효율적 전력 관리를 위한 독립형 가로등의 ESS 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of an ESS for Efficient Power Management of Stand-Alone Type Street Lights)

  • Several efforts to replace the use of existing fossil energy resources have already been made around the world. As a result, a new industry of renewable energy has been created, and efficient energy distribution and storage has been promoted intensively. Among the newly explored renewable energy sources, the most widely used one is solar energy generation, which has a high market potential. An energy storage system (ESS) is a system as required. In this paper, the design and implementation of an ESS for the efficient use of power in stand-alone street lights is presented. In current ESS applied to stand-alone street lights, either 12V~24V DC (from solar power) or 110V~220V AC (from commercial power) is used to recharge power in systems with lithium batteries. In this study, an ESS that can support both solar power and commercial power was designed and implemented; it can also perform emergency recharge of portable devices from solar powered street lights. This system can maximize the scalability of ESSes using lithium batteries with efficient energy conversion, with the advantage of being an eco-friendly technology. In a ripple effect, it can also be applied to smart grids, electric vehicles, and new, renewable storage markets where energy storage technology is required.

A New Required Reserve Capacity Determining Scheme with Regard to Real time Load Imbalance

  • Determination of the required reserve capacity has an important function in operation of power system and it is calculated based on the largest loss of supply. However, conventional method cannot be applied in future power system, because potential grid-connected distributed generator and abnormal temperature cause the large load imbalance. Therefore this paper address new framework for determining the optimal required reserve capacity taking into account the real time load imbalance. At first, we introduce the way of operating reserve resources which are the secondary, tertiary, Direct Load Control (DLC) and Load shedding reserves to make up the load imbalance. Then, the formulated problem can be solved by the Probabilistic Dynamic Programming (PDP) method. In case study, we divide two cases for comparing the cost function between the conventional method and the proposed method.

분리 축 가스 터빈 엔진의 동역학적 천이 효과를 고려한 성능 해석 및 부하 인가 시험에 관한 연구 (A Study on Power loading Experiment & Performance Analysis for Dynamic Transient Effect of a Turbo-shaft Engine with Free Power Turbine)

  • 본 연구에서 동력 전달 시스템은 분리 축 방식의 가스 터빈 엔진의 축 동력을 발전기 전력으로 변환하여, 이것을 프로펠러를 구동하는 추력 모터에 공급하는 방식으로 구성되어있다. 여기에 사용된 가스 터빈 엔진은 엔진 축 마력 317shp(236kw)을 약110kw (147shp)으로 플랫 레이팅(flat rating) 하여 운용한다. 본 시험 장치의 엔진은 가스 터빈엔진 출력축과 발전기 사이에 부하 변화 시 댐핑(damping)역할을 할 수 있도록 플라이 휠(flywheel)을 장착하였다. 이 때 플라이휠의 적절한 관성 모멘트가 고려되지 않으면, 발전기와 모터는 부하 상승에 의한 엔진으로부터 요구되는 출력을 얻을 수 없으며, 또한 엔진이 정상적으로 작동하지 않음을 확인할 수 있다. 따라서 제공된 엔진 데이터와 엔진 시험 데이터로부터 동역학적인 천이 효과에 의한 성능 분석을 함으로써 관성 모멘트의 요구 범위를 결정하였다. 재설계한 플라이휠을 장착 시험한 결과, 본 시스템에서 요구한 출력을 얻을 수 있었다.

계통 연계형 가변속 풍력발전기의 무효전력 주입을 통한 PCC 전압 변동량 실시간 보상 (Realtime Compensation of PCC Voltage Variation by Injection of Required Reactive Power in a Grid Connected Variable Speed Wind Turbine)

  • 풍력발전기가 계통에 연계되어 운전 중 바람의 변동에 따라 유효전력이 변동하면 연계지점에서는 전압변동이 발생하며 풍력발전기의 연계 위치 (PCC, Point of Common Coupling) 에 따라 그 값은 변동한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 계통 연계 지점의 전압변동이 이상 전원에서 PCC지점까지의 등가 선로 임피던스와 풍력발전기 출력 전류의 곱에 비례함을 보였으며 이러한 전압변동을 억제하기 위하여 필요한 무효전력 요구량을 해석적인 방법으로 구하였다. 만일 풍력발전기 출력단 인버터의 용량 제한에 의해 무효전력 주입량에 한계가 있거나 전압변동 허용범위가 주어진 경우에는 그에 따라 무효전력 주입량을 변화시킬 수 있다. 제안된 알고리즘을 가변속 풍력발전시스템의 출력단 인버터에 사용하면 수시로 변동하는 유효전력에 따라 무효전력 요구량을 실시간으로 계산함으로서 PCC전압변동을 최소화할 수 있다. 제안된 알고리즘의 타당성을 검증하기 위해 실제 서해 도서지역에 설치된 소형 풍력발전기 및 전력 시스템 파라메터를 사용하여 Matlab과 PSCAD/EMTDC 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다.

영양교사의 현재와 미래지향적 직무에서 필수 업무와 추가 인력을 통해 수행 가능한 업무의 비교 (Comparison of Required and Additional Man Power's Implemental Task Elements between Present and Future-oriented Duties of School Nutrition Teachers)

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the task elements categorized into required and additional man power's implemental between present and future-oriented duties of school nutrition teachers. The survey consisted of five duties, 27 tasks, 93 task elements, and 270 work details in the task elements of school nutrition teachers. A pilot-test was first conducted on nutrition teachers to confirm the survey contents, and then a main survey was performed on 240 school nutrition teachers, using a self-administrated online method, from July 16 to September 5, 2016. To compare present and future-oriented tasks, frequency analyses were conducted. Work details in the task elements were categorized into 'required' and 'additional man power's implemental', depending on school nutrition teachers' responses, based on a 50% cut-off percentage. The results showed that 13 work details among 60 work details (21.7%) in the 'Duty C. Safety and hygiene management of school foodservice', and 15 work details out of 106 work details (14.2%) in 'Duty B. Foodservice management practices' were identified as additional man power's implemental in future oriented duties. As to 'Duty A. Nutrition management', only three work details among 55 work details (5.5%) were identified as additional man power's implemental. On the other hand, all work details in 'Duty D. Nutrition diet education and counseling and 'Duty E. Reinforce professionalism' were identified as "required" as school nutrition teachers' duties. These findings imply that school nutrition teachers perceive nutrition management and education as their primary duties to the fulfill school foodservice' mission of promoting students' health and fostering students' dietary behaviors. The study offers practical and governmental implications, which can encourage school nutrition teachers to perform their primary duties.

자가발전 이동 카트 시스템을 위한 배터리 - 캐패시터 뱅크를 갖는 부스트 컨버터 (Capacitor Bank Assisted Battery Fed Boost Converter for Self-electricity-generated Transportation Cart System)

  • A problem exists in the conventional transportation cart applications, in which an external power supply with mechanical contact connection (bus bar connection) is required to drive the motor. Therefore, continuous effort for maintenance is required, aside from the expensive bus bar connector. To solve this problem, a self-electricity-generated transportation cart system without bus bar has recently been introduced. In this system, a battery needs to store the power of the generated wheel, and a boost converter, which converts the low battery voltage to high bus voltage to drive the motor inverter, is necessary. However, since the instantaneous large current required for starting the motor is supplied from the battery, a battery with large size and volume should be adopted to withstand this large current. In this study, a boost converter that can supply a large instantaneous current by using super Capacitor string is proposed. The proposed converter can be realized with a small size and volume compared with the conventional battery-fed boost converter. Operational principles, analysis, and design of the proposed converter are presented, and experimental results are provided to validate the proposed converter.

EMTP/RV를 이용한 22.9kV GIS 모델링과 과도회복전압 해석 (22.9kV GIS Modeling and Transient Recovery Voltage Analysis Using EMTP/RV)

  • The recent power system is required to a large size of facilities and high power technology according to increasing power demand. However, it could lead to spoiling the beauty of city and environment problem. The miniaturized facilities with large capacity such as GIS have been required in recent power system. The GIS(Gas Insulated Substation) using the SF6 insulation gas enables to miniaturize facilities with large capacity with high insulation performance. However, the substation installed GIS has required to new design model which is different from the conventional substation. The TRV(Transient Recovery Voltage) analysis on simple circuit may applied by differential equation. However, in case of relatively complicated system, EMTP(Electro Magnetic Transients Program) mainly has been used to design and simulate for transient analysis. This paper mainly design the 22.9 kV GIS system and analyze the transient recovery voltage of main circuit breaker using EMTP/RV. It also enables to easily design the other substation installed GIS with same maker and voltage level because the proposed GIS model consists of separated modules such as busbar, circuit breaker, bushing, CT, PT etc. Eventually, it contributes to comfortably compare the interrupting performance of circuit breaker and system TRV corresponding to the substation system configuration.

An investigation into energy harvesting and storage to power a more electric regional aircraft

  • This is an investigation for a more electric regional aircraft, considering the ATR 72 aircraft as an example and the electrification of its four double slotted flaps, which were estimated to require an energy of 540 Wh for takeoff and 1780 Wh for landing, with a maximum power requirement of 35.6 kW during landing. An analysis and evaluation of three energy harvesting systems has been carried out, which led to the recommendation of a combination of a piezoelectric and a thermoelectric harvesting system providing 65% and 17%, respectively, of the required energy for the actuators of the four flaps. The remaining energy may be provided by a solar energy harvesting photovoltaic system, which was calculated to have a maximum capacity of 12.8 kWh at maximum solar irradiance. It was estimated that a supercapacitor of 232 kg could provide the energy storage and power required for the four flaps, which proved to be 59% of the required weight of a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery while the supercapacitor also constitutes a safer option.

전기자동차 운행을 위한 태양광발전소 수요 예측 (Prediction of Demand for Photovoltaic Power Plants for Electric Vehicle Operation)

  • Currently, various policies regarding ecofriendly vehicles are being proposed to reduce carbon emissions. In this study, the required areas for charging electric vehicle (EV) batteries using electricity produced by photovoltaic (PV) power plants were estimated. First, approximately 2.4 million battery EVs, which represented 10% of the total number of vehicles, consume approximately 404 GWh. Second, the power required for charging batteries is approximately 0.3 GW, and the site area of the PV power plant is 4.62 ㎢, which accounts for 0.005% of the national territory. Third, from the available sites of buildings based on the region, Jeju alone consumes approximately 0.2%, while the rest of the region requires approximately 0.1%. Fourth, Seoul, which has the smallest available area of mountains and farmlands, utilizes 0.34% of the site for PV power plants, while the other parts of the region use less than 0.1%. The results of this study confirmed that the area of the PV power plant site for producing battery-charging power generated through the supply of EVs is very small. Therefore, it is desirable to analyze and implement more specific plans, such as efficient land use, forest damage minimization, and safe maintenance, to expand renewable energy, including PV power.

Power-Efficient Rate Allocation of Wireless Access Networks with Sleep-Operation Management for Multihoming Services

  • This paper describes a theoretical framework for rate allocation to maximize the power efficiency of overall heterogeneous wireless networks whose users are assumed to have multihoming capabilities. Therefore, the paper first presents a power consumption model considering the circuit power and radio transmission power of each wireless network. Using this model, two novel power efficient rate allocation schemes (PERAS) for multihoming services are proposed. In this paper, the convex optimization problem for maximizing the power efficiency over wireless networks is formulated and solved while guaranteeing the required quality of service (QoS). Here, both constant bit rate and variable bit rate services are considered. Furthermore, we extend our theoretical framework by considering the sleep-operation management of wireless networks. The performance results obtained from numerical analysis reveal that the two proposed schemes offer superior performance over the existing rate allocation schemes for multihoming services and guarantee the required QoS.
