  • Purpose - The research is aimed at investigating the dynamics of economic cooperation among countries which share historical and genetic affinity. Research design, data, and methodology - The study analyzed historical and genetic affinity after reviewing related thesis data on countries with historical relations studied by domestic historians. After that, it was applied to the method of designating the counterparts for economic cooperation and suggesting economic cooperation measures within a comprehensive range. Results - Economic cooperation with the counterparts should complement the ongoing economic cooperation with each country among their planned national strategies. Korea proposes such matters in a way that cooperates and develops to obtain mutual economic benefits. Among the associated countries, Mongolia is for the underground resource processing industry, Turkey for the investment of companies advancing into neighboring countries, Kazakhstan for the diversification of business centered on the manufacturing industry, Uzbekistan for the modernization and diversification of industrial production, Turkmenistan for the localization of resource-based industries and Export promotion, Hungary for the increase in investment in line with the East-ward policy, Finland is for the cooperation in the knowledge-based industry. Conclusion - This economic cooperation can raise Korea's international status to the next level and further strengthen our voice right in the international community.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the factors affecting cooperation between industry and public research institutes, in addition to the effects of cooperation between them; on technological and economic performance of firms. Based on existing research relating to the factors affecting industry-university-research institutes cooperation and the relationship between them and firm performance, this study selected the competence of government-funded research institutes, R&D capabilities and organizational characteristics of firms, and support of government and local governments; as factors influencing cooperation between industry and public research institutes. This study sets seven hypotheses on the relationship between the factors promoting industry-public research institute cooperation, technological performance and economic performance. A questionnaire survey was used to collect data for hypothesis testing and 116 questionnaires were completed and used in this research. The PLS-MGA was used as a method for hypothesis testing. In the analysis results, we found that the competence of government-funded research institutes, organizational characteristics of firms, and the support of government and local governments have a positive impact on cooperation between industry and public research institutes. We also found that the collaboration between industry and public research institutes, positively affects firms' technological performance. In addition, we found that the technological performance of a firm, positively affects a firms' economic performance. On the other hand, firms' R&D capabilities have no significant effect on cooperation between industry and public research institutes, and industry-public research institute cooperation does not directly affect the economic performance of firms.

  • In this study, the network analysis of researchers, institutions, and research principal agent was conducted to understand structure characteristics of international cooperation research project implemented from 1997 to 2018. The network of researchers and institutions were decentralized structure. On the other hands, the network of research principal agent was centralized structure. The Soul National University is the leading organization of international cooperation research project. In terms of research principal agent, corporation is the leading principal agent. In additions, the results of the network centroid analysis of the researchers and institutions were correlated with the research funds. As a result, it was confirmed that the network centroid of research organization was linearly related to research funds.

  • The purpose of universities is diversifying, such as education and research for the transfer of knowledge and technology, and training talented people with the competencies required in industrial sites. Therefore, universities are attempting various forms of industry-academic cooperation to maintain organic relations with companies and to conduct research activities, technology sharing, technology development, technology transfer, and human resources training. In particular, in the field of engineering education, various industry-academic cooperation programs such as field training, interns, and start-up support are actively developed and operated. Accordingly, the Engineering Education Innovation Research Information Center developed an online industry-academic cooperation capstone design matching platform for engineering education to enable collaboration between universities and companies nationwide. The industry-academic cooperation matching platform was developed under the theme of capstone design. Capstone design is a project-oriented and problem-based learning method that combines the knowledge and experiences acquired by the undergraduate department and designs and produces them. The subject of the Capstone design project was to solve corporate difficulties and allow companies and universities to collaborate. This study developed an online industry-academic cooperation capstone design matching platform according to analysis, design, development, evaluation, and execution procedures. This study is meaningful in that it has developed a channel through which students and companies, who are the subjects of industry-academic cooperation, can carry out projects and communicate organically through an online matching platform.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trends on educational development cooperation in Korea with the comparative perspectives. In order to do this, this study analyzed the both of academic journal articles(N=184) and policy research reports(N=85) published in Korea from 1993 to 2015, based on the following criteria: research topic, purpose, target, and the characteristics of publication. As the result of the contents analysis, educational development cooperation researches were expanded and diversified in accordance with changes in development cooperation policy in Korea, and also found following three characteristics. First, the overall trend of the researches focused mainly on a theocratical basis in order to implement educational ODA projects rather than academic interests. Second, there were small number of academic research dealing with effectiveness or limitation of specific educational ODA projects, despite of a large portion of them. Third, there was a lack of academic interaction between education society and international development cooperation society. Based on these findings, this study discussed the implication for the future educational development cooperation research.

  • To improve the cooperation ability of emergency entities, in this research, the emergency activities model, skill contribution degree, entity-relationship strength, activity continuity, and emergency entity cooperation degree were defined. Emergency entity cooperation degree and emergency activity continuity table were constructed with emergency cases, emergency plans, and emergency drill plans, and factors were further excavated which affected them. In this paper, we focus on the factors which affect the cooperation ability of emergency entities, the relationship between the emergency cooperation ability and the number of cooperation, entity-relationship intensity, emergency activity frequency, and skill contribution of fire entities and medical entities were obtained. These data results are of great significance to decision-makers in formulating emergency rescue and emergency plans.

  • Since multi-access edge computing (MEC) was established as a key enabler of 5G, MEC based on 5G networks (5G MEC) has been perceived as a new business opportunity for many industry players, including telecom operators. Numerous 5G MEC cooperation announcements among companies playing their respective roles in the MEC ecosystem have been recently released. However, because of cooperative and competitive relationships among key players in the MEC ecosystem and the uncertainty of 5G MEC, the announcement of 5G MEC cooperation can negatively affect the telecom operators' firm value. This study investigates the market reaction to announcements of 5G MEC cooperation for telecom operators using an event study methodology. The empirical results show that announcements of 5G MEC cooperation have a negative impact on the telecom operators' firm value. The results also show that the early deployment of 5G networks may reduce the negative impact of 5G MEC cooperation announcements by reducing uncertainty.
