the earned wage, there are 2 different variable groups. One with no earned wage includes public pension, education, and residence, paid employee and gender in the other with earned wage. Based on the analytical results, the study suggests measures to address the elderly poverty.

  • As the aging population geworsened by the a of the low fertility rate in the wake of the birth of the low birth rate, the rapid increase in the retirement age of the baby boomers in the wake of the birth of the Korean War is a significant indication of the separation of the aged and the role of the economically rich and the role of the role of the economically rich. Therefore, this study aims to address issues and countermeasures. The study aims to provide basic data for the future life of the baby boom generation by examining the problems and responses to the economic activity after the retirement activity of the baby boomers. The research suggests that the limit was limited to the retirement age of the baby boomer generation in order to boost the employment of the elderly. Due to the lack of exploration of the exploratory research, the lack of analysis of exploratory facts is the biggest limitation of the analysis. So, further analysis of this will lead to meaningful studies. Looking at the composition of this study, the introduction of the study included the necessity and purpose of the study. The focus on the point was on the concepts and characteristics of the baby boomer, and analyzed the characteristics of the economic activity and analyses and analyses of domestic and international cases. In conclusion, the issue was drawn up and the alternatives were sought.

  • The senior adults which are a central manpower of economic activity of the nation decreased and the elderly sustenance allowance already went over 10%. And the economic activity participation of the woman which are the supporter of the unpaid the elderly within the family is increasing. This big change is expected to support awareness. To respond to these changes, the improvement of social welfare system for elderly with the job of retirement lifestyles of the elderly, a figure that is needed for the ceremony. The elderly medical treatment facility that began in 2008 the elderly long-term medical treatment law enforcement because of the demand is expected to grow. It is forecast with the fact that the data which is fundamental is most important will become that old person medical treatment facility of the middle-aged layer which is a central role of the protector who decides the facility use of the preliminary consumer of the elderly care facility and currently the very the elderly and manhood ceremony and the preference to plan of the elderly welfare facility. The purpose of this study is to present the fundamental data about the elderly care facility for comparative analysis the awareness & perfernces of the elderly care facilities of the senior adults & the elderly.

A Study on the Financial Stress and Retailer Selection of the Elderly

  • Purpose - The purpose of the study was to investigate the financial difficulty of the elderly in each income group and to examine the factors having related influence. The study adopted models with Korean welfare panel material and examined factors that having influence upon low income elderly's selection on retail business. Research design, data, and methodology - The study investigated the effects having influence upon the financial difficulty of elderly household as well as common household. It also examined independence variables having influence upon household's financial stress and found out the direction of financial control in elderly household. The study investigated the effect of financial stress upon economy to support consumption of the elderly. Results - In cases of financial difficulties, independent variables of the debt increased the financial difficulties of elderly households relying upon traditional markets. The elderly households had financial difficulties because of independent variables of the debt except for loan from financial institution. Conclusions - In this study, the elderly's financial stress had influence upon the use of retail business and the characteristics of residing and family. Further study shall give support policies for the elderly to alleviate financial burden.

  • The research proposes theoretical recommendations for Smart City that targets elderly citizens. The elderly citizens in question are people currently in their mid-50s to early 60s, in order to adequately employ futuristic technologies into four major sectors: healthcare, post-retirement employment, community-based governance, and environment-friendly infrastructure. The research concludes that the technical application of welfare to the elderlies through constructing a purposeful Smart City is desirable, environmental consideration should come in prior concern as a sustainable foundation.

Importance of relationship quality and communication on foodservice for the elderly

  • In order to promote foodservice for the elderly, foodservice managers in Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) must identify the main factors to enhance the satisfaction and behavioral intentions with food service. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between relationship quality (consisting of trust, commitment, and satisfaction) and communication in the formation of elderly's behavioral intentions with food services at CCRCs. A survey was administered to residents in two CCRCs and a total of 327 residents participated. A tested structural equation model exhibited good model fit and explanatory power of the study construct. Satisfaction directly influenced word-of-mouth and service quality has an influence on commitment. Commitment was a significant determinant of behavioral intentions to eat more often in the dining room. Also, communication showed positive association with trust. The results provided strong evidence for the importance of satisfaction and communication as a consequence of relationship marketing efforts. Suggestions for future research to better understand the elderly' behavioral intention judgments were given.

The Effect of Human Capital and Social Capital on the Health Status of the Elderly (중고령기 건강에 대한 인적자본과 사회자본의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of human capital and social capital, including employment status, education, income, social supports, and social participations, on the health status of the elderly aged over 50, after controlling for various demographic variables. Data were from the 6th wave of the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study(n=3,459). The major findings of this study were as follows: First, human capital and social capital were both resources that can contribute to improving the health status of the elderly aged over 50. Second, the effects of human capital and social capital on the health status of the elderly differed in the three subsamples defined by employment status. Based on the empirical results, policy implications were provided.

  • The development of modern medicine and economic growth has caused the elderly population to increase rapidly in Korea and the country is becoming an aging society. As the population of elderly has increased the interest in silver towns has also increased. the elderly population is more affluent in the past and more willing to spend their money on themselves. This led to the need of supplying silver towns where they can have comfortable retirement. The research conducted for this study was to understand the silver town market by finding the preference of silver town service according to their life style. The target of this survey was the pre-elderly in the Cheongju area and several analysis techniques like factor analysis, crowding analysis, and conjoint analysis were used to understand the life style of the preelderly and preference factors of silver town services.
