  • Recently, color reproduction properties have attracted lots of attention with mass production of LCD especially corresponding to TV application and achievement of color reproduction properties such as CRT have been considered one of technical goals for high quality display. However, revision of the color reproduction properties only with CF(color filter) have fundamental limitations and resultant decrease in the transmittance of panel causes demand on high brightness of BL(Back Light). In this paper, we present such a method in which by optimization of original light spectrum from the BL source will improves the color reproduction properties corresponding to them of the CRT. When the intensity of RED and Green-Blue from ramp is revised densely, the characteristics different from CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) used before become added so that about 11 % of the color reproduction properties is improved compare to the existing LCD panel.

  • Pluripotent stem cells have been generated from two embryonic sources. ES cells are generated from ICM of blastocyst stage embryos, and embryonic germ (EG) cells are generated from primordial germ cells (PGCs). Both ES and EG cells are pluripotent and present important characteristics such as high levels of alkaline phosphatase (AP) activity, multi-cellular colony formation, normal and stable karyotypes, continuously passaging ability, and the capability of differentiation into all three embryonic germ layers. • This paper presents the color displays using more than three primary colors, for the reproduction of wider color gamut, and high-fidelity color reproduction. First, Natural Vision system, which is currently under development for the natural color reproduction in visual telecommunication applications, is introduced, The natural vision is based on spectrum instead of trichromatic color space, and enables high-fidelity color reproduction using multispectral and multiprimary technologies. Then, sixprimary color projection displays using LCD and DLP, and a four-primary color flat panel display are shown. It is experimentally demonstrated that the color gamut becomes much larger than conventional RGB-based display. In addition, it is proved that the spectral color reproduction using multiprimary display suppresses the influence of observer metamerism, and as a result, the color matching between the display and the real object is well improved.

  • A hybrid technique that combines the advantages of binaural reproduction and sound field reproduction technique is proposed. The concept of HRTF-field, which is defined as the set of HRTFs corresponding to the various head dislocations, enables us to realize virtual source imaging over a wide area. Conventional binaural($2{\times}2$) reproduction system is redefined as a MIMO system composed of multiple control sources and multiple head locations, and HRTF variations corresponding to various head movement are quantified. Through the direct control of HRTF-field, reproduction error induced by head dislocation can be minimized in least-square-error sense, and consequential disturbances on the virtual source image can be reduced within a selected area. Simple lateralization examples are investigated, and the reproduction error of the proposed technique is compared to that of higher-order Ambisonics.

  • Plasma concentrations of adiponectin have been shown to be decreased in patients with obesity, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension and metabolic syndrome. Recent studies have found that adiponectin reduces lipid accumulation in macrophage foam cells which may impact the development of atherosclerosis. However, it remains unclear whether adiponectin is involved in the process of lipid accumulation during myogenesis. Using C2C12 myoblasts, we investigated the effect of adiponectin on intramyocellular lipid accumulation during myogenesis. The results showed that intracellular lipid accumulation is significantly decreased during C2C12 differentiation, apparently due to increased fatty acid oxidation and decreased fatty acid synthesis during this process. C2C12 cells transiently transfected with adiponectin gene showed reduced lipid accumulation as compared to controls. Further experiments demonstrated that adiponectin can suppress lipid accumulation by increasing fatty acid oxidation during C2C12 myogenesis.

  • The objective of this study was to establish the optimum protocol for the isolation and culture of porcine muscle satellite cells. Mononuclear muscle satellite cells are a kind of adult stem cell, which is located between the basal lamina and sarcolemma of muscle fibers and is the primary source of myogenic precursor cells in postnatal muscle. Muscle satellite cells are a useful model to investigate the mechanisms of muscle growth and development. Although the isolation and culture protocols of muscle satellite cells in some species (e.g. mouse) have been established successfully, the culture system for porcine muscle satellite cells is very limited. In this study, we optimized the isolation procedure of porcine muscle satellite cells and elaborated the isolation and culture process in detail. Furthermore, we characterized the porcine muscle satellite cells using the immunofluorecence. Our study provides a reference for the isolation of porcine muscle satellite cells and will be useful for studying the molecular mechanisms in these cells.
