Objectives : Residential services are provided to help patients with chronic mental illness, but those have some problems because of provider focused services and uniformized training. So the purpose of the study was to explore residential needs of patients with the chronic mental illness such as chronic schizophrenia. Methods : A survey was conducted on 139 mental illness patients using mental health facilities at Ansan city area in South Korea. We investigated their demographic and social characteristics, the degree of self- reliance and residential service needs. Results : More than half of them had the desire for self-reliance, and they needed job support mostly. They were positive about the use of residential facilities and needed daily living skill and social skill training. Also they preferred day rehabilitation in type of facility. And they wanted to operate in a way that they returned home at the weekend after group home. Conclusions : For facilitating the recovery of patients with chronic mental illness, it would be necessary to provide individualized residential rehabilitation services and to improve existing residential facilities and programs reflected on the patients' needs.

To accomodate increasing housing shortage in many cities, Korean Government has implemented various residental land development projects to provide more land for new housing construction. Most of the residential areas developed by these projects were used for multi-family housing units. Under this process, the size and location of the neighborhood service facilities in the development area were regulated by uniform standards. For this reason, the neighborhood service facilities were not able to be provided according to the household density but provided in minimum status required by these standards. Based on these considerations, this study aimed to evaluated residential land development project conducted by pubilc authority, one of the residential land development projects in Korea. Results of the case studies confirmed findings from literature review and proposed that existing regulations applied to these projects need to be amended not only to accomodata unique situation of each development area but also to enhance level of the dwelling environment. As ways to resolve these problems, this study suggests followings: (1) more flexible operation of the regulations, (2) inclusion of the socio-economic characteristics of the perspective resident in planning process, and (3) introduction of design techniques in the project. Finally, this study proposed future study directions in relation to this issue.

This study aims to present the policy issues and direction of sub-urban residential complex by analyzing the settlement environment and life satisfaction. For the purpose, 10 sub-urban residential complexes in Chungnam Province were surveyed for general situation, physical environment, social environment, economic environment. The results are as follows; 1) The satisfaction in the physical environment is more higher in case of the complex created by the public organization. 2) The physical environment is an important factor in the determinant of the settlement, while the economic environment have a relatively lower impact. 3) The residents community is the more active, the satisfaction in the social environment is the more improved. 4) The source of income or the activity of consumption doesn't have an effect on the satisfaction in the economic environment. On the basis of this study, three programs for improvement of sub-urban residential complex policy were suggested. First, the various information and counseling service should be provided to attract city dwellers. Second, the policy on the development of sub-urban residential complex has to consider residential preference factors and improve the quality of life. Third, to increase the life satisfaction, the residents community should be activated and especially the activation of community with residents in other village is very important.

Recently the elderly care facilities have increased according to the increase in the needs of the elderly care. However architectural studies of elderly facilities still leave much to be desired. The results of this thesis are as follows 1) There are three types of residential unit for elderly care facility such as the linear-type, and loop-type, the hall-type. 2) In the elderly care facilities, staffs' affairs are not separated distinctively, instead all of them join the service for the elders. 3) Since both case being easy and being difficult to find a way for elders are decided by the type of the building, space organization should be planned to be recognized the way for elders and organized straightly with joint area between buildings. This study analyzes the effects of the movement and the moving line of elders and staffs for the estimation of each residential space unit. The purpose of this study is to propose residential space organization of the elderly care facilities.

This study was intended to examine the changes of housing in the context of women's status since civilization in Korea. The purpose was accomplished by review of existing related literature. It was concluded that the changes of women's status due to social changes had meaningful influences on various characteristics of housing. The location of kitchen, housing service, there cognition of housing as a shared space for the family are those which were influenced by changes of women's status.

The purposes of this study were to a) examine using status, b) measure the service quality attributes, c) analyze IPA and customer satisfaction, d) develop the LSM(Local Store Marketing) by location of K theme restaurant such as residential type(A), complex type(B) and downtown type(C). The questionnaires were handed out to 346 of 450(usage rate 76.9%). The statistical data analysis was completed using SPSS(ver 12.0) for descriptive analysis, $X^2$, t-test, ANOVA, reliability analysis, factor analysis, multiple linear regression. From an analysis on service quality attributes, most importance of service quality attributes was more highly perceived than performance of those, except for 'attractive exterior', 'variety of kid's menu', 'convenient facilities for kid' and perceived importance and performance were also significantly different by location of branch restaurant. The attributes to be improved were 'convenience of restaurant's parking lot', 'food tast', 'speedy service' and 'service competency' as branch A(residential type) restaurant, 'convenience of the restaurant location' as branch B(complex type) restaurant and 'convenience of the restaurant location' and 'speedy service' as branch C(downtown type) through IPA analysis. The Overall customer satisfaction was 3.74 and service quality factors had significant effect on overall customer satisfaction. Location of restaurant, which gives a great effect on its operation and marketing, has a important correlation with success or failure of restaurant business enterprises. Therefore, marketing strategy by restaurant location should be developed.

The wonderful new world of shopping - being able to order items you need by just one click. However, there is one factor that has not changed at all - customers, whether they are private individuals or public companies, want to have the product delivered to their address, and usually as fast as possible too. To achieve this, the operators of virtual shops must make use of a fully operational and efficient delivery service. The internet and its potential for creating a virtual market for millions of buyers and sellers, has generated a lot of excitement in the express delivery industry. Clearly e-commerce will cause greater growth in the business-to-residential package market. Korean express delivery industry is not an exception to this trend. Currently, while major three service providers enjoy a lion's share in Korea, a lot of small and medium companies are struggling to capture more shipments in express parcel market. Nevertheless, it will be forecasted that Korean parcel market will be consolidated and become an oligopoly market in the near future.

The objectives of this study were to explore rural elderly's perception on rural area as a proper place to live for the elders and to find out their residential satisfaction and its related variables. The data were gathered through the questionnaire survey from 241 rural elderly over 70 aged living in Gyeonggi province during July 2005. The major findings of this study were as follows: 1) Those who are men, having experience living in urban area, and favorable perception to social relation with other residences prefer the rural area to urban area as living place for the elderly ; 2) Those who are subjectively perceived healthy and favorable perception to social relation with other residences tend to be in higher residential satisfaction than other groups ; 3) Such variables as age, educational background, living term in community and urban area were not significant to rural elderly's perception on rural area as a proper place to live for the elders and residential satisfaction; 4) Such variables as identification as community residences, people-oriented personality, sex and having experience living in urban area explained 26.4% of variance in rural elderly's perception on rural area as a proper place to live for the elders ; 5) Such three variables as identification as community residences, relationship with the primary group and age explained 55.2% of variances in residential satisfaction; 6) In shortly, the most influential factor to rural elderly's perception on rural area as a proper place to live for the elder and residential satisfaction was their identification as community residences.

The degree of nursing service requirement can be determined by functional health status and a predictive explanation for the status on the living-alone elderly is essential to plan home-care nursing intervention. The purpose of this study is to explore the functional health status of living-alone elderly. Especially the main purpose is to contrast the differences of the status between the residential living-alone elderly and institutional living-alone elderly. This study was conducted through the interview by the students of nurse college who were previously trained during the months of Oct. and Nov. 1996. Sample participants located in Tong-Gu and Seo-Gu of Kwangju City. To contrast the functional health status. this study tried to utilize the Activity Inventory(AI). Among the AI's this study adopted the Physical Activity of Daily Living(PADL) and Instrumental Activity of Daily Living(IADL). Results of the study show that the home-care nursing intervention for the living-alone elderly is urgent more for the residential than for the institutional. It seems that the residential living-alone elderly suffer from inability in Physical Activity of Daily Living. As the residential elderly who have some physical lacks prefer the institution. it is recommended to support physical lacks for the institutional. And more mental-emotional support is recommended for the residential living-alone elderly. The degree of the residential's IADL is higher than that of the institutional. It seems that it was caused by the reason that the residential's needs for the minimum level of life is greater than that of the institutional. So the polypharmacy in elderly nursing-home residents must be considered as sigificant.

The purpose of this study is to find out perception types of related groups - service providers, welfare public servants and advocates of disabled people - on the residential care home for disabled people. For this purpose, this study adopted Q-methodology which is developed mainly to study on the subjective conceptualization of related people on research theme. This study found out four major types of perception on residential care home for disabled people, which are the types of focusing specialization and professionalization of care home, valuing on user participation on daily decision making, requesting similar style of care home with normal family home. insisting on abolishment of all kinds of residential care home. This research finding can be used to make clear understanding on diverse voices of related groups about residential care home for disabled people. This kind of understanding would contribute to mutual understanding and clear communication to arrive positive consensus related to the matters of residential care services for the disabled people.
