Cure Characteristics, Mechanical Properties, Abrasion Property and Thermal Properties of EVM/EPM Blends Containing Flame Retardants

  • The curing behavior, mechanical properties, hot-air aging resistance, abrasion properties,thermal properties, etc., of EVM/EPM/APP (ammonium polyphosphate)/DPER (dipentaerythritol)/EG (expandable graphite) and EVM/EPM/ATH (aluminium trihydroxide) flame retarding systems in ethylene vinyl acetate rubber (EVM) blends with EPM (ethylene propylene rubber) were sequentially examined. For both flame retarding systems, the torque values increased with the content of EPM rubber and with the vulcanization time. As the content of EPM rubber increased, the scorch time became shorter, whereas the optimum cure time followed an increasing trend. For the EVM/EPM/APP/DPER/EG flameretarding system, as the content of EPM rubber increased, the hardness did not change,whereas the tensile strength and elongation at break decreased. A hot-air aging resistance test at $150^{\circ}C$ showed that the heat resistance decreased with the EPM content regardless of the kinds and contents of flame retardants. As the EPM content increased, the abrasion rate became higher and the abrasion resistance of the EVM/EPM/APP/DPER/EG flame retarding systems exceeded that of the EVM/EPM/ATH flame retarding counterparts. In comparison with the EVM/EPM/ATH flame retarding systems, the thermal stability of the EVM/EPM/APP/DPER/EG flame retarding system showed an increasing tendency.

스파크 점화 기관의 실린더 블록 진동 신호를 이용한 노킹 제어 (Knock Control Using Cylinder Block Vibration Signals in a Spark-Ignition Engine)

  • The objective of this study is to develope knock control algorithms which can increase engine power without causing frequent knock occurrence. A four cylinder spark-ignition engine is used for the experiments to develop knock control algorithms which use block vibration signals. Knock occurrence is detected accurately by using knock threshold values which consider the difference of transmission path of each cylinder. Spark timing is controlled both simultaneously and individually. With the simultaneous control, torque gain is achieved by retarding the spark timing on knock occurrence in propotion to the knock intensity. The individual knock control algorithm results in higher torque gain than the simultaneous knock control algorithm. The knock occurrence frequency of the individual knock control algorithm is about twice the value of the simultaneous knock control algorithm results. Both control algorithms give similar torque gain of about 3% when they are optimized.

커플링제로 처리된 질화규소 분말의 사출성형 (Injection Molding of Silicon Nitride Powders Treated with Coupling Agents)

  • The effects of silane coupling agents on the injection molding process were investigated using silicone nitride mixtrues with a binder system containing polypropylene as a major binder (55vol% solid loading). The formation of bonding between silicon nitride powder and coupling agents was confirmed through the analyses of powder surface. The use of coupling agents improved mixing characteristics judged by the torque change during mixing process. the coupling agents also reduced molten viscosity of the mixture considerably, which is a main factor to determine the flow of the mixture. However, the bonding between coupling agents and polymers had a negative effect on the debinding process by retarding the thermal decomposition.

온도변화에 따른 터빈유량계의 성능 시험 (Performance Test of Turbine Flowmeter According to Temperature Variation)

  • In general industry, TFM(turbine flow meters) as measuring instruments having high reliability are widely used in the trade of petroleum and in the measurement of tap water and hot water. The TFM is performed calibration for using in the field and is mainly calibrated at room temperature. Since accuracy of TFM depends on Reynolds number of fluid, TFM is calibrated at same Reynolds number by changing flow rate. Furthermore, the TFM using a fluid of high temperature should have considered for other factors such as the thermal expansion of the parts and characteristics change is unknown changes in the turbine flow meter accordingly. In this paper, two turbine flowmeter are experimentally studied about characteristics change using the facilities which can change fluid temperature from 6 degree celsius to 90 degree celsius. As a result, the turbine flow meter can be calibrated to minimize the error characteristic at a similar temperature and the actual temperature.

함정용 디젤 연료와 바이오디젤 연료를 적용한 단기통 디젤엔진에서 연료분사시기가 연소 및 질소산화물 배출특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of fuel injection timing on the combustion and NOx emission characteristics in a single cylinder diesel engine applied with diesel fuel for naval vessel and biodiesel)

  • 본 논문에서는 해군함정의 추진용 디젤엔진의 연료로 사용되는 선박용 디젤연료와 바이오디젤을 단기통 엔진에 적용시켜 연료분사시기에 따른 실린더 내 연소특성, 엔진성능 및 질소산화물 배출 특성을 분석하고, 초고속 카메라를 이용하여 선박용 디젤연료와 바이오디젤연료의 연소과정을 분석하는데 초점을 두었다. 연료분사시기가 $BTDC25^{\circ}CA$에서 $BTDC5^{\circ}CA$까지 지각될수록 실린대 내 연소최고압력은 점점 떨어졌으나, 토크는 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 질소산화물은 $BTDC15^{\circ}CA$에서 가장 높게 측정되었으며, $BTDC15^{\circ}CA$를 기준으로 지각 및 진각조건에서는 저감되는 것으로 분석되었다. 연료분사시기가 $BTDC5^{\circ}CA$일 때 선박용 디젤연료와 바이오디젤연료의 연소과정을 비교한 결과 산소가 포함된 바이오디젤연료의 착화시기가 선박용 디젤연료보다 빠르나, 화염이 확산되어 발달할수록 화염강도는 선박용 디젤연료가 큰 것으로 분석되었다.
