In recent times, there is an increasing interest in wireless charge of smartphones and devices, and many companies are developing wireless charges. The range of application of wireless charge would be expanded to almost all electronics, including not only mobile devices, but also notebook computers and vacuum cleaners. On-line electric vehicles are to be launched in the market this year in a massive scale. As such wireless charge-related markets are inexhaustible. Wireless charge is included in the world's top 10 promising technologies, and its rapid growth is expected to have annual growth by more than 100%. However, there's a need to establish a safe environment, by analyzing security threats to technical limitations and harmfulness to human body, and arrange institutional compliments. The development of communication method for a variety of wireless charging are delivering comfortable and safe information. This paper aims to examine the factors to threaten electric vehicle, which are usually intruded through network system and analyzes security threats to and security requirements for magnetic resonance mode-based wireless charge in mobile devices, and suggests security requirements.

We have investigated the optical properties of plamonic waveguide with tapered structure based on InP material for photonic integrated circuit(PIC). The proposed plasmonic waveguide is covered with the Ag thin film to generate the plasmonic wave on metallic interface. The optical characteristics of plasmonic waveguide were calculated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method. The plasmonic waveguide was fabricated with the lengths of 2 to $10{\mu}m$ and the widths of 400 to 700 nm, respectively. The plasmonic mode and optical loss were measured. The optimum plasmonic length is $10{\mu}m$ and widths are 600 and 700 nm in the fabricated waveguide. This plasmonic waveguide can be directly integrated with other conventional optical devices and can be essential building blocks of PIC.

Filiform hairs that respond to movements of the surrounding medium are the mechanoreceptors commonly found in arthropods and vertebrates. The hairs function as a sensory system for perceiving information produced by prey, predators, or conspecifics. A mathematical model is proposed, and the parametric analyses for the response of artificial filiform hair are conducted to design and predict the performance of a microfabricated device. The results for the Cytop hair, one of the most popular polymer optical fibers (POFs), show that the fundamental mode has a dominant effect on the hair behavior in an oscillating medium flow. The dynamic behavior of sensory hair is also dependent on the physical dimensions such as length and diameter. It is found that the artificial hair with a high elastic modulus does not show a resonance in the biologically important frequency range.

This paper presents the effect of driving waveform for piezoelectric bend mode inkjet printhead with optimized mechanical design. Experimental and theoretical studies on the applied driving waveform versus jetting characteristic s were performed. The inkjet head has been designed to maximize the droplet velocity, minimize voltage response of the actuator and optimize the firing frequency to eject ink droplet. The head design was carried out by using mechanical simulation. The printhead has been fabricated with Si(100) and SOI wafers by MEMS process and silicon direct bonding method. To investigate how performance of the piezoelectric ceramic actuator influences on droplet diameter and droplet velocity, the method of stroboscopy was used. Also we observed the movement characteristics of PZT actuator with LDV(Laser Doppler Vibrometer) system, oscilloscope and dynamic signal analyzer. Missing nozzles caused by bubbles in chamber were monitored by their resonance frequency. Using the water based ink of viscosity of 4.8 cps and surface tension of 0.025N/m, it is possible to eject stable droplets up to 20kHz, 4.4m/s and above 8pL at the different applied driving waveforms.

As the demand for slim laptops requires low-height optical disc drives, vibration problems of optical disc drives are of great concern. Additionally, with the decrease of a track width and a depth of focus in high density drives, studies on vibration resonance between mechanical parts become more important. From the vibration point of view, the performance of optical disc drives is closely related with the relative displacement between a disc and an objective lens which is controlled by servo mechanism. In other words, to read and write data properly, the relative displacement between an optical disc and an objective lens should be within a certain limit. The relative displacement is dependent on not only an anti-vibration mechanism design but also servo control capability. Good servo controls can make compensation for poor mechanisms, and vice versa. In a usual development process, robustness of the anti-vibration mechanism is always verified with the servo control of an objective lens. Engineers partially modify servo gain margin in case of a data reading error. This modification cannot correct the data reading error occasionally and the mechanism should be redesigned more robustly. Therefore it is necessary to verify a mechanism with respect to the possible servo gain plot. In this study we propose the experimental verification method for anti-vibration mechanism with respect to the existing servo gain plot. Thismethod verifies axial vibration characteristics of optical disc drives on the basis of transmissibility. Using this method, we verified our mechanism and modified the mechanism for better anti-vibration characteristics.
Although the aircraft industry was the first to use fibre composites, now they are increasingly used in a range of structural applications such as flooring, decking, platforms and roofs. Interlayer delamination is a major failure mode which threatens the reliability of composite structures. Delamination can grow in size under increasing loads with time and hence leads to severe loss of structural integrity and stiffness reduction. Delamination reduces the natural frequency and as a consequence may result in resonance. Hence, the study of the effects of delamination on the free vibration behaviour of multilayer composite structures is imperative. The focus of this paper is to develop a 3D FE model and investigate the free vibration behaviour of fibre composite multilayer sandwich panels with interlayer delaminations. A series of parametric studies are conducted to assess the influence of various parameters of concern, using a commercially available finite element package. Additionally, selected points in the delaminated region are connected appropriately to simulate bolting as a remedial measure to fasten the delamination region in the aim of reducing the effects of delamination. First order shear deformation theory based plate elements have been used to model each sandwich layer. The findings suggest that the delamination size and the end fixity of the plate are the most important factors responsible for stiffness reduction due to delamination damage in composite laminates. It is also revealed that bolting the delaminated region can significantly reduce the natural frequency variation due to delamination thereby improving the dynamic performance.
In this paper, we have presented mechanically formed long-period fiber gratings using periodically arrayed brass wires with a $250-{\mu}m$ diameter and realized the function of current-controlled wavelength-tuning. With the thermo-optic effect of the surrounding medium around the fiber cladding, the continuous displacement of the resonance wavelengths is achieved through the resistant heat of the wire which changes the refractive index of surrounding material. The tunability for each mode as a function of an applied electrical power is investigated. When the glycerin is used as a thermo-optic material, the measured tuning ranges of $LP_{03}$ and $LP_{04}$ within electrical power of 20 W reach to 14 nm and 48 nm, respectively. The experimental results are in good agreement with the theoretical that which is analyzed by a geometric-optics approximation.
In this study, closely spaced Au nanoparticles which are arranged in nanocluster (heptamer) configurations have been employed to design efficient plasmonic subwavelength devices to function at the telecommunication spectrum (${\lambda}$~1550 nm). Utilizing two kinds of nanoparticles, the optical properties of heptamer clusters composed of Au rod and shell particles that are oriented in triphenylene molecular fashion have been investigated numerically, and the cross-sectional profiles of the scattering and absorption of the optical power have been calculated based on a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Plasmon hybridization theory has been utilized as a theoretical approach to characterize the features and properties of the adjacent and mutual heptamer clusters. Using these given nanostructures, we designed a complex four-branch ($1{\times}4$) Y-shape splitter that is able to work at the near infrared region (NIR). This splitter divides and transmits the magnetic plasmon mode along the mutual heptamers arrays. Besides, as an important and crucial parameter, we studied the impact of arm spacing (offset distance) on the guiding and dividing of the magnetic plasmon resonance propagation and by calculating the ratio of transported power in both nanorod and nanoshell-based structures. Finally, we have presented the optimal structure, that is the four-branch Y-splitter based on shell heptamers which yields the power ratio of 23.9% at each branch, 4.4 ${\mu}m$ decaying length, and 1450 nm offset distance. These results pave the way toward the use of nanoparticles clusters in molecular fashions in designing various efficient devices that are able to be efficient at NIR.
In this paper, the characteristics of receiving voltage sensitivity about acoustic package in towed array sonar is analyzed through the numerical simulation and design of experiments. Simulation results show that the variation of receiving voltage sensitivity is caused by the structural resonance mode shape on baseline acoustic package. The effect of design parameters of the acoustic package are analyzed through the design of experiments to reduce the deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity. A change of hydrophone shield can thickness (t) is the greatest effect on the deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity. As a result of water tank test, the acoustic package derived from the design of experiments has reduced deviation of receiving voltage sensitivity.
