This paper presents the optimal energy generation systems for economical EVs(Electric Vehicles) charging stations located in an island area. The system includes grid electricity, diesel generator and renewable energy sources of wind turbines and PV(Photovoltaic) panels. The independent generation system is designed with data resources such as annual average wind speed, solar radiation and the grid electricity price by calculating system cost under different structures. This sensitive analysis on the varying data resources allows for the configuration of the most economical generation system for charging stations by comparing initial capital, operating cost, NPC(Net Present Cost) and COE(Cost of Energy). Depending on the increase of the grid cost, the NPC variation of the most economical system which includes renewable energy generations and grid electricity can be smaller than those of other generation systems.

This paper presents a study on reliability evaluation of a power system considering wind turbine generators (WTG) with multi-state. Renewable energy resources such as wind, wave, solar, micro hydro, tidal and biomass etc. are becoming importance stage by stage because of considering effect of the environment. Wind energy is one of the most successful sources of renewable energy for the production of electrical energy. But, reliability evaluation of generating system with wind energy resources is a complex process. While the wind turbine generators can not modelled as two-state model as like as conventional generators, they should be modelled as multi-state model due to wind speed random variation. The methodology for obtaining reliability evaluation index of wind turbine generators is different from it of the conventional generators. A method for making outage capacity probability table of WTG for reliability is proposed in this paper. The detail process is presented using case study of simple system.
A wide range of projects for ocean renewable energy are currently in development around the world and ocean energy industries continue to receive significant support from their governments. Surrounded by sea on three sides, Korea has potentially abundant renewable ocean energy resources, which include tidal current, tidal range, offshore wind power, osmotic pressure and ocean thermal energy. Numerous ocean renewable energy projects has been developed in Korea. Nevertheless, there are some concerns that those developments often select an environmentally unsuitable location and/or there are very few existing information on those environmental effects. The purpose of this study is to improve supporting policies and regulation systems of ocean renewable energy development in Korea by reviewing and compiling government policies and environmental assessment systems related to ocean renewable energy development around the world. The study suggests several policy implications for its environmental-friendly development in Korea, including requirements of strategic environmental assessment for proactive and environmentally suitable site selection of ocean renewable energy development and continuous post-development environmental monitoring, and so on.
In this new energy economy era, the importance of renewable energy resource needs to be highly addressed, as the demand of energy dramatically increases and fossil fuel is being exhausted. Lignocellulosic biomass is considered as the sustainable and renewable feedstock to produce biochemicals and biofuels that are the alternative for petroleum derived products. Furfural is a natural precursor for the range of furan based chemicals and solvents such as methylfuran, tetrahydrofuran, methyltetrahydrofuran, ethyltetrahydrofuryl ether, ethyl levulinate, levulinic acid, and alkanes. Thus, furfural should be a renewable platform chemical for biochemicals and renewable biofuels. In this paper, the concept of biorefinery, furfural production and its applications are briefly reviewed.
Recently, because of the depletion of fossil fuels and the environmental pollution by using fossil fuels and harmfulness of atomic power plants. the interests concerning new and renewable energy resources are rising increasingly. And of all new and renewable energy sources the PV generation systems are recognized as the most useful and desirable renewable energy source in allowance for installation conditions. In this development, the 3kWp photovoltaic power generation system is realized to verify the performance of the 3kWp PCS developed by Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. (HHI). The photovoltaic array used in this system is composed of 60 modules of 50Wp capacity. The developed system is tested as procedures and items of test regulation recognized by governmen and the experimental results show the excellent electrical characteristics. Now, the 3kWp PCS developed is installed in the PV model house built in HHI plant and is being tested for practical use commercialization.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is a geographically large but sparsely populated country, rich in natural resources, located in the center of the Eurasian continent. In recent years, it has begun to create a green economy, leading it among its neighbors in Central Asia. Therefore, the country has set a clear goal: by 2030, emissions should be reduced by 15-25% compared to the level of the 90s. As part of the country green economy strategy, in 2013 Kazakhstan adopted the "National Concept for the Transition to the Green Economy until 2050", which sets out the principles of the green economy as a path for future development. The goal is to bring the share of renewable energy in electricity production from zero to 3% by 2020, and then increase it to 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2050. This paper looks at what Kazakhstan has done to promote renewable energy and provider perspectives. The paper also considers Kazakhstani legislation in terms of the development of renewable energy sources and provides information on incentives and preferences for the development of renewable energy sources. Thus, it will be easier for investors to evaluate the implementation of potential projects in Kazakhstan.
In this study, we measured the wind data as new and renewable energy resources and carried out the evaluation of uncertainty about these data with the authentic standards. These data collected at the 20 locations in korea. We carried out the processing and evaluation about these data with standards as ISO, GUM, and IEC. Whereby these data become standards data and the credibility are gained. These data include some information as direction, humidity, pressure, temperature, and energy density. The annual average of wind speed(in Hamo) was measured as 9.5m/s, then the uncertainty was evaluated as ${\pm}0.88m/s$. We judge the credibility of data by expression of reliability quantitatively. In additional, the standards data is able to approach anywhere and it will be used to support of related research and industry.
According to the Renewable Energy 3020 Implementation Plan announced in 2017 by the South Korean government, the electricity share of renewable energy will be expanded to 20% of the total electricity generation by 2030. Given the intermittency of electricity generation from renewable energy, realization of such a plan presents challenges to managing South Korea's isolated national electric grid and implies potentially large excess electricity generation in certain situations. The purpose of this study is: 1) to develop a model to accurately simulate the effects of excess electricity generation from renewables which would arise during the transition, and 2) to propose strategies to manage excess electricity generation through effective utilization of domestic electricity generating capabilities. Our results show that in periods of greater PV and wind power, namely the spring and fall seasons, the frequency of excess electricity generation increases, while electricity demand decreases. This being the case, flexible operation of coal and nuclear power plants along with LNG and pumped-storage hydroelectricity can be used to counterbalance the excess electricity generation from renewables. In addition, nuclear energy plays an important role in reducing CO2 emissions and electricity costs unlike the fossil fuel-based generation sources outlined in the 8th Basic Plan.
With the increased interest in renewable energy, various hydrogen production technologies have been developed. Hydrogen production can be classified into green, blue, gray, and pink hydrogen depending on the production method; each method has different technical performance, costs, and CO2 emission characteristics. Hence, selecting the technology priorities that meet the company strategy is essential to develop technologically and economically feasible projects and achieve the national carbon neutrality targets. In addition, in early development technologies, analyzing the technology investment priorities based on the company's strategy and establishing investment decisions such as budget and human resources allocation is important. This study proposes a method of selecting priorities for various hydrogen production technologies as a specific implementation plan to achieve the national carbon neutrality goal. In particular, we analyze key performance indicators for technology, economic feasibility, and environmental performance by various candidate technologies and suggest ways to score them. As a result of the analysis using the aforementioned method, the priority of steam methane reforming (SMR) technology combined with carbon capture & storage (CCS) was established to be high in terms of achieving the national carbon neutrality goal.
Mongolia is located between Russia and China in Central Asia. In coal-rich corners, both the energy and energy sectors of our country prevail. Mongolia has vast resources of renewable energy and limited hydropower plants, such as wind and solar. In their first iNDC (intended Nationally Determined Contributions) submitted in 2015, Mongolia has pledged to increase the share of renewables capacity to 20% by 2020, and 30% by 2030 while reducing their energy related GHG emissions.
