  • Currently serious conflicts of interests are arisen for the use of coastal area in Korea. However, there no mediation program, mediators' consistent policies and reasonable laws to resolve conflict of interests which may be arisen when developing coastal area. The objective of this study is to lay the evaluation criteria for the formalized objective evaluation among disputants of coastal conflicts for the better understanding and characterizing of coastal conflicts in Korea. In order to do so, this study has adopted for the extraction of the evaluation factors to describe the present conditions of conflicts in the selected study area(Sihwa lake), to analyze the problems, and then to explore alternative approaches for resolving the conflicts. As research methodologies, we have depended upon literature review and field survey methods. As field survey methods, we employed structured questionnaires for the various samples from the experts of research institutes, professors, representatives of NGOs and citizens. Survey results suggested that 5 representative elements comprising 35 detailed elements could be identified. Based on these results, this study was able to identify and classify the evaluation factors and help to resolve coastal conflicts in Korea.

  • The Netherlands is a human-made country and an extremely well-designed European country as well. The general Dutch spatial planning for the city and environment takes place at a regional level. The local community determines the primary development conditions, and the prospect is included in a legally binding land-use plan. Especially, Rotterdam is a representative port city as the center of world trade and the gateway to western Europe. According to the history of war, the city reconstruction and the movement of the port area have led to a general change in Rotterdam and the regional redevelopment project on the southern port area of Mass river for the expansion of city functions and the balanced development. The research purpose is to understand the spatial development of the Netherlands city-region based on the analysis regarding the Kop van Zuid project, which is a representative implemented case in Rotterdam. The theoretical framework is the five dimensions and twelve indicators of territorial governance from the TANGO research project by the EU. The target case is assessed by planning and social aspect, respectively, and the results are discussed based on the theoretical framework. This research has the possibility to be utilized as advanced research by the European perspective for spatial development in other city-regions with the port area, such as Incheon and Busan in Korea.

  • 'Aram' is a soybean cultivar developed for soy-sprout. It was developed from the crossing of 'Bosug' (Glycine max IT213209) and 'Camp' (G. max IT267356) cultivars in 2007. F1 plants and F2 population were developed in 2009 and 2010. A promising line was selected in the F5 generation in 2011 using the pedigree method and it was evaluated for agronomic traits, yield, and soy-sprouts characteristics in a preliminary yield trial (PYT) in 2012 and an advanced yield trial (AYT) in 2013. Agronomic traits and yield were stable between 2014 and 2016 in the regional yield trial (RYT) in four regions (Suwon, Naju, Dalseong, and Jeju). Morphological characteristics of 'Aram' are as follows: determinate plant type, purple flowers, grey pubescence, yellow pods, and small, yellow, and spherical seeds (9.9 g 100-seeds-1) with a light brown hilum. The flowering date was the 5th of August and the maturity date was the 15th of October. Plant height, first pod height, number of nods, number of branches, and number of pods were 65 cm, 13 cm, 16, 4.5, and 99, respectively. In the sprout test, germination rate and sprout characteristics of 'Aram' were comparable to that of the 'Pungsannamulkong' cultivar. The yield of 'Aram' was 3.59 ton ha-1 and it was 12% higher than that of 'Pungsannamulkong' in southern area of Korea. The yield of 'Aram' in the Jeju region, which is the main region for soybean sprout production, was 20% higher than that of 'Pungsannamulkong'. The height of the first pod and the tolerance to lodging and pod shattering, which are connected to the adaptation to mechanized harvesting, were higher in 'Aram' compared to those in 'Pungsannamulkong'. Therefore, the 'Aram' cultivar is expected to be broadly cultivated because of its higher soybean sprout quality, and seed yield and better adaptation to mechanized harvesting. • In this paper, we present the fabrication of 40 Gb/s traveling-wave electroabsorption modulator-integrated laser (TW-EML) modules. A selective area growth method is first employed in 40 Gb/s EML fabrication to simultaneously provide active layers for lasers and modulators. The 3 dB bandwidth of a TW-EML module is measured to be 34 GHz, which is wider than that of a lumped EML module. The 40 Gb/s non-return-to-zero eye diagram shows clear openings with an average output power of +0.5 dBm.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze psychological and physiological effects accordance with viewing and walking in the forest and urban area. In the result of measurement of physiological reactions in nervous system, viewing of the forest had a calming effect on the nervous system by reducing blood pressure and heart rate. The other hand, viewing and walking in the urban area compared to the forest area raised stress by increasing blood pressure and heart rate. In addition, viewing in forest area was effective in stress relief by noticeable reduction of the amylase concentration. In contrast, walking in the urban area was also confirmed an increase of stress by increasing the concentration of the amylase. A viewing and walking in forest area was effective in alleviating depressed on anxiety, anger, fatigue and confusion.

  • The calculation of earthwork plays a major role in plan or design of many civil engineering projects and thus it has become very important to advanced the accuracy of earthwork calculation. The purpose of this paper is to calculate the excavation volume of terrain using a proposal area formular in eathwork volume determination for reclamation of the harbor. A proposal area formular by first and third equation is compared with end area, middle area, prismoidal formula by trapezoidal, simpson formular to excavation volume for an experimental terrian $1\sim12$. As a result of this study, algorithm of a proposal area formula by prismoidal formula should provide a better accuracy than end area, middle area, prismoidal formula by trapezoidal formular, simpson formular.

  • Selenium is an essential nutritional element for several animal species and human. It has been also seen, that low levels of selenium in the diet can cause many diseases. This metalloid was defined like a "double face" element because it possesses antioxidant, antimutagen, anticarcinogen but also mutagenic and carcinogenic effects. The most important metabolic role of selenium in the animal species is its presence in the Glutathione Peroxidase(GSH-Px). (omitted)

  • This study is to propose guidelines on waterfront landscape planning for Busan North Port redevelopment area. In Korea, Busan North Port redevelopment project is the first one which aims to make old port area into citizen-friendly waterfront. It is expected that many ports will be redeveloped soon after this urban waterfront remaking project. This is the basic research to lay groundwork for waterfront landscape planning at port redevelopment area. We analyze good examples of genera/landscape plans for port redevelopment area through case studies and suggest the problems and important elements for making landscape plan of Busan North Port area. Also we propose guidelines for making waterfront landscape plan of the redevelopment area at Busan North Port.

  • The study area adjoins with Yangsan fault in Sangbuk-myeon, Samsam-ri, Kyongsang-namdo and consist of the natural steep slope. After drawing data layer which have altitude by using digital topography data, it is converted to lattice DEM of $10m{\times}10m$ size. From this, gradient map of unit lattice, slant direction map and shadow relif map are made. Using flow apportioning algorithm, upper slope contributing area and wetness index by established lattice can be calculated. Area that have high wetness index shows lineament structure of northwest-southeast direction, and this agrees with shear fracture system. The result of electricity specific resistance survey in the study area shows that area of high wetness index has low electricity specific resistance anomaly. That is, wetness index conforms with distribution of fractured zone that accompanied chemical weathering of rock. Therefore, wetness index can be used as the method of detecting fractured zones and judging the stability of the area.
