The present study investigated the impact of parity 1 gilt body weight during late gestation (d 109) on subsequent reproductive performance of sows and performance of suckling pigs. A total of 2,404 farrowing records over 6 parities were divided into six groups on the basis of body weight (190, 200, 210, 220, 230, and 240 kg) at d 109 of gestation of 585 gilts. Significant effects (p<0.05) of body weight on sow retention rate was noticed, with the 210 kg group having the lowest culling rate and highest total number of piglets born alive over the 6 parities. With increase of body weight, a linear increase (p<0.05) in losses of body weight and backfat during the lactation period of parity 1 and a linear decrease (p<0.05) in backfat loss for parities 4 and 6 were found. Compared with light sows, heavy sows had higher (p<0.05) litter weight at birth for parities 1 and 2 and at weaning in parity 1. Sow weaning-to-estrus interval of sows was not influenced (p>0.05) by body weight. In conclusion, maintaining optimal body weight during gestation would be beneficial to sows and suckling piglets.

Nutrition is very essential for growth, development and reproduction. The quantitative impetus of nutritional factor on adult characters and reproductive fitness was studied in Antheraea mylitta by providing fresh leaves of Terminalia tomentosa for 1 to 4 times a day to $5^{th}$ instar larvae. All the characters have improved on giving fresh diet more times over the single diet. The adult weight has strong effect on the reproductive potential i.e., female pupa and moth weight, survivability, pupation rate, emergence percentage, fecundity, fertility, egg weight and hatched out larval weight. The improvement recorded to the tune of $70\%,\;77.1\%,\;115.4\%,\;36.7\%,\;45.9\%\;and\;218.3\%$ in larval weight gain, survivability, pupation rate, female pupa weight, moth weight and fecundity respectively when fresh diets were provided 4 times a day against single diet. The adult emergence percentage has increased from $66.4\%\;to\;96.2\%$ and fertility rose from $52.2\%\;to\;93.6\%$. The weight of eggs and the larvae hatched out of it also found to be significantly higher in 4 diets a day condition. The study revealed that optimization of fresh diet frequency should be maintained to obtain higher egg production and fertility in order to get vigorous larvae to continue the generation.
Since the successful advent of IVF-ET, reproductive surgeons have been forced to compare pregnancy outcomes of surgical procedures for tubal infertility with those of IVF-ET. The current study was designed in an effort to determine the usefulness of pre-operative infertility work-up, especially diagnostic laparoscopy, in predicting the pregnancy rate and in assessing the reversal feasibility. 109 patients who underwent a microsurgical tubal reversal were reviewed. The patients were followed over one year. The total intrauterine pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, and ectopic pregnancy rates were 66.4%, 3.7%, and 7.3%, respectively. The result showed that the use of loupe might increase the chance of the ectopic pregnancy. I found that the final tubal length, especially the longest tubal length, the site of reanastomosis, and the methods of sterilization affected the pregnancy rates. A 85% intrauterine pregnancy rate was achieved in the patients with good preoperative assessments(Group II-1). There was only 10% incidence of intrauterine pregnancy in the patients with bad assessments(Group II-2). It is concluded that the pre-operative infertility work-up, especially diagnostic laparoscopy, is a good diagnostic tool in assessing the reversal feasibility.
Holstein-Friesian cows(n=284) were given $100{\mu}g$ of gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH) or saline solution by intramuscular injection at 10 to 22 days after parturition, and were investigated their reproductive performance and frequency of ovarian cysts. Among them 28 cystic cows were injected with $150{\mu}g$ of GnRH intramuscularly and examined the recovery rate. The results obtained in this study were summarized as follows: 1. The interval from calving to 1st ovulation was reduced from 28.2 days in controls to 16.5 days for cows given GnRH (p<0.01). 2. The intervals from calving to 1st estrus and from calving to conception were extended significantly in control group (p<0.05). 3. Inseminations per conception and conception rate at 1st insemination did not reveal difference between two groups. 4. Frequency of ovarian cysts was reduced from 14.0% in control to 4.20% for cows given GnRH (p<0.05). 5. Of the 28 cystic cows receiving $150{\mu}g$ of GnRH, 23(82.1%) responded to 1st treatment and returned to estrus $24.2{\pm}4.3$ days after treatment. 6. These data provide evidence for reduction in infertility and reproductive disorders in early postpartum dairy cows given GnRH as a prophylactic.
Environmental condition can induce changes in early life-history traits in order to maximise the ecological fitness. Here I investigated how temperature change and variation in human aquatic activity/behaviour affect early life-history consequences in fish using a dynamic-state-dependent model. In this study, I developed a general fish's life-history model including three life-history states depend-ing on foraging activity, such as body mass, mass of reproductive tissue (i.e., gonadal development) and accumulated stress (i.e., cellular or physiological damage). I assumed the level of foraging activity maximises reproductive success-ultimately, fitness. The model predicts that growth rate, development of reproductive tissues and damage accumulation are greater in higher temperature whereas higher human aquatic activity rapidly reduced the growth rate and development of reproductive tissue and increased damage accumulation. While higher foraging activity in higher temperature is less affected by human aquatic activity, the foraging activity in lower temperature rapidly declined with human aquatic activity. Moreover, lower survival rate in higher temperature or human aquatic activity was independent on mortality rate due to human aquatic activity or mortality rate when foraging activity, respectively. However, the survival rate in lower temperature or human aquatic activity was dependent on these mortality rates. My findings suggest that including of early life-history traits in relation to climate-change and human aquatic activity on the analysis may improve conservation plan and health assessment in aquatic ecosystem.

In these three and half years, the number of dairy cow diagnosed and treated at Veterinary Clinic, College of Animal Husbandary, Kun kuk University was amunted to 4510 heads of Holstein breed. In order to survey the aspect of reproductive failure incidenc
A two-strain epidemic model with an age structure mutation and varying population is studied. By means of the spectrum theory of bounded linear operator in functional analysis, the reproductive numbers according to the strains, which associates with the growth rate ${\lambda}^*$ of total population size are obtained. The asymptotic stability of the steady states are obtained under some sufficient conditions.
In this lysimeter experiment, temporal changes of water percolation rate, irrigation requirement and ${No}_3$--N leaching were investigated under different cultural practices that were no-till direct seeding on flooded paddy (NTDSF), till direct seeding on flooded paddy (TDSF), and transplanting. The highest water percolation rate of 3,001 l/$m^2$ was measured in NTDSF. Others were 2,551 l/$m^2$ and 2,210 l/$m^2$ in TDSF and transplanting. Water percolation rate in NTDSF and TDSF was increased by 36% and 15% compared to transplanting. Water percolation rates in all cultural practices were increased remarkably from the reproductive growth stage and relatively large amount of water loss through percolation was measured even after the reproductive growth stage. A total irrigation requirement was 3,469 l/$m^2$ in NTDSF and 2,898 l/$m^2$ in TDSF. That was equivalent to 45% and 21 % of increase compared to 2,389 l/$m^2$ in transplanting. The largest ${No}_3$--N leaching through the entire rice growing period was 701 mg/$m^2$ in NTDSF and was followed by 494 mg/$m^2$ in TDSF and 465 mg/$m^2$ in transplanting. The ratios to the total amount of ${No}_3$--N leaching at the vegetative growth stage, reproductive growth stage and ripening stage were 31 %, 41 % and 28% in NTDSF; 21 %, 48% and 31 % in TDSF; and 18%, 48% and 35 % in transplanting.
Purpose: Hysteroscopy can be used both to diagnose and to treat intrauterine pathologies. It is well known that hysteroscopy helps to improve reproductive outcomes by treating intrauterine pathologies. However, it is uncertain whether hysteroscopy is helpful in the absence of intrauterine pathologies. This study aimed to confirm whether hysteroscopy improves the reproductive outcomes of infertile women without intrauterine pathologies. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of 11 studies retrieved from Ovid-MEDLINE, Ovid-Embase, and the Cochrane Library. Two independent investigators extracted the data and used risk-of-bias tools (RoB 2.0 and ROBINS-I) to assess their quality. Results: Diagnostic hysteroscopy prior to in vitro fertilization (IVF)/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) was associated with a higher clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) and live birth rate (LBR) than non-hysteroscopy in patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) (odds ratio, 1.79 and 1.46; 95% confidence interval, 1.40-2.30 and 1.08-1.97 for CPR and LBR, respectively) while hysteroscopy prior to first IVF was ineffective. The overall meta-analysis of LBR showed statistically significant findings for RIF, but a subgroup analysis showed effects only in prospective cohorts (odds ratio, 1.40 and 1.47; 95% confidence interval, 0.62-3.16 and 1.04-2.07 for randomized controlled trials and prospective cohorts, respectively). Therefore, the LBR should be interpreted carefully and further research is needed. Conclusion: Although further research is warranted, hysteroscopy may be considered as a diagnostic and treatment option for infertile women who have experienced RIF regardless of intrauterine pathologies. This finding enables nurses to educate and support infertile women with RIF prior to IVF/ICSI.
