  • A single fiber cut can potentially influence a total of 1.6 Tbps of traffic and is surprisingly frequent and results in significant loss of traffic. The survivability as we as the resource utilization of the connection in optical networks is important. Existing protection mechanisms to rapidly recover the failures allocate the backup path just SRLG-disjointed with working path. Those did not consider the unbalanced resource share of backup paths. The backup paths can be centralized on the specific link so that the idle resource is not used. As a result, as those do not efficiently use the resource the whole resource utilization is not so good. So we propose the mechanism to enhance the resources utilization as settling down the unbalanced resource share. Our purpose is to improve the link utilization as distributing the maximum link load.

  • Round robin based proportional share scheduling(RRPS) defines weight which determines share for each task and allocates CPU resource to each task in proportional to its respective weight. RRPS uses fairness as the measure of performance and aims at high fairness of scheduling. However, researches for scheduling fairness problem due to synchronization among tasks have been rarely investigated. In this paper, we discuss that scheduling delay due to synchronization may result high unfairness in RRPS. We explain such a situation as weight inversion. We then propose weight inheritance protocol(WIP), a synchronization mechanism, that prevents weight inversion. We also show that WIP can reduce unfairness using fairness analysis and simulation.

  • It is expected that device-to-device (D2D) communication is allowed to underlay future cellular networks such as IMT-Advanced for spectrum efficiency. This article studies the mechanisms of D2D communication and interference avoidance when the D2D subsystem reuses uplink resources and downlink spectrums with a cellular system, respectively. We firstly propose an effective scheme to establish and maintain D2D communication. Moreover, a novel method to deal with the resource allocation and interference avoidance issues by utilizing the network peculiarity of a hybrid network to share the uplink resource is proposed. Most research focuses on reusing the uplink spectrums, but how to share the downlink frequency bands is seldom addressed. To share the downlink spectrums and avoid the interference to the primary cellular devices, a labeled time slots based mechanism is proposed. Implementation details are described in a real cellular system and simulation results prove that satisfying performance can be achieved by using the proposed mechanisms.

  • In this letter, a new sharing mechanism, SRLG sharing, is proposed, which allows the links of the same shared risk link group (SRLG) in a primary light tree to share protections in WDM optical networks. In previous studies, how to share spare resources with SRLG constraints has not been studied in multicast optical networks. In this letter, considering SRLG sharing, we propose a novel algorithm -multicast with SRLG sharing (MSS)- to establish a protection light tree. Finally, the algorithm MSS and the algorithm multicast with no SRLG sharing (MNSS) are compared through a simulation to show that our new sharing scheme of SRLG sharing is more efficient than that of no SRLG sharing in terms of spare resource utilization and blocking probability.

  • With the fast development in wireless communications and vehicular technologies, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) have enabled to deliver data between vehicles. Recently, VANETs introduce a Vehicular Cloud (VC) model for collaborating to share and use resources of vehicles to create value-added services. To construct a VC, a vehicle should search vehicles that intend to provide their own resource. The single-hop search cannot search enough provider vehicles due to a small coverage and non-line-of-sights of communications. On the other hand, the multi-hop search causes very high traffics for large coverage searching and frequent connection breakages. Recently, many Roadside Units (RSUs) have been deployed on roads to collect the information of vehicles in their own coverages and to connect them to Internet. Thus, we propose a RSU-aided vehicular resource search and cloud construction mechanism in VANETS. In the proposed mechanism, a RSU collects the information of location and mobility of vehicles and selects provider vehicles enabled to provide resources needed for constructing a VC of a requester vehicle based on the collected information. In the proposed mechanism, the criteria for determining provider vehicles to provide resources are the connection duration between each candidate vehicle and the requester vehicle, the resource size of each candidate vehicle, and its connection starting time to the requester vehicle. Simulation results verify that the proposed mechanism achieves better performance than the existing mechanism.

  • The term 'Grid' refers to systems and applications that integrate and manage resources and services distributed across multiple control domains. Resource sharing is, necessarily, highly controlled, with resource providers and consumers defining clearly and carefully just what is shared, who is allowed to share, and the conditions under which sharing occurs. In this paper, we design and implement a grid access control system, called PGAM. This system works on heterogeneous resources, can be applied to the additional service development and its service, provides template account management mechanism, and tries to ensure site autonomy. This system is implemented to increase portability and to be tit tll any kind of economic model.

  • High population and economic growth leads to ever increasing demand for water resources, prompting many regional conflicts for the water. With the observation, this paper examines the allocation problem of flowing water between upstream and downstream regions, We offer a two- region model in which the downstream region pays a portion of product to the upstream region in order to induce the upstream region to share the water. Our model shows that the "side-payment" does not always work, because the ex post income of the downstream region could be lower than the income without the side-payment This happens when the externality the upstream region imposes on the downstream region is small. The paper derives the condition under which the incentive mechanism like side-payment is likely to fail (or work). The model also shows that the higher the degree of externality is, the less amount of side-payment should be. The results of the paper suggest that the incentive scheme can help the regional conflicts be solved if the externality effect generated by the water use of upstream region is big enough, which is in fact the case where the conflict is severe.

  • Due to the ossification of the Internet, it is difficult to accommodate variety services. One of the efficient solution to this problem is network virtualization. It allows multiple parallel virtual networks to run on the shared physical infrastructure. It needs new resource allocation mechanism to share efficient physical resources. In this paper, we present efficient bandwidth allocation algorithm for virtual network request with high service priority. Our proposed algorithm can withdraw allocated bandwidth from low-level priority virtual network and maintain low-level virtual network service. We evaluated the performance of our proposed algorithm using simulation and found the improvement of approximately 8% acceptance rate.

  • Cloud computing technology offers function that share each other computer resource, software and infra structure based on network. Virtualization is a very useful technology for operation efficiency of enterprise's server and reducing cost, but it can be target of new security threat when it is used without considering security. This paper proposes access control mechanism based on MAC(Mandatory Access Control) for cloud convergence that solve various problem that can occur in cloud environment. This mechanism is composed of set of state rules, security characteristics and algorithm. Also, we prove that the machine system with access control mechanism and an initial secure state is a secure system. This policy module of mechanism is expected to not only provide the maintenance but also provide secure resource sharing between virtual machines.

  • A general goal of the ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) network is to support connections across various networks. ABR service using EPRCA(Enhanced Proportional Rate Control Algorithm) switch controls traffics in ATM network. EPRCA switch, traffic control method uses variation of the ACR(Allowed Cell Rate) to enhance the utilization of the link bandwidth. However, in ABR(Available Bit Rate) service, different treatments are offered according to different RTTs(Round Trip Times) of connections. To improve the above unfairness, this paper presents ABR DELAY mechanism, in which three reference parameters for cell delay are defined, and reflect on the messages of RM(Resource Management) cells. To evaluate our mechanism, we compare the fairness among TCP connections between ABR DELAY mechanism and ABR RRM mechanism. And also we execute simulations on a simple ATM network model where six TCP connections and a background traffic with different RTTs share the bandwidth of a bottleneck link. The simulation results, based on TCP goodput and efficiency, clearly show that ABR DELAY mechanism improves the fairness among TCP connections.
