The Relation of Peer Group Caring Interaction, Professional Self-concept, and Nurses' Retention (병원 간호사의 동료간 돌봄-배려행위, 전문직 자아개념, 재직의도의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the relation of peer group caring interaction, Professional self-concept, and Nurses' Retention. The subjects of this study are 133 nurses who have worked for more than three months at five general hospitals with more than 300 beds in S city. As a result of the study, nurses' retenstion was higher than those of under 25 years of age between 30 and 35(F=3.313, p=.039).The professional self-concept of hospital nurses has been identified as an influence factor of intent to serve. Professional self-concepts have been shown to be better with higher peer-care and consideration(r=.397, P=.004). The peer group caring interaction behavior can occur not only between colleagues but also between managers. Therefore, it is necessary to proceed with the manager's group caring interaction as a follow-up study.

Determinants of Talent Retention in Textile and Garment Companies in Binh Duong Province

  • This study investigates determinants of talent retention in textile and garment companies located in Vietnam's Binh Duong province to propose feasible actions for their sustainable development in the current context of competition on the labor market. This study uses self-completed questionnaires to collect data which are then analysed with statistical methods including scale reliability, exploratory factor analysis, and multiple linear regression. Specifically, results from an official survey of 129 people who are regarded as talents in related companies show that there are ten determinants, ranked in descending order of their importance, including: working environment; training and promotion opportunities; salary and benefits; personal loyalty; relationship with colleagues; nature of work; organizational recognition; type of ownership; relationship with superiors; and working experience. Moreover, it is also found that foreign companies are better in retaining their talents than private domestic ones. These findings suggest that, depending on their available resources, organizations need to focus on some of these factors to improve their talent retention; among them, it is critical to provide creative space or create conductive working environment by providing talents with proper tools and equipment for them to feel excited with their work and get things done in an optimal, efficient and effective manner.

Retention Factors Influencing Hanwoo Stock (broth) and Boiled Beef (국내산 쇠고기 수육 및 육수의 영양소 잔존량에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluates the nutritional retention factors influencing beef based on different cuts and boiling. Two cuts (brisket and shin foreshank) were prepared from beef and used in this experiment. Boiling methods were applied to each cut. The fat content of the boiled shin foreshank cut (236.43%) exceeded that of the brisket cut (142.38%). The moisture content of the boiled brisket cut (47.68%) was lower than that of the shin foreshank cut (49.54%). The sodium content of the boiled shin foreshank cut (47.89%) exceeded that of the brisket cut (37.30%). The potassium content of the boiled brisket cut (41.90%) exceeded that of the shin foreshank cut (39.63%). The calcium content of the boiled brisket cut (48.43%) was lower than that off the shin foreshank cut (71.34%). The phosphorus content of the boiled brisket cut (58.09%) exceeded that of the shin foreshank cut (57.24%). The iron content of the boiled brisket cut (72.72%) was lower than that of the shin foreshank cut (87.29%). Nutritional retention factors represent output data on cooking methods with a yield (%) for each item.

A Study on the Development of Design Model of Ecological Park as Stormwater Storage Facilities (저류지 생태공원 설계모형 개발에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities. The results are as follows : First, the design model of ecological park as stormwater storage facilities consider ecological and landscape characteristics such as high efficiency of land use, function as disaster prevention, ecological water purification, formation of habitat for flora and fauna. Second, this study demonstrates two types of plane structure and eight types of designed section. They can be combined and designed depending on conditions of each site. The facilities of stormwater storage conduct disaster prevention system and ecological park. Retention pond in stormwater storage facilities for ecological park also should be made for ecological restoration in the site. Third, the ecological park provide the basis for ecological network from in-site to out-site. Therefore its conservation and restoration plan consider the ecosystems of the site. Fourth, the most important factor for maintenance and management for retention pond is keeping water quality. Sustainable Structured wetland Biotop system is suggested for ecological water purification system in the retention pond which is one of the constructed wetland system using multi-celled aquatic plant and pond. This system can also provide habitat for animals and plants, water friendly park for men, and beautiful landscape.

  • Chromatographic retention mechanism of seven benzoic acids in RPLC were investigated. Inorganic salt is pertinent for the measurement of dead time in benzoic acid. Logarthims of capacity factor (log k') and Hildebrand solubility parameter (${\delta}$) showed proportional relationship which imply the hydrophobic effect of the retention mechanism in RPLC. Enthalpies of solute transfer showed inverse proportion to temperature and organic modifier ratio of the mobile phase. It was found that the S value showed positive slope in plot of log k' vs. volume fraction of water in mobile phase. Free energy change increases with increasing organic volume fraction. The hydrophobicity index, ${\varphi}_0$(organic volume fraction) is inversely proportional to column temperature.

A Qualitative Inquiry Into the Challenges of Medical Education for Retention of General Practitioners in Rural and Underserved Areas of Iran

  • Objectives: General practitioners (GPs) retention in rural and underserved areas highly effects on accessibility of healthcare facilities across the country. Education seems to be a critical factor that affects GPs retention. Thus, the present study aimed at inquiry into medical education challenges that limit their retention in rural and underserved areas. Methods: A qualitative approach was applied for the aim of this study. Data were gathered via 28 semi-structured interviews with experts at different levels of Iran's health system as well as GPs who retained and refused to retain working in rural settings. Interviews mainly were performed face-to-face and in some cases via telephone during 2015 and then coded and analyzed using content analysis approach. Results: Iran's medical education is faced with several challenges that were categorized in four main themes including student selection, medical students' perception about their field of study, education setting and approach, curriculum of medical education. According to experts this challenges could results in making GP graduates disinterested for practicing in rural and underserved areas. Conclusions: Challenges that were found could have negative effects on retention. Modification in student's perception about rural practice could be done via changing education setting and approach and curriculum. These modifications could improve GPs retention in rural and underserved areas.

Assessment of the fonction of Retention Pond, A-71 Motorway, France (프랑스 A-71고속도로변 Retention Pond의 기능평가)

  • Retention ponds have been dug along some of the motorways to control water flow during rainstorms and to minmize environmental pollution. A retention pond located at Les Ardilleres about 20km South of Orleans along the A-71 motorway has been selected to evaluate the effectiveness of such a pond as a trap for heavy metals. Based on the "index of geoaccumulation" and the "enrichment factor" normalized to Fe introduced by Muller in 1979 and by Helz in 1976, respectively, the degree of contamination by heavy metals for the roadside soil and the settling particles was evaluated. As expected, the contamination was very severe in the roadside soil, while it was not so great in the settling particles. Using these methods, cadmium anomaly was traced in the settling particles of the retention pond, their occurrence being attributed partly to natural and partly to anthropogenic pollution. The estimated input of heavy metals associated with settling particles to the pond was 0.9 g/day Pb, 2.1 g/day Zn and 6mg/day Cd. A tentative mass balance of Pb and Zn originated by motor vehicles suggested that only 5 to l1% of heavy metals deposited on the surface of the motorway is carried to the retention pond by runoff water ; suggestions are made to improve their efficiency.ve their efficiency.

Effects of Memory and Learning Training on Neurotropic Factor in the Hippocampus after Brain Injury in Rats (뇌손상 흰쥐에서 기억과 학습훈련이 해마의 신경 성장인자에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was to investigate the effects of restoring cognition function and neurotrophic factor in the hippocampus according to memory and learning training in rats affected by brain injury. Brain injury was induced in Sprague-Dawley rats(36 rats) through middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAo). And then experiment groups were randomly divided into three groups; Group I: Brain injury induction(n=12), Group II: the application for treadmill training after brain injury induction(n=12), Group III: the application for memory and learning training after brain injury induction(n=12). Morris water maze acquisition test and retention test were performed to test cognitive function. And the histological examination was also observed through the immunohistochemistric response of BDNF(brain-derived neurotrophic factor) in the hippocampus. For Morris water maze acquisition test, there were significant interactions among the groups with the time(p<.001). The time to find the circular platform in Group III was more shortened than in Group I, II on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th day. For Morris water maze retention test, there were significant differences among the groups(p<.001). The time to dwell on quadrant circular platform in Group III on the 13th day was the longest compared with other groups. And as the result of observing the immunohistochemistric response of BDNF in the hippocampus CA1, the response of immunoreactive positive in Group III on the 7th day increased more than that of Group I, II. These results suggested that the memory and learning training in rats with brain injury has a more significant impact on restoring cognitive function via the changes of neurotropic factor expression and synaptic neuroplasticity.

Effect of Dietary Calcium Level on the Digestibility, Excretion and Retention of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in Pig (돼지사료에 있어서 Ca수준이 질소와 인의 소화율, 배설량 및 축적량에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was carried out to determine the effect of dietary calcium(Ca) levels(low : 0.29, medium : 0.65 and high : 1.07%) on the digestibility, excretion and retention of nitrogen(N) phosphorus (P) in pigs fed diets supplemented with phytase(750U/kg). Twelve growing-finishing pigs(average body weight: 35kg) were divided into 3 groups and these pigs were reared in metabolism cage. After 10 days adaptation period, N and P balance experiments were carried out for 4 days. The results were summarized as follows ; 1. The High-Ca group was lower than the others in digestibility of P(Low-Ca and Medium-Ca group). 2. The amount of daily excretion of urinary N were 19.6g in Low-Ca group and 16.7g in high-Ca group. The High-Ca group was the lowest(22.71%/d) in the total N excretion. 3. The High-Ca group was the highest and the Low-Ca group the lowest in fecal P excretion. The urinary P excretions per day were 1.90g in Low-Ca group and 0.04g in High-Ca group. The medium-Ca group showed the lowest total P excretion(4.57g/d). 4. The N retention of the High-Ca group(20.50g) was greater than that of the Low-Ca group and Medium-Ca(5.02)g was the highest and the Low-Ca groups(3.92g) was the lowest in the P retention. These results indicate that dietary Ca level was an important factor influencing N and P utilization in pigs.

A Study on the Factor of Retention Intention on Nurses in Small and Medium-sized Hospitals (중소병원 간호사의 재직의도 영향요인 연구)

  • Purpose: This study was a descriptive study to investigate on the effect of calling, self-efficacy, workplace bullying on retention intention among nurses in small and medium-sized hospitals. Methods: The research subjects were 224 nurses selected through convenient sampling from among those who have worked six months or longer in seven small and medium-sized hospitals located in G City. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire from July 17 to 30, 2018. The data was analyzed by descriptive statics, a t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and a stepwise multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 22.0 program. As a measuring tool, Calling was the Calling & Vocational Questionnaire (CVQ) developed by Dik, Eldrige and Steger (2008). Self-efficacy was developed by Sherer et al. (1982) and modified by Jeong Ae-soon (2007). Workplace bullying was developed by Einarsen, Raknes and Matthiesen (1994) in the Norwegian Negative Behavioral Experience Questionnaire (NAQ), and by Nam Woong et al. (2010). The retention intention was to use NRI (Nurses' Retention Index) developed by Cowin (2002) as a tool for Kim Min-jung (2006). Results: Factors affecting nurses' retention were analyzed. The analysis showed that retention intention was positively affected by self-efficacy (β=.24, p<.001), sense of calling (β=.23, p<.001) and annual wage (β=.21, p=.001) and negatively affected by workplace bullying (β=-.16, p=.008) on a statistically significant level, with an explanatory power of 28.6%.
