  • Purpose: This study was designed to develop a valid and reliable scale for the evaluation of preconception health behavior in women preparing for pregnancy. Methods: The initial strategy included a literature review, interviews, and construction of a conceptual framework. The preliminary items were evaluated twice for content validity by experts, and modified two preliminary investigations. Participants in the 2 main investigations and the confirmation investigation were tested for reliability and validity of the preliminary scale in women preparing for pregnancy. The data were analyzed for different items exploratory and confirmatory factors. Results: The 5-point Likert scale consisted of 6 factors and 27 items. The 6-factors included 'hazardous substance factor,' 'medical management factor,' 'rest and sleep factor,' 'stress management factor,' 'information acquisition factor,' and 'resource preparation factor.' Goodness of fit of the final research model was very appropriate and based on the following measures: Q=1.98, comparative fit index=.91, Tucker-lewis index=.89, standardized root mean square residual=.07, and root mean square error of approximation=.07. The criterion validity was .64. The reliability coefficient was .92 and the test-retest reliability was .61. Conclusion: The study findings indicate that the scale can be used for the development of nursing interventions to promote preconception health behavior in women preparing for pregnancy.

  • The non-homogeneous Poisson process(NHPP) based software reliability growth models are proved quite successful in practical software reliability engineering. The fault detection rate is usually assumed to be the continuous and monotonic function. However, the fault detection rate can be affected by many factors such as the testing strategy, running environment and resource allocation. This paper describes a parameter estimation of software reliability growth model with change-point problem. We obtain the maximum likelihood estimate(MLE) and least square estimate(LSE), and compare goodness-of-fit.

  • This paper presents a resource management mechanism for the mesh networking in IEEE 802.15.3 High-rate WPAN. IEEE 802.15 TGS is standardizing the MAC and PHY for mese networking. This task group researches the mechanism that are extension of network coverage without increasing transmit power of receive sensitivity, and studies the enhanced reliability via route redundancy. In this paper we propose the distributed resource management scheme that is fairly using the channel resource in the piconet without centralized piconet coordinator. Each DEV reserves the channel time and broadcasts its information. This scheme has unfairness for later associated DEV because of preoccupation of earlier associated DEVs. This paper presents the method that fairly allocates the channel time in MAC layer. And we evaluate the performance enhancement using simple simulations.

  • Web-based information resources should be managed and used methodically in the same manner as the paper-based resources are managed and used. It is necessitated by the prevalence of web-based delivery of a variety of information. To develop a web-based digital collection, it is critical to establish a set of standardized evaluation criteria for web-resources. The evaluation criteria needs to include authority, trustworthy, reliability, functionality, relatedness, accessibility, structure, design, user support, and security related matters. However, it is also necessary to have certain flexibility to either emphasize or include particular evaluation criteria to reflect varying characteristics of the web resources especially for the purpose of developing an effective digital collection. In addition, it is essential to review the evaluation criteria with respect to value, demand, duplication prevention, and intellectual property, which are relevant to the web-based digital collection development. Finally, various strategies were suggested as means to develop more effective web-based digital resource collection. These strategies include organizing a selection committee to ensure the objectivity and consistency in web-resource evaluation; developing a model for web-based digital resource collection; sharing new standards, protocols, markups, and metadata with other digital libraries; and developing user-centered digital resource collection.

  • Nationwide supercomputing infrastructures in Korea consist of geographically distributed supercomputing clusters. We developed High-Throughput Computing as a Service(HTCaaS) based on these distributed national supecomputing clusters to facilitate the ease at which scientists can explore large-scale and complex scientific problems. In this paper, we present our mechanism for dynamically managing computing resources and show its effectiveness through a case study of a real scientific application called drug repositioning. Specifically, we show that the resource utilization, accuracy, reliability, and usability can be improved by applying our resource management mechanism. The mechanism is based on the concepts of waiting time and success rate in order to identify valid computing resources. The results show a reduction in the total job completion time and improvement of the overall system throughput.

  • The recent global energy supply crisis has led to increased uncertainty in international energy markets. These market changes lead to a rise in global energy prices and development is expanding to the extreme cold regions (Arctic Circle) where undeveloped energy resources are abundantly stored. Arctic Circle has a special business environment such as natural environment, laws, institutions and culture, research on location evaluation of development areas is necessary in advance. In this study, the spatial information of Alberta, Canada, where non-traditional energy resource development activities have recently been active, was collected and analyzed. In addition, an optimal location evaluation model for resource development was developed using construction environment spatial information data and the reliability is verified by comparing and analyzing the existing resource development areas.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose an objective and rational methodology for the selection of proposed sites far the National Trust(NT), which is the new alterative proposal far the conservation of natural environments destroyed by injudicious land development and economic growth. That is to enforce many analysis for the effective estimation of rare ecological and landscape resources and to propose a model based on estimation and united indicators. Using the estimative model, we apply it to the selection of the proposed site in micro scale and simultaneously offer the basic methodology of effective and systematic land conservation in macro scale. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The results of analysis for the reliability of estimative items and indicators, presented no problem in that the coefficient of reliability was over 0.7. 2) The correlation measure of the estimative indicator indicated that 'succession'and 'regenerating restorability' were highly correlative in the item of plants. Another three items showed a tendency to be alike. 3) The results of factor analysis on the characteristics of indicators, classified plants into four categories including a stable factor. The item of animals was classified as a stable and rare factor. The item of landscape was classified as a physical and mental factor and the environment as a pollutional and conditional factor. 4) The model of estimation created through factor analysis was valid for the approval of the regression model because significant probability was 0.00. When we consider the NT proposed site as a complex body that is composed of diverse natural and manmade resources, certainly the synthetic methodology of estimation is needed. If these studies are carried out, NT sites will be selected more rationally and effectively than at present. Consequently, they have the potential to play a core role of natural ecosystem conservation in Korea.

  • Resource allocation, such as joint rate control and scheduling, is an important issue in cognitive radio networks. However, it is difficult to jointly consider the rate control and scheduling problem due to the stochastic behavior of channel availability in cognitive radio networks. In this paper, we propose an asymmetric joint rate control and scheduling technique under reliability constraints in cognitive radio networks. The joint rate control and scheduling problem is formulated as a convex optimization problem and substantially decomposed into several sub-problems using a dual decomposition method. An algorithm for secondary users to locally update their rate that maximizes the utility of the overall system is also proposed. The results of simulations revealed that the proposed algorithm converges to a globally optimal solution.
