In this paper, an ARS-EKF based motion counting algorithm for repetitive exercises such as calisthenics is proposed using a smartwatch. Raw sensor signals from accelerometers and gyroscopes are widely used for conventional smartwatch counting algorithms based on pattern recognition. However, generated features from raw data are not intuitive to reflect the movement of motions. The proposed motion counter algorithm is composed of navigation based feature generation and counting with error correction. The candidate features for each activity are velocity and attitude calculated through an ARS-EKF algorithm. In order to select those features which reveal the characteristics of each motion, an exercise frame from the initial sensor frame is introduced. Counting processes are basically based on the zero crossing method, and misdetected counts are eliminated via simple classification algorithms considering the frequency of the counted motions. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm efficiently and accurately counts the number of exercises.
A trap identification system for isolating functional sequences to allow the constitutive expression of foreign protein from Edwardsiella tarda was developed. Using the green fluorescent protein (GFP) reporter-based trap system, various functional sequences to drive heterologous expression of the GFP were selectable in Escherichia coli host. However from the bioinformatic sequence analysis, all the segments predicted as regulatory regions were not native promoters actually existing upstream of endogenous E. tarda genes. Instead, a number of non-authentic sequences, possibly resulted from the random shuffling and/or intermolecular ligation were also proven to be able to display a potent GFP expression in the recombinant E. coli. Further analysis with selected clones showed that both authentic and non-authentic sequences could function in as a constitutive promoter, leading quite a consistent and stable GFP expression after repetitive subcultures. Microscopic examination also confirmed the uniform pattern of GFP expression in every host bacterium. Semi-quantitative assay of GFP showed that there was no clear relationship between expression levels and organizational features of the promoters trapped. Functional promoter-like elements achieved in the present study could be a good starting material for multivalent genetic engineering of E. tarda in order to produce recombinant vaccines in a cost-effective fashion.

To investigate the soil-redeposition and color change on dry-cleaning, the white and, dyed, fabrics of cotton, silk, polyester and viscose rayon were put into ordinary commercial dry-cleaning machine with soiled cloths. The solvents used were hydrocarben, perchloroethylene and fluorocarbon. From the result, we obtained the following conclusions by examining soil-redeposition, color difference of fabrics and tenacity of cotton fabric. 1. In case of white fabrics, as a whole, perchloroethylene shows the lowest soil redeposition. When distillation process is adopted, the rate of soil redeposition is lowered. with hydrocarbon sdvent. The order of soil redeposition rate of fibers are following; cotton> viscose rayon> silk> polyester. 2. In case of dyed fabrics, the color difference between soil redeposited fabrics and originals ($\delta\;E_1$) is similar with white fabrics in pattern, and the order is cotton, viscose rayon, silk and polyester. The color difference between fabrics, treated by pure solvents and originals ($\delta\;E_2$ ) is also validated as a little. It seems to be due to the bleeding of dyestuffs from fabrics. 3. There is a little change of tenacity of cotton fabrics by dry-cleaning with perchloroethylene solvent. It is supposed that the damage is more influenced the repetitive mechanical action during dry-cleaning than by acidity of the solvent having the acid value of 0,14.
Many people in these days participate in running as leisure due to urbanization and socio-economic development. Running is a simple exercise but it can induce its own specific injury pattern because of its repetitive motion. Most runners' injury is caused by chronic overuse syndrome rather than acute trauma. And common accompanying injury in running are anterior knee pain syndrome, Iliotibial band syndrome, stress fracture, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, posterior tibial tendon syndrome. Most common area of runners' injury is knee joint. Therefore the authors reviewed the recent literatures and described the classification, etiology, prevention, rehabilitation in this article.

Numerical parameters have been developed to diagnose L4/L5 disc patients during repetitive flexions and extensions. Electromyography(EMG) has been used to define the muscle excitation and movement cycle in this study. Twenty healthy subjects and twenty L4/L5 disc patients were recruited for the experiment. The subjective pain levels of patients were recorded as $3.7{\pm}1.6$ according to visual analogue scale where 10 was the maximum pain level. Variance ratio of motion cycle was suggested as a new parameter to examine the consistency of the trunk movement. The results indicated that the temporal EMG pattern such as peak time difference between Quadriceps and Hamstrings, the duration of coexcitation between Erector spinae and Rectus abdominis muscle pairs showed a statistically significant difference between healthy subjects and patients. Variance ratio of External oblique and Internal oblique also showed a statistically significant difference. It is expected that those results could be used for diagnosis by building a database for various back pain patients and healthy subjects. This method can eventually help physicians for early diagnosis and prevention of low back disorders.

In this paper, the defrosting characteristics of a PTC heating sheet is investigated by means of a defrosting heat source for the fin-tube heat exchanger in a refrigerator The defrosting characteristics of the PTC heating sheet are examined and compared with those of a conventional electric heater experimentally. It is found that the characteristics of the water draining rate with the defrosting time show a smoothly oscillating pattern when the PTC heating sheet Is used, and the drained water is completely melted. The defrosting efficiency of the PTC heating sheet is found to be about 75%, which is about 25% higher than that of the electric heater. Also, the reduction of the defrosting time and the increment of the defrosting efficiency may be obtained by improving the arrangement of the heating elements of the healing sheet. It is shown that the defrosting time of the PTC heating sheet increases linearly with the amount of frost, whereas the defrosting efficiency is nearly constant. When applying the PTC heating sheet to the refrigerating system, one should notice the fact that the defrosting performance of the PTC heating sheet may be degraded due to the repetitive operations.
We characterized a cytoplasmic actin gene locus in greenling Hexagrammos otakii (Scorpaeniformes). Genomic clones isolated from the greenling DNA library contained two homologous cytoplasmic actin gene copies (HObact2.1 and HObact2.2) in a tail-to-head orientation. Their gene structure is characterized by six translated exons and one non-translated exon. Exon-intron organization and the nucleotide sequences of the two actin gene isoforms are very similar. However, only the HObact2.1 isoform contains microsatellite-like, dinucleotide repeats in the 5'-flanking region (named HOms2002) and intron 1 following the non-translated exon 1 (named HOms769). One microsatellite locus (HOms769) was highly polymorphic while the other (HOms2002) was not. Based on bioinformatic analysis, different transcription factor binding motifs are related to stress and immune responses in the two actin isoforms. Semiquantitative and real-time reverse transcription-PCR assays showed that both isoform transcripts were detectable ubiquitously in all the tissues examined. However, the basal expression levels of each isoform varied across tissues. Overall, the two isoforms showed a similar, but not identical, expression pattern. Our data suggest that the cytoplasmic actin genes may be the result of a recent duplication event in the greenling genome, which has not experienced significant subfunctionalization in their housekeeping roles.

This study selects camellia flowers as a material for design development and created patterns by simplifying the image of camellia flowers and combining it with a geometrical motif. It it applied them to various fields to develop design content for fashion cultural products that were Korean, modern, and competitive. For this purpose, this paper used Adobe Illustrator CS2 to turn the camellia flower into a motif and develop it into a pattern. Based on the realistic form of camellia flower, this paper set 3 basic motifs of new formative images, using graphic elements, such as omission of a form, simplification, overlapping, repetition, and reduction, and it also developed two transformed motifs by applying a different color to each motif. This paper repetitively arranged each motif in the background of a diamond shape, a square, and a circle, and it combined each motif with the patterns of marcel, stairs, and stripes, through which it expressed the combination of the geometrical patterns and the flower patterns. Through the application of repetitive and combined patterns of each motif, the enlargement and reduction of motifs, the repetition of motifs, the combined use of motifs, and the change in colors and layout, this paper used the motifs of various fashion cultural products, such as scarves, neckties, and T-shirts.

The ability to efficiently and robustly recover accurate 3D terrain models from sets of stereoscopic images is important to many civilian and military applications. A stereo matching has been an important tool for reconstructing three dimensional terrain. However, there exist many factors causing stereo matching error, such as occlusion, no feature or repetitive pattern in the correlation window, intensity variation, etc. Among them, occlusion can be only resolved by true multi-image stereo. In this paper, we present multi-image stereo method using DEM fusion as one of efficient and reliable true multi-image methods. Elevations generated by all pairs of images are combined by the fusion process which accepts an accurate elevation and rejects an outlier. We propose three fusion schemes: THD(Thresholding), BPS(Best Pair Selection) and MS(Median Selection). THD averages elevations after rejecting outliers by thresholding, while BPS selects the most reliable elevation. To determine the reliability of a elevation or detect the outlier, we employ the measure of self-consistency. The last scheme, MS, selects the median value of elevations. We test the effectiveness of the proposed methods with a quantitative analysis using simulated images. Experimental results indicate that all three fusion schemes showed much better improvement over the conventional binocular stereo in natural terrain of 29 Palms and urban site of Avenches.
Brain computer interface is the technology of interface for next generation. Recently, user intention has been tried to be recognized for interfacing a computer. EEG plays important role in developing practical application in this area. Much research has focused on extracting EEG commander generated by human movement. ERD/ERS has generally accepted as important EEG parameters for prediction of human movement. However, There has been difference between initial movement indicated by ERD/ERS and real movement. Therefore, this study was to determine the time differences for brain interface by ERD/ERS. Five university students performed ten repetitive movements. ERD/ERS was determined according to movement execution and the significant pattern showed the difference between movement execution and movement indication of ERD/ERS.
