In this paper, a humidity sensor using a microstrip patch antenna(MPA) and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) is studied. PVA is a polymer material whose permittivity changes with humidity, and a rectangular slot is added to the radiating edge of the MPA, which is sensitive to changes in electric field, in order to increase the sensitivity to changes in relative permittivity. After thinly coating the area around the radiating edge with the rectangular slot of the MPA fabricated on a 0.76 mm-thick RF-35 substrate with PVA, the changes in the resonant frequency and magnitude of the MPA's input reflection coefficient are measured when relative humidity is adjusted from 40% to 80% in 10% increments at a temperature of 25 degrees using a temperature and humidity chamber. Experiment results show that when the relative humidity increases from 40% to 80%, the resonance frequency of the antenna' input reflection coefficient decreases from 2.447 GHz to 2.418 GHz, whereas the magnitude increases from -7.112 dB to -3.428 dB.
In this paper, we designed a reconfigurable slot antenna using sequentially voltage-applied RF MEMS switches. In order to obtain pull-in voltage and maximum stress of the MEMS switches, the switch structures in accordance with airgap height was analyzed by ANSYS simulation A actuation voltage of MEMS switches can be determined by switch geometry and airgap height between a movable plate and a bottom plate. The designed lengths of MEMS switches were 240 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 320 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 400 $\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively and the airgap was 6$\mu\textrm{m}$. The total size of the designed slot antenna was 10 mm x 10 mm and the slot length and width were 500 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 200 $\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. The length and size of the CPW feedline were 5 mm and 30-80-30 $\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively. and then the size of the CPW in the slot was 50-300-150 $\mu\textrm{m}$. The tuning of the resonant frequency of the proposed device is realized by varying the electrical length of the antenna, which is controlled by applying the DC bias voltages to the RF MEMS switches. The designed slot antenna has been simulated, fabricated and measured.
This paper presents a single and 2-patch microstrip array antenna operated on a frequency of 10.3GHz(x-band). It outlines the process of designing a microstrip patch array antenna using CST MWS. Initially, a single microstrip antenna was designed, followed by optimization using CST MWS to attain optimal return losses and gain. Subsequently, the design was expanded to create a 2×1 microstrip inset-fed array antenna for the X-band applications. The construction material is Roger RO4350B, with specific dimensions (h=0.79mm, 𝜖r = 3.54). The achieved results include an S11 of -18dB at the resonant frequency (10.3GHz), a gain of 9.82dBi, a bandwidth of 0.165GHz, and a 3-dB beamwidth of 30°, 121° in Az(𝜑=0) and El(𝜑=90) plane, respectively. The future plan involves the fabrication of this array antenna and further expansion to a 4×4 array of microstrip antennas. It is then incorporated on the X-band applications for practical uses.

In this thesis, the Multi element antenna with wideband and enhanced gain characteristic is proposed to operate at both frequency range from 824 MHz to 896 11Hz for the CDMA and frequency range from 908.5 MHz to 914 MHz for the RFID band. The proposed antenna has tile size of $35{\times}15{\times}5mm^3$ in order to put it in the A model of S company and each element of the proposed antenna is folded to obtain the minimum size. To obtain the antenna with wideband and high gain characteristic, the radiator of the antenna is divided into 4 elements. As a result, bandwidth of the proposed antenna become broader and lower center frequency is appeared due to increased and lengthened current path. Moreover, the enhanced gain characteristic is verified because divided element structure that induct uniform current distribution can get increased antenna efficiency. To attain more uniform current distribution, modified structure of the feeding point that can deliver currents directly is designed. The antenna that alters the feeding structure has higher gain value. Each element is folded to increase the current paths considering the current directions to attain the miniaturization of the antenna. To measure the handset antenna, the handset case must be considered. Even though antenna is designed for predicted characteristic, the resonance frequency is shifted and antenna gain is deteriorated at predicted frequency while antenna is set in the handset case. 1.08 GHz of the resonant frequency is determined after frequency shift from 150 MHz to 200 MHz is confirmed and the maximum gain is measured as 3.1 dBi while antenna is not set in the handset. In case handset case is considered, the experimental results show that the impedance bandwidth for VSWR<2 is from 0.824 GHz to 0.936 GHz(110 MHz). This result appears that the proposed antenna can cover both CDMA and RFID band at once. The measured gain is from -3.4 dBi to -0.5 dBi and it has omni-directional pattern practically.
We report microwave properties of high-T$_c$ superconducting (HTS) microstrip antennas without impedance matching circuits, where the impedance mismatching is obvious under the critical temperature (T$_c$). The superconducting thin films used in this report were YBa$_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) films deposited on MgO substrates produced by pulse laser deposition (PLD) technique. At around T$_c$, 86 K the reflection coefficient rapidly drops, and the standing wave ratio (SWR) becomes almost unity, and the characteristic impedance based on the Smith chart is nearly 50 ${\Omega}$. The reflection coefficient and the SWR of the HTS microstrip antenna were - 62.52 dB and 1.0015, respectively, at the resonant frequency of 11.812 CHz at 86 K.

Dielectric cover effect of rectangular microstrip patch antenna on uniaxial substrates with airgap are studied. First, we derive Dyadic Green function for selected anisotropic material by constitutive relation and then formulate integral equations of electric fields using Fourier transform in space region. Using Galerkin's moment method, we discretize the electric field integral equations into the matrix form and select sinusoidal functions as basis functions. We verify the validity of numerical results and compare the results with existing ones in showing a good agreement between them. When the dielectric cover thickness is varied, the resonant frequencies and input impedances in the variation of air gap, patch length and thickness and permittivity of superstrate are presented and analyzed.

In this paper, we propose a lossy MTM transmission line unit cell and retrieve the parameter values related with radiation effects. Based on this unit cell model, we plot dispersion diagrams and analyze resonance conditions. We also discuss the input impedance or admittance behavior when we terminate the load as open or short. Then, we examine the quality factor and return loss bandwidth. We also design a very compact unit cell antenna using the provided lossy MTM-TL model. The results based on EM simulations and measurements are shown to be in good agreement with those based on circuit simulation.

In this paper, a triple band-notched UWB antennas using a spiral resonator and a complementary split ring resonator is proposed as two types. The band-rejection characteristic of the designed antenna is analyzed through the structure and equivalent circuit model of spiral resonator and CSRR. The measured results of first type antenna show that a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied with a resonant frequency in the range of 1.16~12 GHz and it can be obtained the band-stop performance at 3.3~3.85 GHz, 5.15~6.1 GHz, and 8.025~8.5 GHz. The measured results of second type antenna show that a VSWR less than 2 was satisfied with this antenna works from 1.79 to 12 GHz and it can be achieved the band-notched performance at 3.3~3.88 GHz, 5.12~5.94 GHz, and 8.025~8.51 GHz. Through the measured results, the designed antenna was satisfied UWB band except for triple notched bands.

This paper proposes a design technique of wide-band antenna for handy phone with 700 MHz LTE(Long Term Evolution) low frequency bandwidth. The proposed antenna based on the PIFA(Planar Inverted-F type Antenna) structure was designed and considered. In order to realize the wide bandwidth, a round structure which is able to control the electric path length of current and a branch line element which can be obtain the dual resonance characteristics were introduced in this design. As a result, It was realized about 95 MHz bandwidth in spite of very small space of $30{\times}34mm$ used for FR-4 substrate with relative permitivity of 4.4 at 700 MHz band. Measurement results of return loss, bandwidth and gain radiation pattern were agreed well with their calculation results.

A modified transmission line model is proposed for input impedance analysis of a square microstip antenna with single-circularly-polarized. Alog-periodic arrangement with microstrip antenna (LPMA) which consists of 3 resonant element ($3\times1$) is designed for broadband operation ranging from 11.2 GHz to 12.4 GHz, based on this pro- posed model from transmission line model. Aplanar array ($3\times4$array), in which 4sets of the above LPMA are in the same plane, is fabricated for high gain X-band satellite communication antennas. The optimum spacing between each LPMA is determined using computer simulation for the minimum bariation of far field pattern and null. This $3\times4$array has a measured values of gain greater than 8dBi, VSWR les then 2.3, and bandwidth greater than 7% respectively.
