In Korea, construction and development has been continued rapidly since the 1970s, and the reconstruction and renovation market has recently been activated to improve old buildings. Most of the environmental evaluation of reconstruction and renovation projects is focused on the use of operating energy, and It is necessary to analyze carbon emissions throughout the life cycle for a comprehensive evaluation of reconstruction and remodeling projects. Therefore, this study quantitatively predicted carbon emissions from reconstruction and renovation based on ISO 14040s through case analysis for the purpose of evaluating the carbon emissions of renovated buildings from the perspective of the whole life cycle. In additional, the amount of carbon savings of each was analyzed through comparison with existing building.

For the quality of life and independent living of the disabled, government has provided financial supports for housing renovation and improvement projects for the disabled. However, there is a limited budget which should be properly distributed for a number of disabled families. Therefore, it is important to decide which parts should be improved for housing renovation for the disabled. Financial and administrative supports for the renovation should improve housing conditions in terms of accessibility (barrier free) and should bring the better comfort for the disabled. The purpose of this study was to describe the characteristics of the housing renovation projects, to investigate whether the renovation influence occupants' satisfaction, and to examine which factor such as renovation cost and renovation elements would influence the degree of satisfaction for residents with disabilities. Participants of this study are limited to the recipients of financial supports for housing renovation and refurbishment from City of Seoul and Ministry of Health and Welfare. A total of 153 cases were analyzed using post occupancy survey and the project cost data for the participants' housing were collected. Overall, more cost were used for modification for housing condition than for removal of architectural barriers. Housing type and physical condition of the housing affects cost for renovation more significantly. Overall the improvement cost is positively related to resident's satisfaction using regression analysis. In addition, it is important to meet the residents specific needs for repair, refurbishment, and renovation of housing.

The Purpose of this paper is to describe a decision model which can be used to establish an implementation system of renovation for university building. Any implementation model relies on the work scopes of renovation which varies design, project cost, construction duration. The renovation system is subject to evaluation of work steps which is different from each project. Accordingly, the decision model of renovation is necessary to use the application of the analytical hierarchy process. Many of the performance steps used in general renovation condition may be known with uncertainty. This research has shown how probabilities can be explicitly incorporated in the decision model of renovation to assess this uncertainty.

Men should be able to do whatever they want to and want to safely protected at home which is special domain for them. The disabled live mentally uncomfortable lives at home which should be a place where they should be comfortable and convenient. Renovation projects started in Incheon since 2009 by commencing renovation projects for the disabled by the government and welfare centers. Since the project is a program supported by the government or welfare centers thus priority on renovation was decided and carried out by in-depth interview to decide areas to renovate because of limited budgets. This paper is aimed to propose plans for renovating homes according to priority for renovation for dwellers when renovating homes for the disabled with limited budgets. Renovating home for the disabled can be broadly divided into physical, environmental, esthetic renovations, and physical renovation is a basic renovation for daily lives without restrictions in living and include easy movements, accesses to each rooms and adequacy of movement, easily accesses related with easily accessible distance and height, safety to prevent accidents caused by physical inabilities. Environmental renovation is general supports becoming the base of daily living and include control for controlling lighting, heating, air quality for comfortable environments in living space and pleasantness to maintain bright and pleasant interior with sufficient light. Esthetic renovation includes expression of identity by expressing image of one self and visual effects or spatial consideration for hobbies to enjoy comfortable and rich lives.

Residential building owners are turning toward renovating their existing buildings to improve old and inefficient HVAC systems. Due to the renovation, much of the added costs will inevitably be passed on to tenants by increasing rent rates. This increment often increases the vacancy rate in the buildings. To balance the interests of both owners and tenants, this paper suggested a method to determine an appropriate rental rate increment for the HVAC system renovation. A case study on residential buildings was conducted to determine a balanced point where the rental rate increment that offsets the amount tenants are willing to pay for the renovation. To calculate all costs incurred by the renovation, life-cycle cost analysis was carried out. Therefore, this paper ultimately provides a threshold value of rental rate increment such that building owners can make a reasonable decision on the HVAC system renovation.

The grands ensembles, or large-scale high-rise housing projects, are widely regarded as notorious products of postwar French government policy in the area of housing and urban planning. There was a general consensus that the grands ensembles had been a 'failure'. They were perceived as the source of all the ills of the contemporary city, as responsible for a social breakdown stemming from lack of infrastructure, geographical isolation, and monotonous environments. French government embarked on a broad renovation effort in light of the deteriorated condition of grands ensembles in the 1980s, which has been approved as generally 'successful'. This study focusing on French cases allowed me to demonstrate that following qualifications are critically important for successful housing projects: urban contextual continuity, socially mixed community, authentic planning for achieving sense of place, relationship between collective and individual expression, et cetera.

In this study, an advanced form-finding method of tensegrity unit modules is presented to apply on renovation building. Here a fitness function of maximum natural frequency which can lead to a maximum stiffness status was used for a genetic algorithm. To apply the lightweight pin-jointed structure to the renovation project is more economical over to build new structures. In this paper, two types of tensegrity unit are presented to build expanded structures, and their force densities are shown using the proposed form-finding method. The expanded structures which may influence renovation projects are presented by using the tensegrity units.

본 연구는 부산시의 북항재개발사업을 사례로 항만형 도시재생사업에서 주민참여 방안과 효과적인 주민참여를 위한 도시마케팅 방안을 분석하고, 이를 통해 도시재생사업의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 우선, 설문결과를 보면, 북항재개발사업의 주민참여 방안으로는 여론조사, 공론조사, 시민자문위원회의 타당성이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 주민의견수렴이 가장 필요한 단계로는 최종 대안을 선택하는 단계로 나타났다. 사업단계별로 적절한 시민의견 수렴방법으로는 시민의 가치관 판단 단계에서는 여론조사가, 나머지 모든 단계에서 전문가위원회를 가장 적절한 방법으로 나타났다. 둘째로, 주민참여의 활성화를 위한 도시마케팅 방안을 보면, 도시마케팅의 주체는 지방자치단체가, 도시마케팅의 과제로는 도시 공간 질 향상과 같은 인프라 요소가 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 도시마케팅 방안으로는 항만도시로서의 이미지를 부각하고 외국인 관광객 대상으로 홍보하는 것이 적절한 것으로 나타난다. 결론적으로 효과적인 주민참여와 도시마케팅을 통해, 지역의 특성을 살리면서 다른 경쟁지역과의 차별적인 창조적 개발 방안이 도출됨으로 항만형 도시재생사업이 활성화될 것으로 판단된다.
