  • Required Operational Capability(ROC), which means the performance of a weapon system, is determined when estimating the requirements of a new weapon system. It is very important to define the ROC as it has a decisive influence from acquisition of a weapon system to tactical operation. In this study, we propose a simulation methodology to verify the ROC of the Para-Observation Munition(POM), a newly developed weapon system. To this end, we propose a discrete-event simulation model that takes main performance of the weapon system constituting the ROC and environmental factors that affect performance of the weapon system as input values, and outputs operational effect as a result value. It describes various simulation logic required to implement a simulation model, and explains how to verify ROC using various simulation results such as sensitivity analysis. POM is a weapon system that does not have a similar one and that is difficult to directly utilize the military analysis model. This study can be used as a methodology to analyze the ROC and predict operational effects of weapon systems such as POM.

  • User's requirements are rapidly diversed by economic and social changes. Architect, however, doesn't well reflect user's required performance on the drawings in practical business, so that it causes many change orders. For this reason, this paper identified user's requirements through extensive literature review and convert users' requirements into the performance items in order to measure the weight through the survey from users and experts. The purpose of this paper is to provide a guidance for design through the comparing and analyzing the user's weight and expert's weight.

  • In this paper, a dynamic priority-based QoS (DPQoS) provision scheme is proposed for the required QoS from one end of the network to the other in wireless mobile networks. The DPQoS model is used to meet diversity multimedia traffic requirements. This model is come up with a framework for the wireless network of which consists of a core-IP network and also a number of wireless access networks. For the true end-to-end QoS, it is required that the core network is able to support the required QoS for the wireless users. This paper shows a solution to optimize the performance for different traffic classes according to the traffic characteristics. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated at delay aspects such as delay and throughput.

  • CAC, UPC, NPC, cell level QoS and congestion control is required to assign efficiently channels's BW and to prevent networks from congestion. In the CAC algorithm, each user defines characteristics of input traffic when channels are set up and network based on this parameters determines the acception or rejection of the required BW. The CAC control mechanism is classified into the centralized BW allocation mechanism and the distributed BW Allocation mechanism according to the function and position of CAC processor allocating BW. In this paper, in contrast with esisted the distributed BW allocation mechanism which assumes the required BW of input traffic as constant, we assume input traffic & serices as bulk probability distribution in order to analyze performance more precisely.

  • Among many fire-related laws and standards such as fire protection, fire doors are important facilities that play a role in preventing the spread of fire and smoke in the event of fire, thereby minimizing human casualties. Accordingly, the standards for performance required by applicable laws and regulations and related enforcement rules and notices have been continuously raised and the corresponding performance must be secured. However, due to the shortcomings of the relevant laws and systems, the test results of the fire doors confirmed that there was a risk of passing products. In this study, the criteria for fire-related performance were analyzed, and the performance required by other laws, in addition to simple fire protection, was identified, the criteria were organized, and the complex performance required was clearly.

  • The main scope of this paper is to see if the conventional pump can be properly used for a specific fuel, Di-methyl Ether (DME) despite of its low lubricity and high reactivity in the experimental conditions. A wobble plate type fuel pump was connected to the common rail to verify that the pump could deliver the fuel at the required pressure and resultantly DME could be used as fuel without modifying the original pump. At each required pressure (30 Mpa, 35 Mpa, 40 Mpa, 45 Mpa, and 50 Mpa), the pump met the pressure required by the common rail. In addition, pump performance experiments tended to follow the usual performance curve while the flow rate decreased as the pressure increased. The maximum flow rate of the pump was 470 kg/h at 30 Mpa and all measurements were taken with keeping DME temperature below 60℃.

  • Active SAR satellite's main maneuver is roll axis maneuver to change SAR antenna direction. In addition, yaw steering is required to minimize the doppler centroid variation. Thus, it is resonable to assign the torque/momentum capacity mostly to roll axis and then yaw axis. In this case, the pitch axis shows low agility performance. However, due to orbit maintenance, large angle maneuver about pitch axis is sometimes required. In this paper, we study the pitch axis maneuver time reduction through sequential rotation about roll and yaw axis. Since these two axes have high agility performance than pitch axis, maneuver time reduction is possible when large angle rotation about pitch axis is required.

  • It is definitely required to control dispersion of the rocket engine performance in order to accomplish the mission of a launch vehicle successfully. A performance dispersion analysis was conducted for a gas generator cycle liquid rocket engine and the required pressure drops were estimated for engine tunning. As a result, the vacuum thrust dispersion of the engine was from +9.1% to -8.7% and the mixture ratio deviated from +9.7% to -9.6% from the nominal value due to the errors of components and the engine inlet condition of propellants. The required pressure drop in the LOx line to the combustor is higher than in the fuel line for same mixture ratio change.

  • This research presents a systematic design procedure for supplemental viscoelastic dampers required to satisfy the given performance objectives using capacity spectrum method. To obtain required damper size, the amount of supplemental damping was computed from effective damping minus equivalent damping and inherent damping of structure. In the case of viscoelastic damper, iterative procedure is required because of the inherent stiffness of the damper. To verify the design method proposed in this study, parametric studies were performed for single degree of freedom systems with design variables. The method was also applied to a 10-story steel framed structure and the earthquake responses were obtained. According to time history analysis result the controlled displacements turned out to be close to the target displacement regardless of the design parameters.

  • As a sub-system of an air traffic control system, SDP(Surveillance Data Processor) provides with the system tracks of aircraft using the surveillance sensor data from various air traffic surveillance sensors, such as radars. Therefore, the high accuracy of tracking results is a crucial requirement for safe flights, and verification of the required system performance of SDP is an essential step in development. Moreover, the quantitative evaluation of target tracking accuracy is important for newly developed SDP, since there are several tracking methods for Multi-Sensor Multi-Target Tracking, such as MRT(Multi Radar Tracking), inevitably required as the main function of SDP. In this study, definition of required system performances, establishment of test environment, and test results for MRT performance evaluation of SDP, which is being developed in KARI(Korea Airspace Research Institute) are presented.
