  • In this paper, we theoretically analyzed the self-alignment/navigation performance in the accelerometer resonance state generated by dither motion of ring laser gyroscope in LINS and verified it through simulation. As a result of analysis, it is confirmed that the amplitude of the accelerometer measurement amplified in the accelerometer resonance state is decreased in the process of sampling per the navigation calculation period and that frequency is changed by the aliasing effect too. It was also analysed that the attitude error in self-alignment is determined by the amplitude/frequency of the accelerometer measurement, the gain of the self-alignment loop, and the velocity and position error in the navigation is determined by the amplitude/frequency/phase error of the accelerometer measurement. This analysis and simulation results show that the self-alignment and navigation performance is not be degraded only when the amplification factor of the accelerometer measurement in the accelerometer resonance state is 3 or less

  • Pressure resonance frequency that is caused in the combustion chamber can be interpreted by acoustic analysis. Until now the pressure resonance has been assumed and calculated to a disc type combustion chamber that neglected the combustion chamber height because the knock occurs near the TDC(top dead center). In this research FEM(finite element method) has been used to calculate the pressure resonance frequency inside the experimental engine combustion. The error of the resonance frequency obtained by FEM has decreased about 50% compared to the calculation of Draper's equation. Due to the asymmetry in the shape of the combustion chamber that was neglected in Draper's equation we could find out that a new resonance frequency could be generated. To match the experimental results, the speed of sound that satisfies Draper's equation is selected 13% higher than the value for pent-roof type combustion chamber.

  • Korean bell is hung with some air gap between the bell bottom and the ground. In addition, it has a peculiar acoustic element, so called resonance cavity below the bell. A proper design of the air gap and cavity size dramatically amplifies the bell sound by resonance effect. Bell interior cavity, air gap and resonance cavity consist of an acoustic cavity system. When the acoustic cavity frequency coincides with the natural frequency of the bell body, the frequency component is significantly amplified. On the Sacred Bell of the Great King Seongdeok, this study proposes a resonance condition of the cavity system considering air gap effect for the first time. With the exact dimension of the bell, boundary element analysis is performed using SYSNOISE. Finally, this study reveals how the temperature in season influences the resonance condition and proposes a concept of variable type resonance cavity. By using the variable type resonance cavity, the cavity size is controlled on site and exact resonance is available regardless of temperature difference in season.

  • Power capacitors is widely used for power factor correction and component of passive filter in the user power systems. Recently, application of non-linear load is gradually increased. Non-linear load produces harmonic components of current. There are series resonance and parallel resonance when capacitors are applied in the user electrical application. If this harmonic component matches resonance, voltage and current is magnified and has severely an influences on capacitor. This paper purposes a new method for the magnitude of voltage and current by the frequency scan analysis without equivalent circuit for the actual circuit at the resonance condition.

  • In the present study, structure analysis has been performed to understand the deflection and stress distribution for a hybrid street-lamp having a vertical-axis wind turbine and a photovoltaic panel. Modal analysis is also evaluated to avoid resonance gerenerated by sychronism between a turbine and a lamppost. To analyze deflection, stress and frequency, general analysis code(ANSYS-Mechanical 13) is employed in the present work. Throughout structure analysis in the hybrid street-lamp, maximum stress is observed at the connecting position between a turbine blade and a blade supporter. Campbell diagram which is combined the natural frequency of turbine blades and blade passing frequency is presented to analyze a system resonance. It is found that the resonance of the system having a rotating turbine blade and a lamppost can avoid by the optimal selection of geometric parameters of a wind turbine.

  • In this paper, an oil hydraulic pipeline is terminated by both rotary sinusoidal flow generator at upstream oriffice at down stream. The pulsating pressure wave from generated by the rotary sinusoidal flow generator, is measured by using sensor. In the analysis of this paper, a component of the fundamental frequency is obtained by using Laplace transformation.. The experimental and analytical results make clear that (1) viscosity is significant role in hydraulic pipe. (2) When pulsating frequency is matched with the natural frequency, resonance frequency occured periodically. According to the study proposed here, dynamic pressure in a circular oil pipe is expressed in propagation of pressure wave with respect to frequency and Bessel function. The resonance at oil temperature $20^{\circ}$$0^{\circ}C$ in this study. The abrupt change of gain value is due to effect of resonance frequency. The results of experiment are compared with the calculated results, and agreement of both results is fairly good.

  • Shock and vibration inputs are transmitted from the transporting vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. The vibration causes sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and the container wall. The steady state vibration input may cause serous fruit injury, and the damage is particularly severe if the fruits are bounced at its resonance frequency. The determination of the resonance frequencies of the fruits and vegetables may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruits, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of the fruits when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. To analyze the vibration properties of the watermelon for optimum packaging design during transportation, sinusoidal sweep vibration tests were carried out. The resonance frequency of the watermelon ranged from 19 to 32 Hz and the amplitude at resonance was between 1.6 and 2.9 G. The resonance frequency and amplitude at resonance frequency band of the watermelon decreased with the increase of the sample mass. The multiple nonlinear regression equation for predicting the resonance frequency of the watermelon were developed using the independent variables such as mass, input acceleration and sphericity.

  • Vibrations of the tower structures of 750kW and 6kW wind turbines(WT) are investigated by measurement and analysis. Acceleration responses of the WT towers under various operation condition are monitored in real time by the remote monitoring system using LabVIEW. Using the monitoring system, resonance condition of the tower structures is diagnosed with the wind speed data within the operating speed range. To predict the tower resonance frequency, 750 kW tower is modeled as an equivalent beam with a lumped mass and Rayleigh energy method is applied. For 6 kW WT, Rayleigh-Ritz analysis is carried out on the tower-cable coupled system. Calculated tower bending frequency is in good agreement with the measured value. Using the analysis model, parametric study is available in order to prevent the severe resonance.

  • The ultrasonic resonance method was applied to detect the disbond interface and empty layer between steel and FRP of the exit cone. The ultrasonic resonance method can easily detect the disbond interface and empty layer by amplifying the ultrasonic signal, but pulse echo method is difficult to distinguish adhesive interface from disbond interface or empty layer. The resonance frequency was predicted using the pressure reflection coefficient of 3-layered medium, and measured from ultrasonic signal of the test block using Fast Fourier Transform. The ultrasonic resonance proved that the predicted resonance frequency was in good agreement with the measured resonance frequency.

  • This paper is concerned with the numerical study on the resonance response of a rigid spar-type floating platform in coupled heave and pitch motion. Spar-type floating platforms, widely used for supporting the offshore structures, offer an economic advantage but those exhibit the dynamically high sensitivity to external excitations due to their shape at the same time. Hence, the investigation of their dynamic responses, particularly at resonance, is prerequisite for the design of spar-type floating platforms which secure the dynamic stability. Spar-type floating platform in 2-D surface wave is assumed to be a rigid body having 2-DOFs, and its coupled dynamic equations are analytically derived using the geometric and kinematic relations. The motion-variance of the metacentric height and the moment of inertia of floating platform are taken into consideration, and the hydrodynamic interaction between the wave and platform motions is reflected into the hydrodynamic force and moment and the frequency-dependent added masses. The coupled nonlinear equations governing the heave and pitch motions are solved by the RK4 method, and the frequency responses are obtained by the digital Fourier transform. Through the numerical experiments to the wave frequency, the resonance responses and the coupling in resonance between heave and pitch motions are investigated in time and frequency domains.
