In this paper, n study a distributed establishment scheme to setup lightpath in WDM/TDM Network considering user traffic characteristics. We propose a GBTA(guaranteed-bandwidth time-slot allocation) algorithm which assigns time-slots according to the requred traffic so that it can utilize given network resources efficiently in RWTA(routing and wavelength time-slot assignment) schemes. We consider traffic specification on the basis of ATM traffic classes. Also, in order to increase link utilization and minimize blocking probability, we extend distributed lightpath establishment protocol based on GBTA algorithm. In order to establish lightpath in distributed WDM/IDM network, we use backward resonation protocol that resewes resource with recent information. We use DOWTns(Distributed Optical WDM/TDM ns) that is extended from NS(Network Simulator), in order to verify proposed GBTA-based optical wavelength routed network.

In this paper, a CSSMA/AI MAC protocol for data services in packet CDMA network is presented. The main features of this protocol are the code status sensing and code reservation for reducing the packet collision. The base station broadcasts the code status on a frame-by-frame basis just before the beginning of each preamble transmission, and the mobile station transmits a preamble for reserving a randomly selected code based on the received code status. After having transmitted the preamble, the mobile station listens to the downlink of the selected code and waits for the base station reply. If this reply indicates that the code has been correctly acquired, it continues the packet transmission for the rest of the frame. If there are other packets waiting for transmission, the base station broadcasts the status of the code as reserved, and the mobile station transmits a packet on a reserved code for the successive frames.
Providing Quality-of-Service (QoS) guarantee requires for each router on the path of a traffic flow not to violate the flow's delay budget allocated to itself. Since the amount of load being offered to the router is determined by the budget, some imbalance in load among routers on the path may be alleviated by means of adjusting the budget. The equal allocation applied to the resource reservation protocol (RSVP) is simple to implement, but it has the drawback of a poor resource utilization. A load balancing method in which the delay budget being allocated to a router depends on its load state was developed to improve the drawback, but it's too complex to apply to the RSVP. This paper proposes an intra-path load balancing method not only applicable to the RSVP but also more effective in improving the drawback. The proposed method first partitions the end-to-end delay bound of a flow to routers by the RSVP and then let them adjust their budgets according to both the bottleneck state of the path and their links' bandwidth availabilities. The results of the simulation applying the proposed method to an evaluation network showed that the proposed method may provide the gain of 4 ${\sim}$ 17 % compared to that in the legacy one in terms of the number of maximally admittable flows.
QoS routing is a routing technique for finding feasible path that satisfies QoS requirements required by application programs. Since QoS routing determines such paths in terms of dynamic network state, it satisfies the requirement of applications and increases the utilization of the network. The overhead is, however, generated by routers to exchange the information of the dynamic state of network. In order to reduce this protocol overhead, a timer based update mechanism is proposed in which router checks the change of the network status periodically and network state information is exchanged if the change is greater than a certain value. Using large update period makes, though, routing performance irresponsive to the parameters which determine the update of the network state of the router. In addition to this, large update period may result in inaccurate network state information at routers and cause resource reservation failure. The resource reservation failure generates additional overhead to cancel the resource reservation of the part of the path. In this paper, we propose mechanisms enhancing the existing network state update policy with respect to these two problems. Performance of the proposed schemes are evaluated through a course of simulation.

In this paper, we tried to enable a mobile device as a resource to access to mobile grid networks. By advanced Internet techniques, the use of mobile devices has been rapidly increased. Some researches in mobile grid computing tried to combine grid computing with mobile devices. However, according to intrinsic properties of mobile environments, mobile devices have many considerations, such as mobility management, disconnected operation, device heterogeneity, service discovery, resource sharing, security, and so on. To solve these problems, there are two trends for mobile grid computing: a proxy-based mobile grid architecture and an agent-based mobile grid architecture. We focus on a proxy-based mobile grid architecture with IP-paging, which can easily manage idle mobile devices and grid resource status information. Also, we use SIP(Session Initiation Protocol)to support mobility management, mobile grid services. We manage variation of mobile device state and power by paging cache. Finally, using the candidate set and the reservation set of resources, we perform task migration. The performance evaluation by simulation, shows improvement of efficiency and stability during execution.

This paper proposes a distributed MAC protocol called Carrier Sensing Multiple Access with Collision Resolution (CSMA/CR) considering fully-connected single hop network environments for next-generation wireless LAN with high density of stations. The proposed CSMA/CR is compatible with the conventional MAC protocols by observing the operation of CSMA/CA and is able to detect a collision promptly without RTS/CTS exchange by applying the technique of CSMA/CD to wireless environments. Moreover, once a collision is detected, the dedicated resource is allocated to the next transmission and so the collision that may occur again is resolved. We investigate some implementation issues for the practicality of CSMA/CR and compare it with the typical distributed MAC protocols. The simulation results show that the proposed CSMA/CR has a low overhead as detecting a collision without the RTS/CTS exploitation and achieves always the best throughput regardless of the number of access stations, by using the reservation-based collision resolution technique.

In this paper, we first analyze the delay performance of Dynamic Space-time Subframe (DSTS)-based frame structure which has been proposed to support the real-time service as well as non real-time service, using Ad hoc Self-Organizing Time Division Multiple Access (ASO-TDMA) MAC protocol, especially when transmitting a MAC SDU with two or more MAC PDUs, in a multi-hop ad-hoc maritime communication network. We propose two key transmission schemes: contiguous DSTS reservation which guarantees the end-to-end delay for the multiple PDUs, and adaptive transmission probability control schemes to maximize the system throughput. Our simulation results show that the proposed schemes outperform the system throughput of the existing transmission schemes, while supporting the real-time requirement.

In this paper, a WiMedia Distributed-MAC (D-MAC) protocol is adopted for development of a seamless N-screen wireless service in Indoor and Ship Area Networks. Furthermore, to provide the OSMU (One Source Multi Use) N-screen service through P2P streaming in the seamless D-MAC protocol, a ATMT (Asynchronous Traffic Multi-hop Transmission) technology is proposed and analyzed. In this system, a WiMedia ATMT D-MAC bridge transmits control and managing information to various sensors and instruments, from a central integrated ship area network station. For this technology, a time slot allocation scheme for WiMedia asynchronous traffic and a multi-hop resource reservation scheme are combined to evaluate the performance of each scheme. From simulation results, the proposed ATMT scheme enhances performances in viewpoints of N-screen asynchronous data latency and throughput, compared to the conventional WiMedia D-MAC system.

An ad hoc network consists of nodes with limited energy. Therefore, the data transmission can fail abruptly due to lack of energy of transmitting node. A previous work PAMP proposed to build multiple low-energy paths to support stable packet delivery exploiting the nodes with low energy. It has energy-reservation scheme and multi-path selection scheme for stationary wireless ad hoc networks. In this paper, we propose an extended version of PAMP by incorporating network coding opportunity in path selection process. The simulation results show that our proposed scheme shows better packet delivery ratio and lower energy consumption compared with PAMP and a legacy energy-aware multipath routing protocol REAR.
Real-time operating systems must have satisfying various conditions such as effective scheduling policies, minimized interrupt delay, resolved priority inversion problems, and its applications to be completed within desired deadline. The real-time operating systems, therefore, should be designed and developed to be optimal for these requirements. MicroC/OS-II, a kind of Real-time operating systems, uses the basic priority inheritance with a mutex to solve priority inversion problems. For the implementation of mutex, the kernel in an operating system should provide supports for numerous tasks with same priority. However, MicroC/OS-II does not provide this support for the numerous tasks of same priority. To solve this problem, MicroC/OS-II cannot but using priority reservation, which leads to the waste of unnecessary resources. In this study, we have dealt with new design a protocol, so called TPSP(Temporary Priority Swap Protocol), by an effective solution for above-mentioned problem, eventually enabling embedded systems with constrained resources environments to run applications.
