  • This study was conducted to determine the effects of cutting position, media, and auxin on rooting of Artemisia keiskeana cuttings. In the cutting positions, the cutting of middle and basal positions had a better growth in the both upper and lower part than the cutting of the top position. Especially, the cutting of the middle position showed the highest rooting rate, at 68.3%. In the media, peatmoss showed the latest date on the rooting initiation. Also, the growth, survival rate and rooting rate of the upper part and lower part were low. However, the cutting in vermiculate showed the fastest date on the rooting initiation, and had a significant effect on the growth of the upper part and lower part, showing the highest rooting rate and survival rate in all tested media. When cuttings were treated by auxin, the rooting rate and growth of cuttings were higher than the control. The control showed the lowest rooting rate, at 41%, while, the auxin treatment showed the highest, rate over 80%. Whereas when treated by NAA, the lower part of cuttings had a better growth than these treated by IBA. Also, the higher the concentration of auxin was, the higher the rooting rate and growth rate of Artemisia keiskeana cuttings were.

  • Bone and soft tissue conditions are important for successful implant treatment. But, the placement itself is also very important. Implants which is installed in the wrong position result in the biological, esthetical and mechanical problems. In order to place an implant in the correct position, the final restoration and diagnostic wax-up should be considered prior to the surgery. If the artificial teeth for the interim denture are directly transferred from the diagnostic wax-up, the operator can try the form of diagnostic wax-up in the mouth. If the surgical template is produced by duplicating the interim denture, the implant can be placed in the planned position. In this case, the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) artificial tooth was precisely milled by the digital duplication of diagnostic wax-up. And interim denture was fabricated by using these milled teeth. After the patient adapted for a sufficient period, the implant was placed at the planned position with surgical template produced by duplicating the interim denture. After confirming sufficient osseointegration, the final prostheses were made to reflect the shape of diagnostic wax-up. Through this procedure, the satisfactory functional and esthetic outcome could be acquired.

  • An archive is a collection of documents or records. Currently, most archived documents are made of paper. Paper is susceptible to biological damage and deterioration due to its material properties. To control the biological damage, treatment with chemical disinfectants and control of the storage environment are often used. In government-controlled bulk public archives, all documents are chemically sterilized before storage. However, an extremely large quantity of public records have been produced, and storage space and conservation management are gradually reaching their limits. In this study, 60 species of microbes were identified using a genetic method. We successfully applied the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) bioluminescence method to detect microbial contamination on paper documents. A calibration curve of the ATP bioluminescence as a function of the microbe quantity was obtained, and the microbial activity on non-sterilized paper archives from 1951 was analyzed using an ATP luminometer. It was found that the microbial activity was suppressed or reduced in climate-controlled storage environments at $22^{\circ}C$ and 55% relative humidity. We anticipate that these results will be used to establish selective sterilization systems for government-controlled bulk public archives.

  • The tombstone of Yi Chungmugong in the Joseon Dynasty located Namhae, Gyeongnam is consisted of sandstone. The Bisin and Bijwa of the tombstone have narrow range of magnetic value less than $0.2({\times}10^{-3}SI\;unit)$ and the Isu covered pigment on surface also has same magnetic susceptibility range. Therefore, the composition of all tombstone have similar lithological characteristics. The side of the tombstone appeared fine-grained sandstone to coarse-grained graywacke boundary clearly and back of tombstone observed lamination. Especially deterioration type is concentrated in front and back of the tombstone blistering (8.2% of back), scaling (10.2% of back), granular disintegration (28.1% of back) and discoloration (53.5% of front). Results of contaminants analysis, the front of the Bisin separated in 3 type of surface - granular disintegration-scaling. Among this area, surface detected Ca, S and Cl in high density, but these contaminants elements have more lower detect density from surface to granular disintegration. By contrast, on scaling area, these components are almost not detected, but Fe, K consisted of rock forming elements are detected. It is necessary to conservation and treatment of Yi Chungmugong tombstone in continuously, and salt cleaning on surface also needed. So through activity of conservation and restoration, epigraph preserved for their worth.

  • This study reported the treatment of a patient with excessive worn dentition and limited maxillo-mandibular space for restoration, utilizing the computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology. After the thorough examination of the patient's occlusal vertical dimension (OVD), full mouth rehabilitation was planned with increase of the OVD. The patient was satisfied with the provisional restorations establishing the increased OVD. The horizontal and vertical data of the patient's jaw relation that the provisional restorations contained were transferred to the definitive metal ceramic fixed prostheses by double scanning and three-dimensional printing. After the fixed restorations were cemented to the abutments, electronic surveying and three-dimensional printing were used to fabricate metal frameworks for the patient's removable partial dentures. The mandibular definitive removable prostheses were delivered to the patient's mouth and the full mouth rehabilitation procedures were completed. The digital technologies used for this case produced fixed and removable restorations satisfactory in masticatory, phonetic and aesthetic functions to both the patient and the dental clinician.

  • Dental implants should be placed at ideal sites for implant-supported restorations. For a patient with insufficient residual ridge, mouth preparation including surgical intervention can be indicated to establish a soft and hard tissue environment favorable for a definitive prosthesis. Prosthodontic design based on computer-guided surgery and computer-aided design-computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) provides a visual blueprint allowing a clinician to assess the necessity of such a surgical intervention beforehand. In this case, a definitive restoration was planned and made via a CAD-CAM system according to the patient's oral status before treatment, simulated surgical interventions and serial provisional restorations. Based on the planning, a guided template was made and the implants were installed with bone augmentation using the template. Customized abutments, the first and the second provisional restorations were designed and fabricated by CAD-CAM. The definitive restorations were digitally made following the shape of the second provisional prostheses, which were confirmed in the patient's mouth. The patient was satisfied with the masticatory, phonetic and aesthetic functions of these definitive prostheses.

  • In case of gingival recession or bone defect in maxillary anterior implant treatment, it is not easy to obtain satisfactory clinical results. In this case, loss of the labial alveolar plate was diagnosed in the maxillary right central incisor, so after tooth extraction, soft tissue was secured and implant placement with bone graft was planned. In addition, digital guide surgery was performed for the ideal implant position, and GBR (Guided Bone Regeneration) was accompanied with the xenogeneic bone and the autologous bone collected from the mandibular ramus since alveolar bone defects were extensive. After a sufficient period of osseointegration of the implant, a temporary prosthesis was fabricated through secondary stage surgery and impression taking, and through periodic external adjustment, the shape of soft tissue was improved. In the final prosthesis fabrication, a color tone of natural teeth was induced by an gold anodized customized abutment, and an aesthetic and functional zirconia prosthesis with reproducing the shape of the temporary prosthesis through intraoral scan was delivered.

  • A crossed occlusion resulting from the presence of posterior teeth in one arch but no opposing teeth in the opposite arch results in collapse of the vertical dimension. In this case, the patient has a class III malocclusion with crossed occlusion and anterior crossbite. In order to evaluate the proper vertical dimension, provisional denture was used to stabilize the vertical occlusal dimension for 3 months. After, provisional fixed restoration was used for the stabilizing occlusal relationship and aesthetic improvement for lip support. Definitive prosthesis in implants in the mandible and abutments in the maxillary were using Porcelain-fused-to-metal crown (PFM) crown and the maxillary unilateral edentulous area was treated with removable partial dentures. Through this, proper support of the posterior region and normal anterior occlusal relationship were formed, and the patient was able to obtain aesthetically and functionally satisfactory treatment results.

  • This study was conducted to provide useful basic data for restoration and maintenance of the Changdeokgung Palace(昌德宮)'s inner palace area in the future by exploring the background of terraced flower beds installed in the front space of Seunghwaru(承華樓) and grasping the reality before and after terraced flower beds were installed. The main results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, in the early 1900s, the front space of Seunghwaru formed a relatively higher terrain than the Nakseonjae(樂善齋) area. In addition, along the topography of high north and low south, a yard surrounded by Haenggak(行閣) and a rectangular open space connected to the West Haenggak of Nakseonjae were created. In particular, the rectangular open space was a staircase-type slope in which rectangular stone columns were arranged at regular intervals. Second, the terraced flower beds of Seunghwaru originated from the renovation of the new building of Nakseonjae West Hanggak, which was implemented in the late 1920s. This is because in order to secure enough available land for construction and auxiliary space during the renovation of the new building, the terraced flower beds for topographic treatment was created along the cutting area after cutting off the original topography of the front space of Seunghwaru. Third, after the construction of the terraced flower beds, many deformation occurred in the topographic features of the front space of Seunghwaru. The front yard of Seunghwaru was relatively higher than the Nakseonjae area, but most of them were cut off and disappeared as the terraced flower beds were created. The staircase-type also disappeared after the construction of the new building and terraced flower beds. The stylobate and front fence of Seunghwaru were newly built along the alignment of terraced flower beds and the unique style of narrow gate and auxiliary stairs were also relocated to the new fence.
