  • 광가입자망의 궁극적인 목표라 할 수 있는 FTTH 서비스가 일부 지역에서 시범사업이 진행되고 있고, 금년 8월부터는 KT가 PON을 이 용한 FTTH 서비스를 제공할 예정이다. FTTH 서 비스를 위해서는 전송장치 및 서비스 개발과 동시에 전화국사에서 가입자까지 이르는 전송매개체인 광선로시설에 대한 효율적이고, 경제적인 구축 기술을 필요로 하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 FTTH구축을 위해 소요되는 선로시설을 대상으로 기술적 특징을 조사 분석하고, 주요 시설별 기능요구사항 및 선로시설 구축에 요구되는 특성 등을 분석하였다.

Ultra-low-latency services in 5G systems: A perspective from 3GPP standards

  • Recently, there is an increasing demand for ultra-low-latency (ULL) services such as factory automation, autonomous driving, and telesurgery that must meet an end-to-end latency of less than 10 ms. Fifth-generation (5G) New Radio guarantees 0.5 ms one-way latency, so the feasibility of ULL services is higher than in previous mobile communications. However, this feasibility ensures performance at the radio access network level and requires an innovative 5G network architecture for end-to-end ULL across the entire 5G system. Hence, we survey in detailed two the 3rd Generation Partnership Party (3GPP) standardization activities to ensure low latency at network level. 3GPP standardizes mobile edge computing (MEC), a low-latency solution at the edge network, in Release 15/16 and is standardizing time-sensitive communication in Release 16/17 for interworking 5G systems and IEEE 802.1 time-sensitive networking (TSN), a next-generation industry technology for ensuring low/deterministic latency. We developed a 5G system based on 3GPP Release 15 to support MEC with a potential sub-10 ms end-to-end latency in the edge network. In the near future, to provide ULL services in the external network of a 5G system, we suggest a 5G-IEEE TSN interworking system based on 3GPP Release 16/17 that meets an end-to-end latency of 2 ms.

  • Many studies have been done on secure operating system using secure kernel that has various access control policies for system security. Secure kernel can protect user or system data from unauthorized and/or illegal accesses by applying various access control policies like DAC(Discretionary Access Control), MAC(Mandatory Access Control), RBAC(Role Based Access Control), and so on. But, even if secure operating system is running under various access control policies, network traffic among these secure operating systems can be captured and exposed easily by network monitoring tools like packet sniffer if there is no protection policy for network traffic among secure operating systems. For this reason, protection for data within network traffic is as important as protection for data within local system. In this paper, we propose a secure operating system trusted channel, SOSTC, as a prototype of a simple secure network protocol that can protect network traffic among secure operating systems and can transfer security information of the subject. It is significant that SOSTC can be used to extend a security range of secure operating system to the network environment.

  • With repid development of optical networking technology, Software-Defined Network (SDN) and Network Function Virtualization (NFV), high performance networking service, collaboration platform that enables collaborative research globally, drastically National Research Network (NRN) including Internet Service has changed. Therefore we compared and analyzed several world-class NRNs and took a view of future development strategy of the NRN. Also we suggest high speed security environment in super high bandwidth network with 40Gbps and 100Gbps optical transmission technology, network separation of NRN with Science DMZ to support high performance network transmission for science big data, building security environment for last-mile in campus network that supports programmability of IDS using BRO framework.

  • 요즘 사이버 공격이 많이 발생함에 따라 기존의 디지털 포렌식 뿐만 아니라 네트워크 트래픽을 수집해서 사이버 공격을 분석하는 네트워크 포렌식에 대한 연구가 많이 수행되고 있다. 그러나 네트워크 포렌식을 수행하기 위해서는 여러가지 어려움이 존재한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위하여 우리는 이 논문에서 네트워크 악성행위를 분석하기 위한 시스템 및 방법을 제안한다.

Collaborative Research Network and Scientific Productivity: The Case of Korean Statisticians and Computer Scientists

  • This paper focuses on the relationship between the characteristics of network and the productivity of scientists, which is rarely examined in previous studies. Utilizing a unique dataset from the Korean Citation Index (KCI), we examine the overall characteristics of the research network (e.g. distribution of nodes, density and mean distance), and analyze whether the network centrality is related to the scientific productivity. According to the results, firstly we have found that the collaborative research network of the Korean academics in the field of statistics and computer science is a scale-free network. Secondly, these research networks show a disciplinary difference. The network of statisticians is denser than that of computer scientists. In addition, computer scientists are located in a fragmented network compared to statisticians. Thirdly, with regard to the relationship between the researchers' network position and scientific productivity, a significant relation and their disciplinary difference have been observed. In particular, the degree centrality is the strongest predictor for the scientists' productivity. Based on these findings, some policy implications are put forward.

Simulation and Measurement of Earth resistance Values in Common Earth Network (공동 접지망에서의 접지 저항값 시뮬레이션 및 측정)

  • In this paper, we perform a simulation to verify the earth resistance values in Common Earth Network. The simulation is performed on the assumption that certain shorts are occurred in common earth network. Furthermore, from the result, we confirmed that very small earth resistance values in common earth network are given, by carrying out practical measurements in railway sections where common earth network is composed. From the effect, we could discover that the construction of common earth network is in a disadvantageous position on the financial aspect, while it is the most desirable way of construction for the purpose of Earth.
