  • The purpose of this study is to establish the objective deterioration grades and evaluation criteria of building equipment system of educational facilities available for reasonable maintenance and remodeling of them. For the purpose of it, the actual conditions of building equipment systems of the 148 buildings of 84 middle and high schools in Seoul 20 years after construction are investigated and surveyed through one-on-one interviews and questionnaires. And, deterioration grades of them are estimated by the evaluation criteria which is proposed in this study. As a result of this study, the 10 deterioration grades and the 4 evaluation criteria of the 6 performances of building equipment system, which are heating and cooling, water supply and drainage, hot water supply and electrical power performance, are suggested. And, as a result of the survey, it showed that 24% of the investigated school buildings were estimated C grade which needs partial remodelling, and 51% of the school buildings were estimated D grade which needs extensive remodelling. And, 25% of the school buildings were estimated E grade which needs overall remodelling or alteration of building equipment system.

  • 548 thousand apartment houses of Seoul has been used over 15 years and remodeling is available. It is 42% of the overall apartment houses currently and it is assumed to increase to 800 thousand in 2015. The maintenance work is divided to reconstruction and remodeling. Due to the regulations of the government, expansion remodelling has been the most considered alternative. However, 75% of the extension remodelling, yet, are in the preliminary phases. Thus, this study suggests factors hampering the vitalization of extension remodelling and solutions for each factor by means of Delphi analysis method.

  • Cytokines that bind to and signal through the gp130 co-receptor subunit include interleukin (IL)-6, IL-11, oncostatin M (OSM), leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), cardiotrophin-1 (CT-1), and ciliary neutrophic factor (CNTF). Apart from contributing to inflammation, gp130 signalling cytokines also function in the maintenance of bone homeostasis. Expression of each of these cytokines and their ligand-specific receptors is observed in bone and joint cells, and bone-active hormones and inflammatory cytokines regulate their expression. gp130 signalling cytokines have been shown to regulate the differentiation and activity of osteoblasts, osteoclasts and chondrocytes. Furthermore, cytokine and receptor specific gene-knockout mouse models have identified distinct roles for each of these cytokines in regulating bone resorption, bone formation and bone growth. This review will discuss the current models of paracrine and endocrine actions of gp130-signalling cytokines in bone remodelling and growth, as well as their impact in pathologic bone remodelling evident in periodontal disease, rheumatoid arthritis, spondylarthropathies and osteoarthritis.

  • The purposes of the present study are to investigate hemodynamic characteristics and to define shear-sensitive remodeling in the stenosed coronary models. Two models for the compensatory remodelling used for this research are a pre-stenotic dilation and a post-stenotic dilation models for the computer simulation. The peak wall shear stress on the post-stenotic model is higher than that of the pre-stenotic model. Two recirculation zones are generated in the pre-stenotic model, and the zones in the pre-stenotic model are smaller than those in the post-stenotic model. Variation of the wall shear stress in the pre-stenotic model is lower than that in the post-stenotic model. In computer simulation with the post-stenotic model, higher temporal and spatial shear fluctuation and stress suggested shear-sensitive remodeling. Shear-sensitive remodeling may be associated with the increased risk of plaque rupture, the underlying cause of acute coronary syndromes, and sudden cardiac death.

  • The concept of modern medical science has been changing from the old period which is simple treatment of diseases to the new period which is active prevention from diseases. Because preventing diseases is more effective and economical than treating diseases. This is the reason that needs to HPC at the concept of Health diagnosis. Another reason of HPC is to diagnose the stresses and to prescribe an effective exercise and to show the way of nutrition intake in order to keep up the condition of individual health. According to these reasons, I foresee the demand of remodelling HPC from existing HEC on this study. I define the common space that HEC uses duplication with HPC. I also aim to analyze them and to examine the alterable function and proper size of common space in case of remodelling.

  • The purpose of this study is to predict remodeling timing of Permanent Rental Housing through historic data and cash flow analysis. For this aim, the study has estimated cash flow of Permanent Rental Housing considering initial construction costs, government supporting fund, rental incomes and maintenance expenses. Based on the expected cash flow analysis, reasonable remodeling timing is predicted for Permanent Rental Housing. The results of this study are as follows: (1) it is analyzed that building a8e of about 27 years is the best time for remodeling because cumulative surplus amounts reach maximum level, (2) it is required that remodeling should be made before 34 years of age roughly because cumulative surplus amounts change into minus from this time.
