  • The National Institute of Environmental Research(NIER) launched a research about Framework of Environmental Health Information System for Industrial Complex in 2001, with the goal of finding out measures to establish an integrated management system(IMS) for environmental health information. Based on the research results, NIER started to build integrated information system. The process will continue from 2006 to 2008. As the first step, in 2006, NIER outsourced the job of setting up the specific plan. In 2007, based on the plan created in the previous year, computerization work began. During 2008, the $3^{rd}$ year of the process, the integrated system will be compatible to conventional GIS system and statistics analysis system to deliver funker efficient and useful services. In this vein, the objective of the study is to identify data collection procedure, data utilization, and overall goal of the system. In addition, It will illustrate digitalization process and recommendation about how to utilize the system.

  • If Korea Research & Development reinforces integrated control function, indeed would Korea Research & Development's output be increased? Truly, could Korea's competition be ultimately improved with technology innovation and accumulation of knowledge. Can reinforcement of Integrated control that reinforced efficiency of Research & Development's investment effects make Korea Research & Development's investment, itself, be decreased? I try to answer clearly that in a way to reorganize Korea technology Administration's system, introduced Korea Research & Development integrated control system's establishment is what to effect Korea innovation system's direction after answering clearly previous mentioned problems. In this study, to answer these problems view theoretical discussion about Korea innovation system, integrated control system and system dynamics. Set up analytic tools of system dynamics which includes Korea innovation system and integrated control system. Then, draw a general casual loop diagram, which includes established Korea Research & Development's integrated control system, of Korea innovation system's activity. In based these, develop situation model to analyze trend of Korea innovation system and derive a political meaning by analyzing value of Korea innovation system's major inflow, outflow and stock variations according to extent of Korea Research & Development's integrated control in the same model.

  • In real-time power system control, it is essential to measure the power system variables which are voltage. current, real and reactive power, power factor, system frequency and etc. this variables can be estimated or calculated by the synchronized phasor informations of voltage and current. Therefore, the synchronized phasor measurement of voltage and current is very important to real-time power system control. So, we develop SPMD(Synchronized Phasor Measurement Device) for synchronized phasor measurement of voltage and current. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of SPMD for real-time phasor measurement and prove its performance by the test results.

  • FACTS technology is developed into the sophisticated system technology which combines conventional power system technology with power electronics, micro-process control, and information technology. Its objectives are achieving enhancement of the power system flexibility and maximum utilization of the power transfer capability through improvements of the system reliability, controllability, and efficiency [1]. As a series and shunt compensator, UPFC consists of two inverters with common dc link capacitor bank. It controls the magnitude of shunt bus voltage and real and reactive power flow of transmission line[2]. In this paper, we present the design, implementation and test results of developed 20kVA level prototype UPFC. It is applied to power system simulator and controls the real and reactive power flow and shunt bus voltage magnitude.

  • To cool down a nuclear reactor core and prevent the fuel damage without a pump-driven active component during any anticipated accident, the passive emergency core cooling system (PECCS) was designed and adopted in an advanced light water reactor, i-POWER. In this study, for a validation of the cooling capability of PECCS, thermal-hydraulic integral effect tests were performed with the ATLAS facility by simulating intermediate and small break loss-of-coolant accidents (IBLOCA and SBLOCA). The test result showed that PECCS could effectively depressurize the reactor coolant system by supplying the safety injection water from the safety injection tanks (SITs). The result pointed out that the safety injection from IRWST should have been activated earlier to inhibit the excessive core heat-up. The sequence of the PECCS injection and the major thermal hydraulic transient during the SBLOCA transient was similar to the result of the IBLOCA test with the equivalent PECCS condition. The test data can be used to evaluate the capability of thermal hydraulic safety analysis codes in predicting IBLOCA and SBLOCA transients under an operation of passive safety system.

  • We introduce a high-definition three-dimensional television (3DTV) broadcasting system that is fully compatible with the existing transmission system of high-definition television (HDTV). Specifically, we developed high-definition 3DTV broadcasting subsystems including a 3DTV camera, 3DTV video multiplexer and demultiplexer, 3DTV receiver, and 3DTV outdoor broadcast van. To verify the developed subsystems, we performed experimental services of 3DTV broadcasting during the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan. According to our subjective evaluation test, 88% of 273 viewers rated the perceived depth of 3DTV as “Good,” and 36% of the viewers preferred 3DTV to other digital broadcasting services.

  • We present an implementation and it's real-sea test of an underwater acoustic communication system, which allows the system to reduce complexity and increase robustness in time variant underwater environments. For easy adaptation to complicated and time-varying environments of the ocean, all-digital transmitter and receiver systems were implemented. For frame synchronization the CAZAC sequence was used, and QPSK modulation/demodulation method with carrier frequency of 25kHz and a bandwidth of 5kHz were applied to generate 10kbps transmission rate including overhead. To improve transmission quality, we used several techniques and algorithms such as adaptive beamforming, adaptive equalizer, and convolution coding/Viterbi decoding. For the verification of the system performance, measurement of BER has been done in a very shallow water with depth of 20m at JangMok, Geoje. During the experiment, image data were successfully transmitted up to about 9.6km.
