  • The purpose of this study is augmentation of heat transfer without additional power in the case of rectangular air jet which impinges vertically on the heating surface. The experimental results are obtained heat transfer augmentation of a two-dimensional impinging jet using the surface roughness of transverse repeated-rib type. The integral average heat transfer coefficient of ribbed plate is about two times larger than that of flat plate. In order to supplement the information about the mechanism of heat transfer augmentation, the flow structure in the stagnation region is visually studied by using the smoke wire technique. The heat transfer augmentation is due to the effect of stretching of large scale vortex in the stagnation region.

  • This research is about the mechanical properties of knit pullover of Shaping and WholeGarment according to structured patterns and form of the armhole. For the study 12 samples are prepared under different conditions and through comparative analysis of each sample's armhole around armpit in basic properties, tensile strength & elongation and residual elongation after repeated extensions, the conclusion is as follows. As a result of comparing basic properties of structured pattern of Shaping and WholeGarment samples, in all structured patterns Shaping samples weighed more. According to the comparative analysis of tensile strength & elongation of Shaping and WholeGarment samples, Machi on both sides of WholeGarment samples showed the highest strength. By comparing outcome of residual elongation by structured pattern of Shaping and WholeGarment samples, both types were observed to have the residual elongation increase in the order of Plain

  • In this paper, we consider the structure of ${\gamma}$-constacyclic codes of length $2p^s$ over the Galois ring $GR(p^a,m)$ for any unit ${\gamma}$ of the form ${\xi}_0+p{\xi}_1+p^2z$, where $z{\in}GR(p^a,m)$ and ${\xi}_0$, ${\xi}_1$ are nonzero elements of the set ${\mathcal{T}}(p,m)$. Here ${\mathcal{T}}(p,m)$ denotes a complete set of representatives of the cosets ${\frac{GR(p^a,m)}{pGR(p^a,m)}}={\mathbb{F}}p^m$ in $GR(p^a,m)$. When ${\gamma}$ is not a square, the rings ${\mathcal{R}}_p(a,m,{\gamma})=\frac{GR(p^a,m)[x]}{{\langle}x^2p^s-{\gamma}{\rangle}}$ is a chain ring with maximal ideal ${\langle}x^2-{\delta}{\rangle}$, where ${\delta}p^s={\xi}_0$, and the number of codewords of ${\gamma}$-constacyclic code are provided. Furthermore, the self-orthogonal and self-dual ${\gamma}$-constacyclic codes of length $2p^s$ over $GR(p^a,m)$ are also established. Finally, we determine the Rosenbloom-Tsfasman (RT) distances and weight distributions of all such codes.

  • The question addressed by the present research was whether repeated, careful reading of a few stories(Intensive Reading) is more effective than general, one-time reading of many stories(Extensive Reading). Unfamiliar stories were read to 105 kindergarten children from typewritten sheets of paper for 40 days(about 10 weeks). The Intensive Reading group heard 5 stories and the Extensive Reading group heard 40 stories. Effectiveness was measured by interest level during story telling and by narrative structure. Test scores were analysed by ANCOVA. No differences were found between the 2 groups; however, as a new area of study it could serve as a catalyst for research on story telling methods.

  • This paper was studied to effects of fatigue by low flexural load on micro structures and carbonation of mortar. Mortar specimens cured at various conditions were first subjected to bending repeated loads, and it was made clear that insufficient cure reduced fatigue resistance of them. Next, fatigue tests that the stress levels are lower than the ones of fatigue rupture were carried out, The effect of curing conditions in early age on carbonation was furthermore studied using the scale, and it was made clear that insufficient cure is also susceptible to carbonation of them. Finally, the reason for rapid carbonation of fatigued mortars insufficiently outed was discussed from the view point of changes in pore structure of them.

  • Most of mechanical failures are caused by repeated loadings and therefore they are strongly related to fatigue. To avoid the failures caused by fatigue, determination of an optimal shape of a structure is one of the very important factors in the initial design stage. Shape optimization for a compact tension specimen in opening mode in fracture mechanics, was accomplished by the linear elastic fracture mechanics and the growth-strain method in this study. Also shape optimization for a cantilever beam in mixed mode was carried out by the same techniques. The linear elastic fracture mechanics was used to estimate stress intensity factors and fatigue lives. And the growth-strain method was used to optimize the shape of the initial shape of the specimens. From the results of the shape optimization, it was found that shapes of two types of specimens and a cantilever beam optimized by the growth-strain method prolong their fatigue lives very much. Therefore, it was verified that the growth-strain method is an appropriate technique for shape optimization of a structure having a crack.

  • This study proposes a system identification technique for a fiber-reinforced polymer deck with neural networks. Neural networks are trained for system identification and the identified structure gives training data in return. This process is repeated until the identified parameters converge. Hence, the proposed algorithm is called an iterative neural network scheme. The proposed algorithm also relies on recent developments in the experimental design of the response surface method. The proposed strategy is verified with known systems and applied to a fiber-reinforced polymer bridge deck with experimental data.

  • This paper presents a new mobile robot localization method for indoor robot navigation. The method uses hexagon distributed color-coded patches on the ceiling and a camera is installed on the robot facing the ceiling to recognize these patches. The proposed "cell-coded map", with the use of only seven different kinds of color-coded landmarks distributed in hexagonal way, helps reduce the complexity of the landmark structure and the error of landmark recognition. This technique is applicable for navigation in an unlimited size of indoor space. The structure of the landmarks and the recognition method are introduced. And 2 rigid rules are also used to ensure the correctness of the recognition. Experimental results prove that the method is useful.

  • This paper considers the problem of patterns recognition using the artificial neural network systems. The artificial neural network systems provide an effective tool for classifying patterns and/or characters by learning them in a certain repeated hashion. The mechanism of the learning process and the structure of neural network systems used are main concerns in the accurate and fast classification of the patterns which are slightly different each other. The neural network system employed in this study has three layers structure which is composed of input, intermidiate, and output layers. Our main concern is to develope an effective learning mechanism how to learn the patterns fastly and accurately. The experimental study performed shows that there exists an effective learning method to get higher recognition ratio in classifying the several different patterns by artificial neural network system constructed.

  • The general users find difficulties in using ellipsometers. Thus, the object of this study is to construct an ellipsometer with simple operation principle. We developed an ellipsometer which does not require alignment and calibration before measuring sample. A basis structure model after rotating a compensator spectroscopic ellipsometry, the fixed incidence angle at $70^{\circ}$. This ellipsometer does not demand calibration, because the plane of incidence is not changed due to the novel sample holder structure. The results for various standard samples were compared with those from conventional RCSE to test the performance of this instrument. Also repeated measurements were performed to test the precision of the calibration coefficient in a plane of incidence fixed.
