While the water-filling algorithm is an efficient power allocation method that maximizes the ergodic capacity of adaptive MIMO systems, its excessive residual power causes spectrum loss in real systems employing discrete modulation indices. In this paper we propose new power allocation algorithms that improve the spectral efficiency of MIMO systems by efficiently reallocating the residual power of the water-filling algorithm. We apply the proposed algorithms to the adaptive turbo-coded MIMO system to verify their performance through computer simulation in various environments. Simulation results show that the spectral efficiency of the proposed algorithms is better than that of the water-filling algorithm by about 8.9% at SNR of 20dB in Rayleigh fading environments.
Proper water management is vital to achieve high performance and durability of PEFC (Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell). The effects of the residual water from PEFC after purge in shut-down processes on GDL/MEAs were investigated with freeze/thaw cycles Freeze/thaw cycle tests were conducted with single cells which were designed from transparent acryl plates. Single cells which contain several amount of residual water were cycles from $80^{\circ}C$ to $-28^{\circ}C$. The resistance changes of the single cells which have various amount of residual water were evaluated by ac-impedance analysis with 24 times of freeze/thaw cycles. Also, after the freeze/thaw cycles, the property changes were characterized by visual methods such as SEM, EPMA. Though it was difficult to observe noticeable property changes in the visual characterizations, the resistance of cells dramatically increased with the amount of remained water.

The paper investigates the previous studies about welding residual stresses in nuclear components. First, various residual stress measurement methods are reviewed in applicability. Second a finite element welding residual stress analysis technique, which was developed from the viewpoint of FFS (Fitness-For-Service) assessment, is explained. Third, characteristics of the welding residual stresses on J-groove welds and butt welds were presented via investigating the previous studies. Last, engineering formulae for residual stresses in the FFS assessment codes such as R6 and API 579/ASME FFS-1 Code is summarized.
Evaluation of fracture toughness of welded structures has a significant influence on the structural design. However the residual stresses is redistributed while the welded structures is cut for preparing specimens. This study investigated an effect of the welding residual stress redistribution on the impact absorption energy of Charpy specimen. SA516Gr70 steel plate by at the flux cored arc welding (FCAW) and gas tungsten arc welding(GTAW) was cutting. Specimens for Charpy impact testing were taken from the welded plate. Two material removal mechanisms (wire cutting and water jet) were used to make the specimens. Welding residual stress and redistribution residual stress were measured using the XRD (X-Ray Diffraction) method. The amount of redistribution of residual stress depends on the different material removal mechanism. Redistribution of residual stress of reduced the impact absorption energy by 15%.
This thesis is an experimental research of shear behavioral characteristics and shear behavioral coefficient of weathered residual soil which is mostly contained in soil of Korea. Using the weathered residual soil from mountain near Kangwon National University, this experimental research were contained the physical properties of sample in term of the basic test method such as specific gravity, plastic and liquid limit, grain-size distribution, density and water content. Experimental results obtained from direct shear test sand triaxial compression tests show that according to step loading, linear strain and linear stress increase continually and angle of internal friction decreases just little according to incresing of water content in case of ignoring the cohesion, and angle of internal friction appears the maximum angle near a optimum moisture content in case of considering the cohesion.
In case of large steel water pipe, it have been observed that its fracture mostly occurs due to the complicated outside fatigue load on the pipe in the underground. It is also well known that its damage and leakage happen mainly in a weld zone. In this study we evaluated the fatigue characteristics based on size effect and residual stress by comparing the test results on the standard specimen collected from real pipe with those on full scale pipe.

This paper presents the stress-strain , volumetric strain characteristics of the Pocheon weathered residual granite soil with variation of the initial water content under drained conditions. A series of consolidated drained triaxial compressiion tests and isotrpc compression tests with various initial water content on specimens were performed. All material parameters of Lade's double work hardening model were determined by using the results of tests. Most aspects of the soil behavior measured in the triaxial compression tests were reproduced with good accuracy by the constitutive model . Therefore double work hardening model has been shown to be applicable to weathered residual granite soil.
Although the removal efficiency of residual pesticides using tap water were ranged from -1.25 to $13.27\%$, the removal efficiencies of residual pesticides using both powder CaO and liquid CaO were $5.16\~l7.61,\;8.7\~41.59\%$, respectively. And those results showed much higher residual effect of the CaO washing than tap water washing. Natural CaO made by burning of scallop-shell considered to be a good reducing agent for pesticides. Furthermore, liquid CaO showed much higher removal efficiency than powder CaO. However, powder CaO also can be used as a good natural eliminator of pesticides in Mini-Tomato.
The conventional methods for total residual chlorine such as iodometry and DPD colorimetric can cause secondary pollution due to additional agents, also have a wide error range. As for alternative, electrochemical method can measure TRC(Total residual chlorine), and is not required as additional agents, also very suitable for using the fields of ballast water because test time is relatively fast. Therefore, this study was investigated for changing charge by agitation, salt concentration, and temperature change. Charge showed differences based on changes of reduction peak with or without agitation. In contrast, TRC and charge were well correlated in constant agitation speed. As TRC and charge were analyzed with high correlations in constant salinity and temperature of ocean, thereby conductivity was firstly measured, and charge had high correlation for TRC in spite of changing salinity and temperature Pt electrode revealed high reliability ($r^2=0.960$) because it was rarely effected by TRC, On the other hand, Au electrode appeared inadequate ($r^2=0.767$) to use sensor in less than 1.0 ppm of TRC. For high accuracy and detection of TRC, Pt and Au electrodes for test time were, respectively, 14 and 22 seconds. As a result, Pt electrode was more valuable than Au electrode in terms of response time.
Biological ammonia removal system have been used conventionally for the seawater fish farming. But this process requires long hydraulic retention times and large area. Also it has a trouble of NO3-N accumulation in the system. Therefore, this study was conducted to find out the feasibility of effective nitrogen removal efficiency in the sea water fish farming system by electolysis. As the result, electrolysis system showed a good ammonia and nitrate nitrogen removal and E. coli sterilization efficiencies. Because of the high salinities in the seawater for electron transfer, electrolysis is an effictive water treatment process for seawater fish farming. The relation among ammonia removal efficiency, hydraulic retention time (HRT) and electric wattage (watt) with 10 mm electrod distance isas follow ; log [$NH_4^$+-N(%)]=0.431log(HRT(sec)$\times$Watt)+0.88(r=0.950) And the relation between ammonia removal efficiency and residual chlorine concentration in the seawater is as follow; $$NH_4^+-N(%)=48\cdotlog[Residual\;chlorine(mg/\ell)+28(r=0.892)$$
