  • Wavelet transforms are introduced as a new tool to distinguish real peaks from the noise contaminated NMR data in this paper. New algorithms of two wavelet transforms including Daubechies wavelet transform as a discrete and orthogonal wavelet transform (DWT) and Morlet wavelet transform as a continuous and nonorthogonal wavelet transform(CWT) were developed fer noise elimination. DWT and CWT method were successfully applied to the noise reduction in spectrum. The inevitable distortion of NMR spectral baseline and the imperfection in noise elimination were observed in DWT method while CWT method gives a better baseline ahape and a well noise suppressed spectrum.

  • In the industrial motor drive system which is composed of a motor and load connected with a flexible shaft, a torsional vibration is often generated because of the elastic elements in torque transmission. To solve this problem, the two-degrees-of-freedom $H_{\infty}$ controller was designed. But it is difficult to realize that controller. In this paper, a new partial state feedback $H_{\infty}$ controller with resonance ratio control is proposed. Proposed controller has simple structure but satisfies the attenuation of disturbances and vibrations.

  • This paper presents passive vibration control method to suppress train-induced vibration on a long-span steel arch bridge. According to the train load frequency analysis, undesirable resonance of a bridge will occur when the impact frequency of the train axles are close to the modal frequencies of the bridge. Because the first mode shape of the long-span steel arch bridge may take anti-symmetric shape along the bridge direction, however, the optimal control configuration for resonance suppression should be considered carefully In this study, bridge-vehicle element is used to estimate the bridge-train interaction precisely. From the numerical simulation of a loom steel arch bridge under TGV-K train loading, dynamic magnification influences are evaluated according to vehicle moving speed and efficient control system with passive dampers are presented in order to diminish the vertical displacement and vertical acceleration.

  • In this study, the underwater acoustic images were obtained by ultrasonicwave. The experiment was performed in the anechoic watertank, using a passive sonar array for one and two sound source respectively by X-Y scanning technique. The receiving array was consist of 8 disc type transducers with 1.5cm diameter at 25KHz resonance frequency. The scanned data were processed by the FORTRAN IV algorithm for the reconstruction of image, and the image had some noise due to the surface reflected waves. As the result, it was found that the acoustic imaging by electrical deflection and dynamic focusing technique is applicable to SONAR with the suppression of surface reflected wave.

  • Leakage phenomena of flip-chip structures on common GaAs and alumina main substrates are characterized using the spectral domain approach to reduce the possible chip-to-chip crosstald and transmission resonance. We have found taht the longitudinal section magnetic mode is dominant for the coplanar waveguide leakage andthe leakage can be suppreassed by properly managing the gap height and the main substrate thickness in addition to the dielectric constant. These calculation results will be helpful for designing and flip-chip packagaing of high-frequency integrated circuits.

  • Multiple parallel inverters have multiple resonant frequencies that are influenced by many factors. This often results in stability and power quality problems. This paper develops a multiple input multiple output model of grid-connected inverter systems using a closed-loop transfer function. The influence factors of the resonant characteristics are analyzed with the developed model. The analysis results show that the resonant frequency is closely related to the number, type and composition ratio of the parallel inverters. To suppress resonance, a scheme based on virtual impedance is presented, where the virtual impedance is emulated in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. The proposed scheme needs one inverter with virtual impedance control, which reduces the design complexity of the other inverter controllers. Simulation and experimental tests are carried out on two single phase converter-based setups. The results validate the correctness of the model, the analytical results and the resonant suppressing scheme.

  • High performance packages must protect circuits from the internal leakaged-electromagnetic fields as well as the surrounding. In this paper, we characterized an electromagnetically-shielded millimeter-wave ceramic package from 20 to 40 ㎓ using FEM(Finite Element Method). From these calculation results, the parasitic resonance is observed at 33.4 ㎓. We use metal-filled via-holes at the ceramic package walls and resonance has been suppressed in a frequency range from 20 to 40 ㎓. These calculation results will be helpful for MMIC packaging using electromagnetically-shielded millimeter-wave ceramic packages.

  • Short inversion time inversion recovery (STIR) is widely used for spinal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) because the pulse sequence of STIR is insensitive to magnetic field inhomogeneity and can be used to scan a large field of view. In this case report, we present a case of spinal epidural hematoma with unexpected signal decrease on a STIR image. The MRI showed an epidural mass that appeared with high signal intensity on both T1- and T2-weighted images. However, a signal decrease was encountered on the STIR image. This nonspecific decrease of signal in tissue with a short T1 relaxation time that is similar to that of fat (i.e., hemorrhage) could lead to a diagnostic pitfall; one could falsely diagnose this decrease of signal as fat instead of hemorrhage. Awareness of the nonselective signal suppression achieved with STIR pulse sequences may avert an erroneous diagnosis in image interpretation.

  • Magnetic resonance neurography (MRN) is increasingly used to visualize peripheral nerves in vivo. However, the implementation and interpretation of MRN in the brachial and lumbosacral plexi are challenging because of the anatomical complexity and technical limitations. The purpose of this article was to review the clinical context of MRN, describe advanced magnetic resonance (MR) techniques for plexus imaging, and list the general categories of utility of MRN with pertinent imaging examples. The selection and optimization of MR sequences are centered on the homogeneous suppression of fat and blood vessels while enhancing the visibility of the plexus and its branches. Standard 2D fast spin-echo sequences are essential to assess morphology and signal intensity of nerves. Moreover, nerve-selective 3D isotropic images allow improved visualization of nerves and multiplanar reconstruction along their course. Diffusion-weighted and diffusion-tensor images offer microscopic and functional insights into peripheral nerves. The interpretation of MRN in the brachial and lumbosacral plexi should be based on a thorough understanding of their anatomy and pathophysiology. Anatomical landmarks assist in identifying brachial and lumbosacral plexus components of interest. Thus, understanding the varying patterns of nerve abnormalities facilitates the interpretation of aberrant findings.
