  • A nondestructive quality inspection technique using acoustic impulse response method was developed for eggshell inspection. An experimental system was built to generate the impact force, to measure the response signal and to analyze the frequency spectrum. This system includes an impulse generating unit, an egg holding seal a microphone with preamplifier, and a DSP board installed on Personal Computer. A simple algorithm .was developed for crack detection. Using the developed system with algorithm, crack detection ability was evaluated and the error rate to estimate the normal egg as cracked was found to be 4% and the error rate to estimate the cracked egg as normal was also found to be 4%. This system could be adopted in industry with some modification.

  • The reactionary responses to control human standing dynamics were estimated under the assumption that postural complexity mainly occurs in the mid-sagittal plane. During the experiment, the subject was exposed to continuous horizontal perturbation. The ankle and hip joint rotations of the subject mainly contributed to maintaining standing postural control. The designed mobile platform generated anterior/posterior (AP) motion. Non-predictive random translation was used as input for the system. The mean acceleration generated by the platform was measured as $0.44m/s^2$. The measured data were analyzed in the frequency domain by the coherence function and the frequency response function to estimate its dynamic responses. The significant correlation found between the input and output of the postural control system. The frequency response function revealed prominent resonant peaks within its frequency spectrum and magnitude. Subjects behaved as a non-rigid two link inverted pendulum. The analyzed data are consistent with the outcome hypothesized for this study.

  • In this paper, the response characteristics of organic gases were investigated by using quartz crystal microbalance(Q.C.M) with different polymeric sensitive materials. The new linear parameter was discussed in order to develope gas sensing system using neural network and pattern recognition. We analyzed the response characteristics by the area of resonant frequency shift of quartz crystal, which mean affinities of organic gases for polymeric sensitive firm. The experimental results shows that the parameter made by the area of frequency shift which was linear with injection amount of organic gases has possibility to be used for pattern recognition and neural network. And they have different normalized pattern.

  • In this study, the piezoelectric ceramics/polymer composite transducers with 1-3 connectivity have been studied. A piezoelectric ceramics PZT prepared by Wet-Dry Combination method was used as a filler in polymer matrix Eccogel. We've got the pulse-echo response for 1-3 type piezc-electric composite transducers in water. It was shown that the transmitting and receiving sensitivity of 1-3 type piezoelectric composite transducers could be improved in comparison with that- of solid PZT transducers. The reason is for that 1-3 type Piezoelectric composites have low dielectric constant and density. There was in a good agreement between the resonant frequencies calculated from one period and observed results on the Ultrasonic Transducer Analyzer. According to these results we could be figured out the distance in water by virture of the pulse-echo response.

  • This is an investigation on the propagation characteristics of AE signal in GIS. The selection of measuring position and resonant frequency of AE sensor is one of the most important factor to optimize a diagnostic system. And natural frequency and harmonic response characteristics are indispensable to optimize those factors. So, in this investigation, we make a 3D model of 362kV GIS and make a modal and harmonic analysis to survey the vibro-acoustic property. Through the result of the analysis, we can make a further understanding on the vibro-acoustic characteristics of GIS.

  • Measurement equipment, which consists of He-Ne laser, objective lens, CCD camera and position sensitive detector, was developed for the dynamic response of micromirror. This equipment can measure the tilting direction and angle, the rise time and frequency response of micromirror to the input signal. It was found that the rise time of the micromirror was less than 10${\mu}m$ and the resonant frequency was about 25kHz.

  • The mass-spring system with four arms for the force-balance servo accelerometer was designed and fabricated. The response characteristics of a mass-spring system was calculated with the change of arms thickness and seismic mass by the finite element method (FEM). Furthermore, the response characteristics of accelerometer was measured using the change of interference pattern and response voltage value by Michelson interferometer. The response characteristics with changing length and thickness of arm was changed drastically, and changing seismic mass was minor effect for the response characteristics of mass-spring system. The measured resonant frequencies have good agreement with that of numerical analysis within 5% range.

  • The seismic capacity of electric cabinets in Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) should be qualified before installation and be maintained during operation. However it can happen that identical devices cannnot be produced for replacement of devices mounted in electric cabinets. In case of when no In-Cabinet Response Spectrum (ICRS) is available for new devices, ICRS can be generated by using Finite Element Analysis (FEA). In this study we investigate structural response and ICRSs of battery charger which is supplied to NPPs. Test results on the battery charger are utilized in this study. The response is measured by accelerometers installed on the housing of the battery charger and local panels in the battery charger. Numerical analysis model is established based on resonant frequency search test results and validated by comparison with 2 types of earthquake testing results. ICRSs produced from the numerical model are compared with measured ICRSs in the seismic tests. Developed analysis model is a simple reduced model and anticipates ICRSs quite well as measured response in the tests overall despite of its structural limitation.

  • In the current study, in order to understand the dynamic response characteristics of the system according to the external acoustic forcing, a numerical approach was developed by adding an sign-sweep forcing function to the existing network model. Through this model, the sensitivity of frequency and pressure amplitude changes according to system parameters such as the physical dimensions and boundary conditions of the target combustor was analyzed in a wide frequency range. Analysis results of dynamic response characteristics of the target combustor are shown that the frequency regime with high dynamic pressure response was similar to the instability frequency range measured in the same combustor, and in particular, the response of the system depends greatly on the location of the acoustic forcing source term.
