This study aims to review the research trends concerning environmental psychology. The scope of review is limited to the papers that dealt with theoretical and case-directed investigation research about the relationship between socio-physical environments and human beings. The relationship has been investigated by diverse human reactions such as cognitive, emotional, analytical, behavioral, and comprehensive. 219 papers were reviewed in two steps. In the first step, the ratio of the papers in the field of environmental psychology to the total papers published in the Journal from 1973 to 2004 was analyzed. Second, all the 219 papers were classified by such three criteria as the type of the paper(theoretical, review, case investigation), the methodology taken, and the main theme of the paper. The main findings from the review are summarized as follows; 1. Out of the 219 papers, the number of the theoretical papers was 4 (1.8%), whereas the number of the case investigation papers was 185 (84.5%). 2. Out of the 30 review papers, the main methodology used was simple introduction (15 papers, 50%) and the main theme was research methodology (36%), whereas analytic comparison was used only in 10 papers (33%) and theory review was only found in 6 papers (20%). 3. Out of the 185 case investigation papers, experimental method was found in 34 papers (18%), whereas 99 papers used correlational method (54%). Based on the findings, it was suggested that both theoretical and case-directed research should be performed in order to enhance the state of art in environmental psychology. Theoretical research as a framework to understand the empirical findings are as important as the case-investigation research peformed by scientific experimental method.
The object of this study was to obtain acute toxicity information (single oral dose toxicity) of lyophilized water extract of Puerariae Radix (PR) in both male and female mice. In order to investigate the 50% lethal dose $(LD_{50})$, approximate lethal dosage (ALD), test substances were once orally administered to female and male ICR mice at dose levels of 2000 and 0 (control) mg/kg (body wt.) according to the recommendation of KFDA Guidelines [2005-60, 2005]. The mortality and body weight changes, clinical signs and gross observation were monitored during 14 days after dosing. Organ weight and histopathology of 12 principal organs were measured. As the results, we could not find any mortality, clinical signs, body weight changes and gross findings except for PR extracts unrelated sporadic findings. In addition, no abnormal changes related PR extracts treatment on the organ weight and histopathology of principal organs were detected except for some sporadic findings including hyperplasia of lymphoid follicles in the popliteal lymph nodes and spleen as pharmacological effects of PR extracts. The results obtained in this study suggest that the PR extracts does not cause any toxicological signs except for pharmacological effects of enhancement of Immune system. The $LD_{50}$ and ALD of PR extracts in both female and male mice were considered as over 2000 mg/kg because no mortalities were detected up to 2000mg/kg that was the highest dose recommended by KFDA and Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development.
Hair, having distinct stages of growth, is a dynamic component of the integumentary system. Nonetheless, derangement in its structure and growth pattern often provides vital clues for the diagnosis of systemic diseases. Assessment of the hair structure by various microscopy techniques is, hence, a valuable tool for the diagnosis of several systemic and cutaneous disorders. Systemic illnesses like Comel-Netherton syndrome, Griscelli syndrome, Chediak Higashi syndrome, and Menkes disease display pathognomonic findings on hair microscopy which, consequently, provide crucial evidence for disease diagnosis. With minimal training, light microscopy of the hair can easily be performed even by clinicians and other health care providers which can, thus, serve as a useful tool for disease diagnosis at the patient's bedside. This is especially true for resource-constrained settings where access and availability of advanced investigations (like molecular diagnostics) is a major constraint. Despite its immense clinical utility and non-invasive nature, hair microscopy seems to be an underutilized diagnostic modality. Lack of awareness regarding the important findings on hair microscopy may be one of the crucial reasons for its underutilization. Herein, we, therefore, present a comprehensive overview of the available methods for hair microscopy and the pertinent findings that can be observed in various diseases.
Objective: The propose of this study is to build a conceptual framework for representing clinical findings in Traditional East Asian Medicine(TEAM). As the existing standard models have been developed without considering features of Traditional Medicine, in this study we introduced unique characteristics for the TEAM. Method: This study was composed of three steps. First, we analyzed whether the existing clinical information models are suitable for representing clinical findings. Second, we analyzed ISO/TS 22789 model which is a ISO medical informatics standard, to find out the problem by applying clinical findings of TEAM into the model. Finally, we defined semantic links and a concept hierarchy in our model based on the analyzed results. The model includes the concepts for clinical findings and terms, and the semantic links can be regarded as relations between concepts, so that the representating clinical findings are completed by connecting concepts with other concepts. Results: Our framework was developed by removing unnecessary semantic links, and adding some necessary ones based on ISO/TS 22789 model. The ISO/TS 22789 model has a simple concept hierarchy, but in this study we subdivided the hierarchy and also considered interoperability with other terminological systems and standard models. Conclusions: This research needs more discussions, but is meaningful as proposing a way how to develop Traditional Medicine terminological systems. This study shows the limitations of existing models in describing clinical findings for TEAM, and what should be considered to represent Traditional Medicine knowledge, and propose a solution to improve the problem.
Purpose: Adequate public input and participation in environmental health research must be provided to ensure accurate results from studies involving human exposure to potentially hazardous substances. By addressing these ethical issues associated with environmental health research, this study can help reduce risks for individuals participating in studies and whole communities affected by their impactful findings. Research design, data and methodology: The current research should have followed the rule of qualitative textual research, searching and exploring the adequate prior resources such as books and peer-reviewed journal articles so that the current author could screen proper previous works which are acceptable for the content analysis. Results: The current research has figured out four ethical issues to improve environmental health study as follows: (1) Lack of Guidance for Collecting and Utilizing Data Ethically, (2) Insufficient Consideration Is Given to Vulnerable Populations When Conducting Studies, (3) Unclear Standards Exist for Protecting the Privacy Of Participant's Personal Information, and (4) Conducting Socially and Religiously Acceptable Research in Various Communities. Conclusions: This research concludes that future researchers should consider implementing anonymization techniques where possible so that findings are still accessible, but the risk posed by disclosing identifying information remains minimized during the analysis/publication stages.

Background Bone marrow involvement (BMI) affects the lymphoma stage, survival, and treatment. Bone marrow biopsy (BMB) and fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography (PET/CT) are useful techniques to detect BMI. Both have advantages and disadvantages. We aimed to identify factors that could be used to predict BMI with positive and negative results on PET/CT compare them with BMB in newly diagnosed patients with lymphoma. Methods We included 22 non-Hodgkin and 16 Hodgkin lymphoma patients in this single center study. All patients had PET/CT examination and BMB before treatment. BMI in BMB was reported as negative or positive. Bone marrow was classified into 3 types by FDG uptake on PT/CT; diffuse involvement, focal involvement, and normal bone marrow. Results PET/CT and BMB results were concordant (7 positive, 15 negative) in 22 patients (57%). We evaluated concordant and discordant patient characteristics and risk-stratified patients for BMI. Our findings suggest that patients with diffuse FDG uptake on PET/CT, especially patients with advanced age and low platelet and white blood cell counts, are likely to have BMI and could potentially forego BMB. Patients with negative PET/CT findings and no significant laboratory abnormalities are very unlikely to have BMI. Conclusion Our results suggest that BMI should not be decided solely based PET/CT or BMB findings. It is reasonable to use both diagnostic assays along with clinical and laboratory findings. PET/CT result, clinical and laboratory findings could be useful for predicting BMI in patient for whom BMB is contraindicated.
The purpose of this study is to analyze research activities related to Antarctic science through a bibliographic study and to understand and evaluate the implications. This study is based on 78,445 articles which were retrieved from the Science Citation Index(SCI) database during the period 1998-2015. Through a quantitative analysis and a Social Network Analysis, we made several findings and drew out the implications. First, many countries, in general, have increased multi-national research cooperation in order to enhance research productivity. However, Korea's cooperative research activity is below the average level. Second, considering the 4 centrality indexes, which are derived from the SNA, Korea had a lower score in terms of centrality indexes. Based on these findings, Korea should formulate a more dynamic or proactive strategy in order to enhance its participation in international research cooperation efforts. Korea, the 10th country to build two or more research bases in Antarctica, should make greater efforts to bring the appropriate level of the phase.

Purpose: Bell's palsy is characterized by sudden onset of unilateral facial weakness. The use of corticosteroids for childhood Bell's palsy is controversial. This study aimed to identify clinical characteristics, etiology, and laboratory findings in childhood Bell's palsy, and to evaluate the efficacy of corticosteroid treatment. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of children under 19 years of age treated for Bell's palsy between January 2009 and June 2017, and followed up for over 1 month. Clinical characteristics, neuroimaging data, laboratory findings, treatments, and outcomes were reviewed. Patients with Bell's palsy were divided into groups with (group 1) and without (group 2) corticosteroid treatment. Differences in onset age, sex, laterality, infection and vaccination history, degree of facial nerve palsy, and prognosis after treatment between the groups were analyzed. Results: One hundred patients were included. Mean age at presentation was $7.4{\pm}5.62years$. A total of 73 patients (73%) received corticosteroids with or without intravenous antiviral agents, and 27 (27%) received only supportive treatment. There was no significant difference in the severity, laboratory findings, or neuroimaging findings between the groups. Significant improvement was observed in 68 (93.2%) and 26 patients (96.3%) in groups 1 and 2, respectively; this rate was not significantly different between the groups (P=0.48). Conclusion: Childhood Bell's palsy showed good prognosis with or without corticosteroid treatment; there was no difference in prognosis between treated and untreated groups. Steroid therapy in childhood Bell's palsy may not significantly improve outcomes.

Ameloblastoma, a benign tumor of odontogenic type, represents 10% of all tumors of the jaw. It is localized in the mandible(80%) and in the maxilla(20%). In every case, the selection of the surgical treatment must consider some fundamental elements, including the age and general state of health the clinicopathological variant, and the localization and extent of the tumor. This study was invested the clinicopathological findings of 23 patients with ameloblastoma which had been diagnosed by biopsy during the period of 1987 to 2005 at Chonnam National University Hospital. And it contained the statistical analysis according to the treatment methods and the clinicopathological findings such as sex, age, location, chief complaints, duration, radiographic findings, histologic findings, treatment methods. The results obtained are were follows. The age of patient ranged from 10 to 91 years(means, 35.9 years) at biopsy. Thirteen(57%) of the 23 subjects were males, and 10(43%) were females. Twenty(87%) of the 23 ameloblastomas were located in the mandible. Swelling was the most common symptom and was experienced by 20(87%) patients. Radiographically, 11(48%) of the 23 tumors were unilocular with a well-demarcated border and 12(52%) were multilocular. The most common histologic pattern was plexiform and acanthomatous rather then follicular. Conservative treatment was performed 7 cases(30%), radical treatment 11 cases(48%), and combined treatment 5 cases(22%). Follow-up period ranged from 2.1 years to 22 years(mean 5.1 years). Based on the above results, surgical excision after marsupialization was found to be useful as a preliminary treatment of the large cystic ameloblastoma in children and adolescents. On the contrary, the lesion with a soap bubble appearance, the one with ineffective marsupialization was subjected to extensive excision of the tumor with a wide margin of normal bone.
