  • Pentacene based TFT showed a degraded mobility and saturation current (Ion) after exposure to the high energy ultraviolet (UV). In this article, we optimize the thickness of UV resisted layer on OTFT to restrain the degradation from protect layer deposition and study the UV aging effect of pentacene based TFT. The OTFT deivce with UV resisted layer could keep over 50% mobility after suffered UV $10^3J$.

  • The Process technology for uniform SLS poly-Si and performance enhancement of furnace activated poly-Si TFTs are reported. By strictly optimizing SLS optics, threshold voltage variation in pixel TFTs was remarkably decreased and the non-uniformity such as SLS shot mark was removed. Optimized doping process for low sheet resistance and passivation annealing are critical for the enhancement of device performances.

  • The improvement of efficiency is the one of the most important part in AC PDPs . To achieve high efficiency, high VUV emission efficiency and High ion induces secondary electron emission coefficient are needed. We have measured the emission spectra of vacuum ultraviolet rays and ion induced secondary electron emission coefficient of MgO protective layer in surface discharge AC-PDP with binary and ternary gas mixtures. We have investigated electro-optical characteristics of AC-PDPs to optimum gas mixture for high efficient.

  • In this paper, micromachined millimeter-wave cavity resonators ar presented. One-port and two-port cavity resonators at Ka-band are designed using 3D design software, HP $HFSS^{TM}$ ver. 5.5 Cavity resonators are fabricated on Si substrate, which is etched down for the cavity, bonded with a Quartz wafer in which metal patterns for the feeding line coupling slot are formed. One-port resonator shows the resonant frequency of 39.34 GHz, the return loss of 14.5 dB, and the loaded $Q(Q_{L})$ of 150. Two-port cavity resonator shows the resonant frequency of 39 GHz, the insertion and return losses of 4.6dB and 19,9dB, the loaded($Q_{L}$) and unloaded $Q(Q_{U})$) of 44.3 and 107, respectively.

  • A new homocysteine thiolactone derivative, thiolactomide (1), was isolated along with a known compound, N-acetyl homocysteine thiolactone (2), from a culture extract of soil-derived Streptomyces sp. RK88-1441. The structures of these compounds were elucidated by detailed NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses with literature study. In addition, biological evaluation studies revealed that compounds 1 and 2 both exert neuroprotective activity against 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA)-mediated neurotoxicity by blocking the generation of hydrogen peroxide in neuroblastoma SH-SY5Y cells.

  • Ischemic preconditioning (IPC) is known to protect the heart against ischemia/reperfusion (IR)-induced injuries, and regional differences in the mitochondrial antioxidant state during IR or IPC may promote the death or survival of viable and infarcted cardiac tissues under oxidative stress. To date, however, the interplay between the mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme system and the level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the body has not yet been resolved. In the present study, we examined the effects of IR- and IPC-induced oxidative stresses on mitochondrial function in viable and infarcted cardiac tissues. Our results showed that the mitochondria from viable areas in the IR-induced group were swollen and fused, whereas those in the infarcted area were heavily damaged. IPC protected the mitochondria, thus reducing cardiac injury. We also found that the activity of the mitochondrial antioxidant enzyme system, which includes manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD), was enhanced in the viable areas compared to the infarcted areas in proportion with decreasing levels of ROS and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) damage. These changes were also present between the IPC and IR groups. Regional differences in Mn-SOD expression were shown to be related to a reduction in mtDNA damage as well as to the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c (Cyt c). To the best of our knowledge, this might be the first study to explore the regional mitochondrial changes during IPC. The present findings are expected to help elucidate the molecular mechanism involved in IPC and helpful in the development of new clinical strategies against ischemic heart disease.
