대공간 화재시 배연효율 정의에 관한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on the Definition of the Exhaust Effectiveness of Smoke under Fire in a Large Space)

  • This paper investigates the exhaust effectiveness of smoke, in the case of fire in a large atrium space. Numerical analysis was conducted to simulate transient fire growth in a test room, modeled by the Murcia atrium fire test. Various indices representing the exhaust performance of the exhaust system were obtained, such as the height of the smoke layer, and the instantaneous and accumulative capture efficiency of the smoke. The residual life time of smoke from the fire was also obtained, by injecting tracer gases at the fire location, depending on the airflow rate, and the location of the exhausts. The capture efficiency based on smoke concentration at the exhausts exhibits how much smoke can be removed by the exhaust system; whereas, the exhaust effectiveness based on residual life time indicates how rapidly the smoke can reach the exhaust locations, before being exhausted. The definitions and meanings of the indices to be used in representing the exhaust performance of a smoke exhaust system installed in a large space are discussed.

  • The relative focus about phosphorus (P) which causes eutrophication characterized by increased growth of undesirable algae has increased in recent years. Phosphorus forms in soil and water include both organic and inorganic forms. There are also a large number of soil P determination methods that have been designed to account for various types of P and mechanisms controlling the chemistry of P in soil, water, and residual materials for environmentally relevant forms of P. However, phosphorus forms in soil, water, and residual materials are also difficult to standardize with any reasonable consensus, due to the number of different disciplines involved. Hence, it is essential to accurately define how P can be measured in soil, water, or residual material samples to avoid potential misinterpretations or inappropriate recommendations in determining amount and types of P. Therefore, we reviewed the testing methods which have appeared in the scientific literature to provide an overview of the soil test P most commonly used.

  • We present a new procedure to evaluate the residual life of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel by reversible magnetic permeability. The method is based on the existence of the first harmonics in the differential magnetization around the coercive force. The apparatus is based on the detection of the voltage induced in a coil using a lock-in amplifier tuned to a frequency of the exciting one. Results obtained for the first harmonics and Vickers hardness on the aged samples show that the peak interval of reversible permeability and Vickers hardness decrease as ageing time increases. The correlation between Vickers hardness and the peak interval of the reversible permeability could well be used to evaluate the residual life of 1Cr-1Mo-0.25V steel, nondestructively.

컴플라이언스법에 의한 다층 맞대기 이음의 잔류응력 추정 (Residual Stress Prediction in Multi-layer Butt Weld Using Crack Compliance Method)

  • It depends on the joint configuration, dimensions and constraints of the joint whether the residual stress at the root of single-sided butt weld is tensile or not. Therefore, recommendation is generally made that high R ratio should be used in the fatigue test of welded joint in order to prevent excessively long life caused by compressive residual stress. In this research, the residual stress profile in butt weld joint was obtained through compliance method, using successive extension of a slot and measurement of the variation of strain during the slot extension. The residual stress profile was firstly assumed to be the linear summation of Legendre polynomials up to 9th order excluding 0th and 1st order. Strain variation on the surface was measured while the slot was being extended by cutting to find out the 8 unknown coefficients of each polynomial term. The cut was made by the electric discharge machine. It was concluded that the residual stress near the surface is positive valued, however, it turned into the negative value as soon as it passed through 2 or 3 mm of the depth.

  • Mechanical structures with power sources experience repeated force produced by motors. In result, the life of the pipes reduces and ultimately, the pipes collapse. Such pipes are formed into several shapes and particularly, the U-shape pipe is damaged frequently. In most cases, the U-shape pipe is made with a straight pipe by complicated bending work. During this work process, plastic deformation of the pipe produces residual stress in the pipe. This residual stress significantly affects the fracture behavior of the pipe and induces the change of the stress ratio (min. stress/Max. stress = R). For this reason, residual stress has to be evaluated. In this paper, the residual stress of a U-shaped pipe was evaluated by FEM analysis. In addition, fatigue tests of the U-shaped pipe were performed by using a uniaxial fatigue testing machine. The results of the fatigue test were modified with the results of FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis for residual stress. The modified fatigue test results of the U-shaped pipe were compared with those of a straight pipe.

압축잔류응력이 스프링강의 고온환경 피로크랙 진전거동에 미치는 영향 (An Effect of Compressive Residual Stress on a High Temperature Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior of The Shot-peened Spring Steel)

  • The lightness of components required in automobile and machinery industry is requiring high strength of components. In particular, manufacturing process and new materials development for solving the fatigue fracture problem attendant upon high strength of suspension of automobile are actively advanced. In this paper, the effect of compressive residual stress of spring steel(JISG SUP-9) by shot-peening on fatigue crack growth characteristics in high temperatures($100^{\circ}C,\;150^{\circ}C,\;180^{\circ}C$) was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. So, we can obtain followings. (1) Compressive residual stress is decreased in high temperature, that is, with increasing temperature. (2) The effect of compressive residual stress on fatigue crack growth behavior in high temperature is increased below ${\Delta}K=17{\sim}19MPa\sqrt{m}$. The fatigue crack growth rate is increased with increasing temperature. The fatigue life is decreased with increasing temperature. (3) The dependence of temperature and compressive residual stress on the parameters C and m in Paris' law formed the formulas such as equations (3),(4),(5),(6),(7),(8),(9),(10). (4) It was investigated by SEM that the constraint of compress residual stress for plastic zone of fatigue crack tip was decreased in high temperature as compared with room temperature.

티타늄 합금의 레이저 용접 공정 시 잔류 응력 저감 방안에 대한 연구 (Study on a Residual Stress Reduce in Laser Welding Process using Ti6Al4V)

  • The experimental study has been performed through residual stress using the Ti6Al4V, investigate the effect of laser shock peening on laser welding process residual stress of Ti6Al4V welds in a reduce safety weld zone. This research evaluated the effects of shock waves from laser shock peening with a pulsed Nd:YAG laser on Ti6Al4V welding specimens, through the analysis of the residual stress of the specimens. The residual stress could be formed by the depth of 1 mm if the proposed method of reducing the residual stress is performed in the optimal condition. The welded structures and products during the production process increase the mechanical property of repeated stress, which could be expected to extend the fatigue life of the structure.

친환경 농자재 rotenone의 홍고추 중 잔류특성 및 가공계수 (Residual Characteristics and Processing Factors of Environment Friendly Agricultural Material Rotenone in Chilli Pepper)

  • 친환경 유기농자재 rotenone의 홍고추 중 잔류특성을 조사하고 가공계수를 산출하기 위하여 시험포장에 시험농자재를 7일 간격으로 2회 살포한 후 경시적으로 채취하여 잔류량을 분석하였다. 홍고추와 건고추 중 rotenone의 정량한계는 각각 0.03과 0.07 mg/kg이었으며, 분석법의 회수율은 각각 89.52-97.86%와 85.76-91.61%이었다. 잔류농약 분석 결과 홍고추 중 시험농자재의 잔류량은 0.03-0.39 mg/kg이었으며, 건고추의 경우 0.07-0.75 mg/kg으로 잔류량은 경시적으로 감소하였다. 건조에 의한 홍고추 중 rotenone의 가공계수는 2.03-3.13으로써 건조에 따라 잔류농도가 2-3배 증가하였다. 그러나 건조 전 홍고추 중 rotenone의 감소계수는 0.38-0.59로서 건조 전 홍고추 중 rotenone의 일부는 건조 과정 중 소실된 것으로 나타났다.

Some Results About $NBU_{mgf}$ Class of Life Distributions

  • A new class of life distributions is studied. This class is defined based on comparing the residual life to the whole life in the moment generating function order giving "the new better than used in the moment generating function order ageing class ($NBU_{mgf}$)". Some new results of this class are given including some closere properties and characterizations. Finally testing exponentially against the $NBU_{mgf}$ class is also addressed.

공압식 헤머피닝을 이용한 용접부 피로수명 연장기술 연구 (Research for Fatigue Life Extension Techniques in Weldments via Pneumatic Hammer Peening)

  • Fatigue failures are often occurred at welded joints where stress concentrations are relatively high due to the joint geometry. Although employing good detail design practices by upgrading the welded detail class enables to improve the fatigue performance, in many cases, the modification of the detail may not be practicable. As an alternative, the fatigue life extension techniques that reduce the severity of the stress concentration at the weld toe region, remove imperfections and introduce local compressive welding residual stress, have been applied. These techniques are also used as definite measures to extend the fatigue life of critical welds that have failed prematurely and have been repaired. In this study, a hammer peening procedure for using commercial pneumatic chipping hammer was developed, and the effectiveness is quantitatively evaluated. The pneumatic hammer peening makes it possible to give the weld not only a favorable shape reducing the local stress concentration, but also a beneficial compressive residual stress into material surface. In the fatigue life calculation of non-load carrying cruciform specimen treated by the pneumatic hammer peening, the life was lengthened about ten times at a stress range of 240MPa, and fatigue limit increased over 65% for the as-welded specimen.
