  • Due to the popularity of mobile devices and advances in wireless communication technologies, a mobile ad hoc network has received a lot of attention. In the existing data replication management research, the use of a replica has been shown to be an efficient technique for improving data accessibility. However, to use a replica in ad hoc networks, the data consistency between the original data and the replica should be guaranteed. In the traditional research, a mobile node should check an original data whether the data is updated or not. However, It may be costly or sometimes impossible to check the original data. In the case of the time constraint applications, the checking cost can cause more serious problem. In this paper, we propose the time-guarantee based cache invalidation schemes for time constraint applications and the threshold based compensation method to enhance the time-guarantee based scheme. The proposed schemes can remove the "rollback" problem. Simulation results show that our schemes outperform the previous ones in terms of access time with little loss of data currency.

  • Materials and techniques used for two portraits (Jo-nyeon Lee and S ung-in Lee) of the Lee family from Seongju enshrined in Seongsan temple were scientifically analyzed, and based on the data, an optimal replica restoration method was designed. According to the expression technique investigation, both portraits were expressed mainly in line drawing, but there were differences in shoes, pupils, the color expression of flesh, overpainting, and traces of reinforcement. Pigment analysis revealed that a mixture of cinnabar and minium, organic pigment, azurite, malachite, lead white, and yellow pigment were used in common. In the case of Sung-in Lee's portrait, seokganju and atacamite were also used. In addition, comparison with the contemporaneous portraits of gentry showed that the portrait style at the time was found in the two portraits, but the singularity was modified differently there. Based on the scientific analysis, it was decided to replicate the old color restoration for Jo-nyeon Lee's portrait while for Sung-in Lee's portrait, it was decided to replicate the phenomenon. Detailed coloring techniques were presented by supplementing the expression techniques that are difficult to confirm visually using scientific data. In addition, by measuring the chromaticity of representative positions in the portrait for each color and presenting the color reference value calculated as the average value, the current color of the artifact can be replicated and restored based on the objective data as much as possible.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate marginal gap of 3 unit fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) fabricated by 3-dimensional (3D) printing technology and to compare marginal gap of its by a conventional method (lost wax technique and casting method). Ten study models were manufactured. Three unit FDPs were fabricated by 3D printing technique (3D group) and conventional methods (CV group). Marginal gaps were measured by silicone replica technique and digital microscope (${\times}160$). Mann-Whitney test was executed (${\alpha}=0.05$). The mean${\pm}$standard deviation of marginal gap for premolars and molars were $112.5{\pm}8.6{\mu}m$ and $110.2{\pm}7.0{\mu}m$ in the 3D group and $83.2{\pm}4.4{\mu}m$ and $82.2{\pm}4.6{\mu}m$ in the CV group. There were statistically significant differences (p<0.05). As results, clinical application further improvement of 3D printing technique may be required.

  • Riblets with longitudinal grooves along the streamwise direction have been used as an effective flow control technique for drag reduction. A flexible micro-riblet with v-grooves of peak-to-peak spacing of $300{\mu}m$ was made using a MEMS fabrication process of PDMS replica. The flexible micro-riblet was attached on the whole surface of a NACA0012 airfoil with which grooves are aligned with the streamwise direction. The riblet surface reduces drag coefficient about $7.9{\%}\;at\;U_o=3.3m/s$, however, it increases drag about $8{\%}\;at\;U_o=7.0m/s$, compared with the smooth airfoil without riblets. The near wake has been investigated experimentally far the cases of drag reduction ($U_o\;=\;3.3 m/s$) and drag increase ($U_o\;=\;7 m/s$). Five hundred instantaneous velocity fields were measured for each experimental condition using the cross-correlation PIV velocity field measurement technique. The instantaneous velocity fields were ensemble averaged to get spatial distribution of turbulent statistics such as turbulent kinetic energy. The experimental results were compared with those of a smooth airfoil under the same flow condition. The micro-riblet surface influences the near wake flow structure largely, especially in the region near the body surface

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of dental fixed prostheses fabricated by 3DP (three-dimensional printing). Methods: Ten main models were prepared for the study. Ten specimens were printed by 3DP (3DP group). Ten specimens were fabricated by the lost wax technique and casting method to complete the control group (LWC group). The marginal fit was measured for 20 specimens. The measurement of marginal fit was performed using the silicon replica technique. Finally, the marginal fit of 10 specimens from each group was calculated. An independent sample t-test was run to see if the calculated averages for the two groups were mutually significant (α=0.05). Results: According to the experimental results, the mean marginal fit of the 3DP group was 71.9 ㎛, and the LWC group was 55.3 ㎛. The means of the two groups were found to be significantly different (p<0.001) in the results of the independent sample t-test. Conclusion: The marginal fit of fixed dental prostheses produced by 3DP technology was examined with values greater than those fabricated by traditional technology. However, as it appeared to be a value within the range of clinically acceptable range recommended by numerous studies, it was determined that clinical application would be feasible.

  • In the fields of the cultural properties, the Infrared TV camera is being initiated to use instead of the Infrared photo film fo a better means to detect the description of drawings of the paintings. Seeing from the effect of transillumination, the Infrared TV camera with its long wave of visible spectrum that makes less absorption by the pigments and with the reflection rays passing through the base of colour layers makes it able to findbase drawing and letters. The detection range of transillumination by the infrared rays depends on the kinds of pigments, lines of the base drawing and wave length of the infrared rays. In our country, it was the first time to detect by our Conservation Science Dep't of The Research Institute of Cultural Properties by means of using Infrared TV camera to determine the mural paintings on the Josadang, Busuk Temple, resulted in an epoch-making success, that we have come to know the painting technique methods, how to treat for its conservation and making replica, reproduction, etc.

  • Shark skin has functionalities such as self-cleaning and antifouling; it also exhibits excellent drag reduction owing to a hierarchical structure of microgrooves and nanometer-long chain mucus drag reduction interfaces around the shark body. In this study, the wettability of a shark skin surface and its replicas are evaluated. First, a shark skin template is taken from a real shark. Then, shark skin replicas are produced directly from a shark skin template, using a micromolding technique. The quantitative replication precision of the shark skin replicas is evaluated by comparing the geometry of the shark skin template to the replica using 2D surface profiles. Contact angles at the solid-air-water interfaces are evaluated for the shark skin template and its replicas under two conditions: with and without hydrophobic coating. The results show that the microriblets on shark skin improve the hydrophobic feature and play a critical role in self-cleaning.

  • Nanoimprint Lithography(NIL) has increasingly been recognized as a key manufacturing technology for nanosized feature. One of the most important task for nanoimprint lithography is to provide the imprinting stamp with low price. The Stamp fabricated with Si based material by e-beam lithography, RIE is extremely expensive and its throughput is very limited and PDMS replica is too soft to hold high imprinting pressure.(>5atm) In this study, we present the imprinting stamp which can be easily replicated from original mold and is based on PVC film. Replication of original Si mold to PVC film was done by Hot embossing technique, ($120^{\circ}C$ of Temperature, 20 atm applied) As small as 100nm patterns were successfully transferred into PVC film. The size of stamp was up to 100mm in diameter.

  • The destructive method is reliable and widely used for the estimation of material degradation but it have time-consuming and a great difficulty in preparing specimens from in-service industrial facilities. Therefore, the estimation of degraded structural materials used at high temperature by nondestructive evaluation such as electric resistance method, replica method, Barkhausen noise method, electro-chemical method and ultrasonic method are strongly desired. In this study, various nondestructive evaluation(NDE) parameters of the Barkhausen noise method, such as MPA(Maximum Peak Amplitude), RMS, IABNS(Internal Area of Barkhausen Noise on Signal) and average amplitude of frequency spectrum are investigated and correlated with thermal damage level of 2.25cr-1.0Mo steel using wavelet analysis. Those parameters tend to increase while thermal degradation proceeds. It also turns out that the wavelet technique can help to reduce experimental false call in data analysis.
