  • The opinionnaire was given to two groups; residents and public officials working at environmental administrative section. Based on the result of questionnaire, perceptional differences between these groups toward environmental NGOs were comparatively anaIyzed. The results were classified into following four items; Firstly, numbers of residents who recognize the existences of environmental NGOs in Kyonggi-Do were lower than those who didn't. Secondly, in both groups, more than 80% of respondents acknowledged that residents should be involved in decisions and developments of environmental projects. Thirdly, respondents belonging to both groups overwhelmingly selected the item "being improved" as the answer for the question asking whether NGOs' environmental activities contribute to improve of environmental conditions. This indicated that public officials also acknowledged the positive role of NGOs in environmental issues. Lastly, the answer of "intensive upbringing is necessary" was ranked as the first place for the question asking "necessity of raising environmental NGOs". However, it was hard to tell which opinion was superior in the matter of financial support necessity for NGOs judging from the answers by respondents of public officials.

From May to September 2018, the presentation and meetings for residents were held and a survey for 67 households were carried out in order to collect profit-sharing data which is sharing profits from solar power project improving residential environment. The results of the survey shows that it needs to improve some obstacles of residential environment in rural areas, such as improvement of living infrastructure at village level, improvement of monotonous leisure activities from the residents' point of view, improvement of economic income sources depending on farm income and Basic Old-age Pensions, inconvenience factors in the unsuitable residential environment due to aging. Based on these findings, this paper suggests that Profit-Sharing solar power complex project has possibilities to improve living environment in rural areas by sharing profits from power generation and residents participating in the project with consensus for need of renewable energy.

  • Purpose: Curricula for surgical residents should include training in trauma care; however, such training is absent in many low income countries. At the largest surgical training institution in Ethiopia, a trauma training program was developed, integrated into the existing surgical curriculum, and implemented. This study was conducted to evaluate the trainees' response to the new program. Methods: Over a 5-month period, 35 first-year surgical residents participated in weekly trauma care training sessions. The program included journal clubs, practical sessions, didactic sessions, and case-based discussions. Six months after the conclusion of the training, changes in knowledge, attitude, and practices were evaluated through a self-report survey. Results: For knowledge-based items, the survey data revealed reported improvements in 83.8% to 96.8% of students. Furthermore, 90.3% to 93.5% of participants indicated improvements in practice, while 96.7% exhibited a change in attitude. Respondents reported that attending didactic courses improved their presentation skills and facilitated the acquisition of knowledge. They suggested the inclusion of additional practical sessions. Conclusions: Training structures that are simple to implement are crucial for residency programs with limited resources. Such programs can be developed using existing academic staff and can aid residents in delivering improved care to trauma patients.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the educational needs of interns and residents in Korean medicine as the first step in developing an education program to improve their research competencies. Methods: A mixed-method design, incorporating both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, was used to investigate the educational needs for research competencies among interns and residents working in Korean medicine hospitals nationwide. Data were collected through online surveys and online focus group discussions (FGDs), and processed using descriptive statistical analysis and thematic analysis. The study results were derived by integrating survey data and FGD outcomes. Results: In total, 209 interns and residents participated in the survey, and 11 individuals participated in two rounds of FGDs. The majority of participants felt a lack of systematic education in research and academic writing in postgraduate medical education and highlighted the need for nationally accessible education due to significant disparities in the educational environment across hospitals and specialties. The primary barrier to learning research and academic writing identified by learners was the lack of knowledge, leading to time constraints. Improving learners' research competencies, relationship building, autonomy, and motivation through a support system was deemed crucial. The study also identified diverse learner types and preferred educational topics, indicating a demand for learner-centered education and coaching. Conclusion: This study provides foundational data for designing and developing a program on education on research competencies for interns and residents in Korean medicine and suggests the need for initiatives to strengthen these competencies.

To this end, the Questionnaire survey was conducted to identify the tendency in the recognition by apartment dwellers. The Questionnaire survey was conducted for the apartment residents to identify their interest in and the general trend in their recognition of the view from the living rooms of their housing unit, where Questionnaire items regarding landscape elements, the distances to and location of the landscape elements, and floor locations were compiled on the basis of the results from the field survey in the previous study. Consequently, the following results have been derived. 1) Apartment residents recognize not only natural landscape elements but also artificial elements, and prefer natural elements to artificial ones. 2) It is also indicated that they recognize the distances to and locations of landscape elements and that the satisfaction for the distance and location varies depending on the type of the landscape elements. 3) Furthermore, the floor of each unit is shown to result in certain differences in the recognized landscape elements. The cross-analysis between the floor and satisfaction indicates that the higher the floor, the more satisfied the residents are with the view.

  • The purpose of this research is to draw out the factors affecting the residents' evaluation on valuable animal and vegetation and the naturality of vegetation seen near regional environment. With this purpose, Questionnaire research and vegetation survey focusing on area of types of vegetation and species of big trees were made in 30 points of midstream of Tama River, Tokyo, Japan. The questionnaire research was based on basin environment units in order to be reflective of regional natural environment. The vegetation was classified into 5 types according to its flora and observed the covering area of each points and types through the aerial photograph. In addition, the species of big trees in habitat were listed by the survey. Results as below came out by analyzing the outcome of the questionnaire research and vegetation survey by multiple regression. First, residents are most likely not to distinguish precisely between the quantitative and qualitative aspects of vegetation. Both of the researches are apt to be influenced by quantitative factors of vegetation. Second, residents are assumed to consider forest of big trees, inhabitant of groups of big trees, highly natural.

  • The accelerated aging population may lead to the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and increase in medical costs as well. The aim of this study is to investigate the association with prevalence of metabolic abnormalities and its components in urban/rural area among Korean elderly. We examined the association between metabolic abnormalities and urban/rural area with data from the 2009 Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The subjects were 1,622 elderly aged 65 years or over. The sixty percent of Korean elderly reside in urban and 40 % in rural. Rural residents were significantly lower income and less educated than urban residents. But there was no significant different in nutritional factors. They showed significantly 26% lower likelihood of having metabolic syndrome (0.578-0.950, p=0.018) compared with urban residents. Urban residents were associated with higher prevalence of metabolic syndrome than rural residents. This results will contribute to develop strategy for prevention metabolic syndrome for Korean elderly according to urban/rural area.

  • Remodeling of apartment houses has been increasing recently and residents have chosen to extend the balcony along with the legalization of balcony extension in apartment houses. Balcony extension provides residents more space, however, it has been investigated that balcony extension increases construction cost, heating and cooling cost and decreases sound insulation performance. Therefore, this study focuses on developing a decision making index for residents in remodeling required apartment houses. The suggested methodology involves surveying actual residents, survey analysis by AHP and decision model development using logistic regression analysis.
