  • Internal deficiency of vital Qi is origination of cancer and root cause of its development from the viewpoint of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). For about 40 years, China has developed a combined system of TCM and Western medical system in treatment of cancers, laying stress on the therapeutic principle of strengthening the body resistance and restoring normal functioning of the body to consolidate the constitution (Fu Zheng Pei Ben). According to the results of the latest clinical and experimental studies, Chinese medicine not only increases curative effectiveness, but also reduces the side effect caused by the toxic, radio and chemical treatment of cancer cases in the western medical system as well as various complications. Long-term taking Chinese herbal medicine prevents recurrence and metastasis of tumor, and heightens long-term curative effectiveness after western medical treatments. It also helps to relieve symptoms, improve the quality of life, and prolong life of terminal cancer patients who have already lost opportunities of western medical treatments. In addition, it can prevent and cure premonitory symptoms of cancer.

  • Industrialization has accelerated the expansion of mobility to the urban areas, land use for function of residence and consumption. With the urbanization, the management and distribution of the physical space of the city and rational design have also become major issues. Rapid and widespread urbanization has consistently accumulated problems of natural, physical, environmental, and psychological circumstances, and most of urban areas have begun to focus on restoring an efficient, safe and healthy urban environment to improve of the quality of life since the latter half of the 20th century, New-Urbanism is a new urban development paradigm that resembles the practical implications of a shared economy for social, economic and environmental cost reduction.. The geographical significance of the sharing city's concept of the alleys is to revitalize sustainable cities while restoring the attractive elements of the city. This study examines the lessons of New-Urbanism in those traditional urban space comparing with each East Asia's cities such as golmok (alley or backlane) in Seoul, Huton in Beijing, Lilong in Shanghai, and Roji in Japan. This study diagnoses whether main principals of New-Urbanism such as development of good community and walkable pedestrian route, restoration of regional identity and sense of the place, and mitigation of climate change strategy can be practiced in the community of alley as well.

  • Jukseoru as an official pavilion of the government, one of the eight sceneries in Gwndong Area, is located on the cliff over Osipcheon River. This paper interprets form and space of the pavilion with restored old life by analyzing pictures of official party in 18th century in Chosun Dynasty. Every part of the space is occupied by persons by the class and duty: the pricipal guest, nobles, subordinates, gisaengs, court musicians, and guards from the high to the low and from the inside to the outside. Applying the analysis to the Jukseoru pavilion, the noblest lord takes sit on the platform in front of folded screen at main bay under checked ceiling, enclosed by low timber beam. The next northern end bay is a place for subordinates' and servants' waiting for preparation for rice wine. Southern end entrance bay is not a result of later addition but deliberately and originally made for lower place outside the railing of wooden floor: for a waiting woman gisaeng, and subordinates. Outside under the eaves on the platform with bedrock, artificial stone and soil is a place for court musicians, subordinates, and guards. The yard in front of the building is a place for preparing meals by cookers. Every detailed ornamental form is different each other by the place for the occupied class. Existing theory tells that the building, 7 bays gable-and-hipped roof, is a result of structural extention of 2 bays at the 5 bays gabled-roof. However, through the interpretation of old pictures and application to the pavilion, the present Juseoru is not a result of later structural addition, but deliberately designed creation suited to life in hierarchical traditional society.

  • Cordyceps, one of the well-known traditional Chinese medicines, consists of the dried fungus C. sinensis growing on the larva of caterpillar. It is commonly used as a tonic of restoring vital body functions. In order to evaluate the pharmacological effects of C. militaris, the anti-oxidation and antiaging effect of cultured C. militaris growing on pupa of silkworm Bombyx mori, were investigated. The results showed! that the contents of lipofusin in myocardium were reduced and the SOD activity in the liver were elevated in a dose-dependent manner while no effect was observed for blood GSH-Px activity and liver MDA content in mice perfused with the cultured C. militaris compared to those untreated mice. Furthermore, the average life span, maximum life span and 50% death time of the fruit flies treated with cultured C. militaris were markedly prolonged. The results suggest that the cultured C. militaris growing on pupa of silkworm possesses anti-oxidation and delay senescence activity.

  • This study is purposed to discuss attributes and limitations of neo-liberalism and to offer some roles of Christian education corresponding neoliberalism. Neo-liberalism is an econosuperism that entrusts all things to market order, and it regards this market as utopia. It does not remain as just an economical principle, but influences all aspects in human life. Then it shows its religiosity connecting to capitalism. Every human in it is thought of as flexible workforces appropriate to neo-liberalism market. Such being the case neo-liberalsim strenghtens instrumentation in education. Then it distorts freedom and equality, and it weakens traditional values. Because of this, modern people's identity is getting to be lost and their human characters to be floated. This study discusses these things critically, and offers roles of Christian education such as founding a well balanced understanding on the Scripture against this neo-liberalsim market, restoring the essential purpose of education from instrumentation in education, and investigating and applicating a holistic human character on the basis of a Christian anthropology against this new human character of neo-liberalsim.

  • Modern Chinese Literature, the so-called 'feminist' is a very modern and the traditional criticism and took an important position in the double action. Because a woman's freedom from the bondage of traditional ethics of restoring the social status equal to men but to women does not give, that compared to men and women just the dimension of the problem of isolation is not just. It is dominated by yugajeok worldview by streamlining the whole Chinese society to build a modern society and the country was a critical task. However, multi-cultural life of Lin, Hui-yin and Ling, Shu-hua in the history of the world's attention to the shrine was worried attention to soils, rather than East-West dualism law by taking a mixture of both women in modern Chinese literature and Western literature from the center of efforts to overcome the traditional point hayeotdaneun feminist literature that may be different. Lin, Hui-yin and Ling, Shu-hua to overcome the Western-oriented culture really the true dream of China's globalization and localization could be regarded. She naesewotdeon the banner of feminist literature in the traditional 'anti feudal', 'free personality' silcheondoen under such slogans as well as women's liberation from traditional, male-oriented perspective away from the women's unique experiences and new understanding of the value of the superiority the concept of a woman, and was to create. In particular, the femininity of these women who traditionally associated with women and the unique culture - the creation of a new consciousness, a re-evaluation of traditional feminine skills and talents was to try to.

  • The interrelationship of Korea southeast region community related to a mask dramas in depth. The Folk mask dramas are, for traditional community members to live well and enjoy cultural practices in society. Even if a mask drama would be performed in the 21st century, it would be the one of traditional society. It shows the life of traditional society and proposes the issue of traditional society. The thing is handed down well with technology of a mask drama assigned as intangible cultural asset. The Korea southeast region, Kyongsang Provinces, or Yeongnam area has been handed down several kind of mask dramas. These are Byeolsingut Talnori with religious, the Ogwangdae of wandering play team, the Ogwangdae of local residents, and the Dulnorum of local residents. The mask dramas of Korea southeast region are specified as intangible cultural asset, many traditional mask play were restored. The restoring is imitation. These things are difficult to assigned as the intangible cultural asset. But though it is the imitation of the mask dramas, it is culture phenomenon. So we need to make the fostering system.

Ethanol Extract of Mori Folium Inhibits AICAR-induced Muscle Atrophy Through Inactivation of AMPK in C2C12 Myotubes (C2C12 근관세포에서 상엽에 의한 AMPK의 불활성화와 AICAR로 유도된 근위축 억제의 연관성에 관한 연구)

  • AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) functions as a metabolic master through regulating and restoring cellular energy balance. In skeletal muscle, AMPK increases myofibril protein degradation through the expression of muscle-specific ubiquitin ligases. Mori Folium, the leaf of Morus alba, is a traditional medicinal herb with various pharmacological functions; however, the effects associated with muscle atrophy have not been fully identified. In this study, we confirmed the effects of AMPK activation by examining the effects of 5-aminoimidazole-4-carboxamide ribonucleotide (AICAR), an activator of AMPK, on the induction of atrophy and expression of atrophy-related genes in C2C12 myotubes. We also investigated the effects of the ethanol extract of Mori Folium (EEMF) on the recovery of AICAR-induced muscle atrophy in C2C12 myotubes. It was found that exposure to AICAR resulted in the stimulation of Forkhead box O3a (FOXO3a); an up-regulation of muscle-specific ubiquitin ligases such as Muscle Atrophy F-box (MAFbx)/atrogin-1 and muscle RING finger-1 (MuRF1), and a down-regulation of muscle-specific transcription factors, such as MyoD and myogenin; with the activation of AMPK. In addition, AICAR without cytotoxicity indicated a decrease in diameter of C2C12 myotubes. However, treatment with EEMF significantly suppressed AICAR-induced muscle atrophy of C2C12 myotubes in a dose-dependent manner as confirmed by a decrease in myotube diameter, which is associated with a reversed stimulation of FOXO3a by the inhibition of AMPK activation. These results indicate that the activation of AMPK by AICAR induces muscle atrophy, and EEMF has preeminent effects on the inhibition of AICAR-induced muscle atrophy through the AMPK signaling pathway.
