This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, CMA and MMA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel at receiver.. We confirmed the application possibilities of the point to point or point to multipoint digital transmission technologies by analyzing the performance of MMA which is changing the error function of CMA that is the possible algorithm of fast equalization by relatively simple arithmatic computation compared to the other method. In CMA algorithm, we need the PLL for the amplitude compensation only and not possible to phase compensation inherently. But in MMA algorithm, we confired that the amplitude and phase of received signal can be compensated by computer simulation. For the comparison of algorithm, we used the essential performance index, convergence characteristics and residual isi. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA has good in convergence characteristic and the CMA has good in residual isi that is used for the amplitude compensation.

In this paper, we propose MSAG-SCS-MMA-I adaptive blind equalization with double step size with very small residual ISI and MSE at steady-state while significantly improving the convergence speed of the traditional SCS-MMA-I algorithm in 256-QAM system. And we evaluate the equalization performance for this algorithm. Different step sizes according to the absolute value of decision-directed error instead of a fixed step-size are applied to the tap update equation of MSAG-SCS-MMA-I, which is controlled by binary flags of '1' or '0' obtained from SCS-MMA-I and decision-directed algorithms. This makes for excellent equalization performance. As a result of computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed algorithm has more better performance than the MMA, SCS-MMA-I, and MSAG-SCS-MMA-I algorithms in terms of the performance index such as residual ISI, MSE, and MD.

This paper compare the adaptive equalization performance of NM-MMA (Novel Mixed-MMA) algorithm which using the mixed const function by scaling factor values. The mixed cost function of NM-MMA composed of the appropriate weighted addition of gradient vector in the MMA and SE-MMA cost function, and updating the tap coefficient based on these function, it is possible to improve the convergence speed and MSE value of current algorithm. The computer simulation was performed in the same channel, step size, SNR environment by changing the scaling factor, and its performance were compared appling the equalizer output constellation, residual isi, MD, MSE, SER. As a result of computer simulation, the residual values of performance index were reduced in case of the scaling factor of MMA cost function was greater than the scaling factor of SE-MMA. and the convergence speed was improved in case of the scaling factor of SE-MMA was greater than the MMA.

This paper compare the performance of CM-MMA (Constellation Matching-MMA) and RMMA (Region-based MMA) blind equalization algorithm for improve the QoS by minimizing the intersymbol interference that is occurred in nonlinear communication channel when transmitting the QAM signal. In the tap coefficient update for adaptive, CM-MMA use the error of nonconstant modulus signal adding the current MMA cost fuction and constellation matching error terms of sinusoidal power function, and the RMMA use the error by transfoms the nonconstant modulus signal of equalizer output constellation to 4-QAM constant modulus signal. They has different equalization performance by these error signal, it were compared in this paper by simulation, and performance index such as output signal constellation of equalizer, residual isi, maximum distortion, SER curves are applied for this. As a result of computer simulation, the RMMA has more better performance in the every performance index, convergence speed, residual value, noise robustness compared to CM-MMA.

This paper relates with the Hybrid-SE-MMA (Signed-Error MMA) that is possible to improving the equalization performance by using the adaptive modulus and adaptive step size in SE-MMA adaptive equalizer for the minimizing the intersymbol interference. The equalizer tap coefficient is updatted use the error signal in MMA algorithm for adaptive equalizer. But the sign of error signal is used for the simplification of arithmetic operation in SE-MMA algorithm in order to updating the coefficient. By this simplification, we get the fast convergence speed and the reduce the algorithm processing speed, but not in the equalization performance. In this paper, it is possible to improve the equalization performance by computer simulation applying the adaptive modulus to the SE-MMA which is proposional to the power of equalizer output signal. In order to compare the improved equalization performance compared to the present SE-MMA, the recovered signal constellation that is the output of the equalizer, residual isi, MD(maximum distortion), MSE and the SER perfomance that means the robustness to the external noise were used. As a result of computer simulation, the Hybrid-SE-MMA improve equalization performance in the residual isi and MD, MSE, SER than the SE-MMA.

This paper deals with the mMMA (modified MMA) which possible to improving the convergence speed that employing the serial connecting form of two stage digital filter instead of signal filter of MMA adaptive equalizer without applying the variable step size for compensates the intersymbol interference by channel distortion in the nonconstant modulus signal. The adaptive equalizer can be implemented by signal digital filter using the finite order tap delay line. In this paper, the equalizer is implemented by the two stage serial form and the filter coefficient are updated by the error signal using the same algorithm of MMA in each stage. The fast convergence speed is determined in the first stage, and the residual isi left at the output of first stage output is minimized in the second stage filter. The same digital filter length was considered in single stage and two stage system and the performance of these systems were compared. The performance index includes the output signal constellation, the residual isi and maximum distortion, MSE that is measure of the convergence characteristics, the SER. As a result of computer simulation, mMMA that has a FIR structure of two stage, has more good performance in every performance index except the constellation diagram due to equalization noise and improves the convergence speed about 1.5~1.8 time than the present MMA that has a FIR structure of single stage.

This paper proposes the SU-SE-MMA algorithm which applying the concept of selective updaing to the SE-MMA that is possible to reduce the intersymbol interference due to distortion occurred at the channel when transmit the nonconstant modulus 16-QAM signal. The SE-MMA emerged for the simplifying the computational operation from the current MMA adaptation algorithm, then it's has the fast convergence speed and has a problem of increase the residual component in the steady state. The SU-SE-MMA performs the selectively tap updating when the distance of equalizer output and specified transmit signal point is greater than the given threshold value and tap updaing does not occurred in the small distance. By this selective updating process, it is possible to more reduction in the computational operation in the propose algorithm. The improved adaptive equalization performance of SU-SE-MMA like as the equalizer output signal constellation, residual isi, MD, SER were confirmed by computer simulation compared to SE-MMA. As a result of simulation, the AV-SE-MMA has better performance in output signal constellation, residual isi and MD compared to the SE-MMA, but it was confirmed that the AV-SE-MMA has similar in the SER performance that means the robustness to the noise.

For intersymbol interference (ISI) compensation from communication channels with multi-path fading and impulsive noise, a decision feedback equalizer algorithm that minimizes Euclidean distance of error probability is proposed. The Euclidean distance of error probability is defined as the quadratic distance between the probability error signal and Dirac-delta function. By minimizing the distance with respect to equalizer weight based on decision feedback structures, the proposed decision feedback algorithm has shown to have significant effect of residual ISI cancellation on severe multipath channels as well as robustness against impulsive noise.

In order to provide high data rate and real time services under maritime environment, link-level performance of ship ad-hoc network (SANET) based on 3GPP LTE and IEEE 802.11p (WAVE) specifications are investigated and discussed in this paper. The measured maritime channel, whose delay spread is longer than the length of guard interval (GI) of both 3GPP LTE and IEEE 802.11p specifications, is adopted for the link-level simulations. For the purpose of eliminating inter-symbol interference (ISI) due to insufficient GI length, double antenna pattern (DAP) scheme and advanced time-domain decision-feedback equalizer (DFE) are proposed for LTE and WAVE systems, respectively. The proposed DFE removes the ISI in a same manner as the residual inter-symbol interference cancellation (RISIC) algorithm, but the inter-carrier interference (ICI) is reduced via cyclicity removal instead of cyclicity restoration used in the RISIC algorithm. Compared with existing schemes, our proposed DFE is a robust technique to overcome the severe ISI channel which has a comparatively large delay spread. Based on simulation results, not only comparisons between systems are discussed, but also some reformative suggestions are given.

This paper deals with the performance comparison of adaptive equalization algorithm, MMA and SCA, that is used for the minimization of the distortion and noise effect in the communication channel.. The transmitting signal will be distorted and received due to the nonlinearties of magnitude and phase transfer characteristics of communication channel, the compensation of it by using the self adaptive equalizer. The constant modulus has important metric in the self adaptive equalizer, the MMA uses the 2nd and 4th high order statistics of transmitting signal, the SCA uses the 2nd order statistics of transmitting signal only in order to the calculation of it. We compared to the compensation performance of the MMA and SCA by the computer simulation that are possible to the compensation of the two kinds of transfer characteristics at same times by the relatively simple arithmatic operation. We used to the recovered constellation, residual isi and MSE, SER that are the essential index for the comparison of the adaptive equalizer. The result of performance comparison of algorithms, the MMA which uses the high order statistics of transmitting signal has good performance in the MSE and SER compared to the SCA which is using the low order statistics. But in the recovered costellation and residual isi, the SCA has a good than the MMA.
